"At this moment, I am very happy at Tottenham," Dembele said. "I do not lie when I say that I do not think about a big transfer. I want to play a World Cup and afterwards we will see.

"Really, I'm not aware of the interest of other clubs. And, besides, I told my agent to wait for the summer to tell me about any offers. For now, I'm only focussing on Tottenham. Maybe this is my last season or maybe I'll sign a new deal. We'll see."

What do you make of these quotes from Dembele?
Would he pass a medical elsewhere ?

Probably pretty easily unless he has some ticking timebomb of a medical flaw that nobody knows about but us. Medicals are injury risk evaluation. Teams would be taking him knowing he has an injury record and would likely expect that to continue and have to be managed.

#thfc are continuing to monitor Atalanta playmaker Bryan Cristante (23) after scouting him for the better part of the season.

I think we will but only a 2 year deal... with his fitness issues he’ll be well and truly knackered by the time he hits 32/33.

I hope you're right - need to get his long term successor sorted out, either way. I hoped that would be Onomah, doesn't look likely now. Winks will be an important player once fit again, but not sure if he is THAT player. Should be a priority signing in the summer IMO.

Regardless of Dembele’s future, Tottenham are keen to strengthen their midfield during the summer and had hoped Italy’s Bryan Cristante would play a part against England at Wembley on Tuesday night.

Spurs have been tracking Cristante, who is on loan at Atalanta from Benfica, but he was left on the substitutes’ bench by Italy. He has played all through the age groups for his country and made two senior appearances.

From Telegraph piece on Dembele. Looks like we have @Trix Italian player...

Saw him score 2 against Everton in the Europa League, anybody here watch him consistently?

We do need to bring in another midfielder regardless of whether Dembele goes or stays as we are light there.

We will have dier, dembele, wanyama, winks, onomah and dele that can play there. Foyth has also played as a dm i believe.

I hate thinking about Mousa leaving, and in that way these make me uneasy. BUT mostly I have to applaud Dembele for being a top class professional. Compare this to Walker asking for a transfer mid-season, and this is the attitude that this club should 100% want our players to have, even in the case they do want a transfer. (And no, I am not assuming he is gunning for a transfer in any way I am taking Dembele's word at face value that he is not thinking about transfers/will see).

I don't think Foyth has ever played DM, it's just a common belief among some vocal supporters, myself included, that his skillset would be best utilized there.

I think this really comes to the question of what Poch wants for next year. Eriksen and Dele can play the CM role but when they do Poch changes his tactical structure around them to make it work as neither have the physical attributes Dembele has and while they're great defensively they also get out of position more. Sort of the same for Winks, but he won't transition into the attack as much as they do. If Poch thinks he still needs that midfield enforcer and dribbler then we don't have an adequate replacement for Dembele. Onomah I know rocks it at U21 tournaments but I feel he has yet to figure out how to transition that to the professional level. I think he has the tools but it seems to me the club want him on a path to make it work as an AM and then transition back as needed or later.

That's different to saying we're light there.

My bad about foyth he started out as an am then moved to defense before making his senior debut.

Yeah, Foyth has more ability there then Dier IMO. I also agree that Eriksen needs to be playing from deeper as he has been over the past two months or so. His vision and metronome like impact is greater from a deeper position. May mean moving to a 433 of sorts.

As for this Italian Cristante...I don't see much in him, but what do I know. To me he looks like a poor mans Dembele mixed with Sissoko. He uses his body very well to protect the ball but then calls on a ricochet technique to get out of tight spaces.

I would much rather spend our money on Diawara and have a center three of:

Dembele - Diawara - Eriksen

He has played AM, then DM and finally CB. In the academy though

Agents bs! We won’t pay their ridiculous price they want, to bring in another player we are also interested in. Trix post is a hint. Not that we will offer.
