It turns out that it was Pochettino who insisted on a marquee signing.
Unfortunately, Levy did not understand him correctly, so he went out and bought Doncaster striker, John Marquis

They do, unfortunately the manager - Genesio - isn't great. He was effectively promoted up from the academy - and to his credit he's giving loads of young players a chance - he's just not very good tactically, as a result, Lyon rarely manage to play two halves of good football. They can be great for 45 minutes and terrible the next, or vice versa. The beat PSG a few weeks ago, then didn't win for 5 games and turned a good away result in the Europa into a defeat in the home leg.

oh yes, absolutely. didn't think for a minute that it would be us making these kind of deals
i'd like to think that even though the prices are completely ridiculous these days that we're always more likely to take a punt on youth. maddison at £25m (reported) for example looks like exactly the type of signing we'd make....

If were actually looking at players in that price range I would much rather we go for Fekir or Isco, in fact you could almost get Dybala for that so you may as well chuck in another 20 mil and get him. Unfortunately tho, we won't be spending anywhere near that. Maybe half, maybe.87m? seems legit.......

Regardless of Dembele’s future, Tottenham are keen to strengthen their midfield during the summer and had hoped Italy’s Bryan Cristante would play a part against England at Wembley on Tuesday night.
Spurs have been tracking Cristante, who is on loan at Atalanta from Benfica, but he was left on the substitutes’ bench by Italy. He has played all through the age groups for his country and made two senior appearances.
