Why am I not overly fussed about top 4?

It’s worrying me! I know I should be, and I usually would be raging about todays nonsense, but I think I’ve just had enough of this season...similar to our players it seems!

Surely not even we can fuck it up, it would surpass all of the Spursy stuff we’ve seen in recent years if we did.

We don’t have the mentality to really compete for honours. If we do get top 4, it’ll just mean more inevitable fuck ups next season.

I actually think our best chance of silverware is the Europa, providing the likes of Atletico don’t drop in to it of course.

I've heard this a few times before but in truth, our performance in the Europa cup has been awful over the years.

Even if we don't have a realistic chance of winning the Champions League, we are still better off in it to give us a better chance of attracting/retaining better players.

Playing the likes of Krasnodar FC and Metalist Kharkiv on a Thursday night is not going to help our League form eiher.

What was truly a favourable run-in and we still can choke on ourselves.

Still naive... Sighz.. I'm really disappointed.

I must say I'm slightly concerned at the fact that some people are saying we've already secured Top 4 with 7 games to go. Didn't we bottle a 5-point lead over Arsenal in 15-16 with 3 games to go? And that was also before a major tournament. We've still got City to play, and tough games against teams threatened with relegation. We've got a great chance but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Hopefully Poch is sending that message to the players.
Like I still think we'll finish Top 4 but this was so predictable.

See, this is the problem. It is actually our best chance of silverware but as you rightly point out, our managers have consistently failed to take it seriously. Poch will no doubt field reserves in it, so then it just becomes a hindrance.

Personally I never even minded the Europa League. £20 tickets you didn't have to book months in advance for, a good atmosphere with the glory-hunting bellends nowhere to be seen (I'd say heard, but you never hear 'em anyway), and a chance for some hungry and motivated younger players to show what they've got. Obviously I'd rather be in the Champions League for the sake of the club and for those magical nights against the likes of Dortmund and Madrid, but I don't think the Europa deserves anywhere near the disdain it receives.

from 10 points ahead to 2... Its amazing how Spurs can always contrive to let a lead slip..The question is what has been the cause.. For me its been Kane and Poch. Kane came back too soon and has looked clearly off the pace in every game. And Poch has not had the balls to drop him.

If Chelsea manage to sneak a top 4 above us then this is my mind is the worst capitulation we have experienced in a league campaign. To make securing top 4 so difficult really speaks more for how Poch is mentally preparing the team, as its understandable that some players may be tired, looking forward to a break and looking forward to the WC, so its Poch's job to get them motivated or rotate the team. Losing to relegation fodder who are most likely going down anyway is unacceptable. It already feels as painful as losing to Newcastle on the last day of the season and we're not even there yet. I can easily see Newcastle doing it again and that means this game should have been won.

The gravity of the situation is never impressed upon the players as much as it should be from how they play, and how we can expect to win things with this continued inability to close out games, close out victories and close out CL qualification is something that should be clear to see.

Next season will be more painful I feel. The battle will always get harder with the other teams missing out on something and wanting to do better, but we seem to be standing still (and as a result regressing) rather than moving forward it seems.
Would be interesting to see who Poch feels could improve this team. My bet is no world class players coming in, but just proven players and some youngsters and that is just not good enough in this day and age.

I just don't know what to think now, the game against Watford was massive for us too and the performance was still shit.

A favour from Liverpool would be massive. As much as I don't like to say and with the acknowledgement that we can obviously still win our two remaining games, I don't quite fully trust this side at the moment with the way they're playing. I'm just hoping for the best without the greatest of confidence.

When we finished 3rd in a 2 horse race our last 4 matches were 2 draws and 2 losses. So we can and have started this seasons spursy right now. Predict 1pt from last 2 games.

Thank our lucky stars that the fixture list threw up Chelsea v Liverpool, whilst both in direct competition with both themselves, as well as us.. By virtue of this alone, and them having to take points off each other I think we will stagger over the line.

Still Liverpool win should be what we are all wishing for. Fuck worrying about 3rd seriously

It's a possibility I think Newcastle may well beat us again.

If Liverpool lose to Chelsea and then Chelsea beat Huddersfield at home on wed they will be level on points. Pool have easily the best goal difference but will have to beat Brighton at home on last day of the season to be certain while Chelsea are away to Newcastle. That is enough for me to say that Liverpool will be suitably determined not to lose tomorrow. Gives us the chance to clinch top four on wed..home to Newcastle

Anyone who's not wishing for such is crazy.

Yes, but the writing is on the wall to be 2 - come tomorrow. Liverpool don't need to worry since we slipped up.. CFC will be going all out to make it 2 pts.
