just looking through the u23s and it's crazy to think that tsaroulla has missed the entire season, i hope that he's able to play again. we should find out soon who is being kept on and who is leaving, if i had to guess i'd say -

staying - whiteman, austin, tanganga, brown, tsaroulla, marsh, duncan, roles, bennetts, edwards, shashoua, sterling

sold/loaned - walkes, ogilvie, georgiou, amos, harrison

released - glover, o'reilly, c. maghoma, pritchard, tracey, loft

would expect/hope that a couple from the first list will be allowed out on loan too but primarily they'll be staying, think walkes and ogilvie will be sold, georgiou and amos on loan unless either really impress in pre-season, harrison i think will get one more year to try and make a name for himself on loan.

2nd years:

de bie - will be offered a pro
freeman - released or 3rd year scholarship
lock - 3rd year scholarship?
hinds - will be offered a pro
reynolds - most likely offered a pro
eyoma - on a pro
dinzeyi - on a pro
tob - on a pro
griffiths - offered a pro but 50/50 whether he signs or not
I think pretty accurate , but agree marsh and Duncan don’t have that special something , but to keep all our first year pros is a very good achievement . I can’t see them releasing Tracey yet think they could give him one year more . Georgiou Amos Harrison need to be on loan , nothing else here for them . I believe lock was released . Freeman is another strange one , he doesn’t play but always gets a new contract , so will be interesting to see what happens with him

Tracey has trialled with other clubs which makes me think he’ll be off. I never like to be mean about players, and you can rarely question his effort levels, but he has to be one of the worst players I’ve seen at Spurs post-U18s over the past few years.

Since his little ticking off, Bentaleb’s started every game bar one until his red card last week (which will possibly mean he misses next weeks ladt game too) and he’ll be playing CL football next season.

Sancho started and got a quality assist and Lookman scores twice.

I’d love us to start sending some of ours out to Germany.

I'd love to see us giving some of ours some quality playing time. All of Dortmund, Leipzig or Schalke were/are playing for CL or Europa League spots. In the bundesliga, which is the same quality top to bottom as the Premier league.

For some reason none of them saw it as some kind of existential risk to play youngsters. Despite the presence of more experienced, quality players.

Edit: Bentaleb maybe doesn't qualify as he is already an established first team player with lots of experience in both leagues.

I wonder if Luke Amos will be given a chance in the first team, given how well he's done out on loan. I know it's only League Two, but clearly he's taken to it like a fish to water, and displayed levels and aspects to his game that never really showed at youth level. Was Ryan Mason getting any better reviews when he was playing in League One in 2013/14?

I know it sounds crazy, but perhaps he's a little like Rashford - who never shined at youth level, but stepped up and made an impact?

Rashford is younger than Amos. We all love to see youngsters come through the ranks but have to be realistic, at every top club the % that establish themselves is minimal. Young Amos is 21, it is highly unlikely he'll ever be a first team regular.

Plus, I mean, it's league 2. Would be willing to bet that most of our kids, once they get to 21, would be able to do a decent job in the fourth division.

One slight correction - Amos was really good as a first year scholar, he caught my eye several times. Where he stuttered was the transition to the U21s/U23s, and that was arguably because he was played at left-back more often that not.

Just to expand on Amos a little, he's always been a very competent player and the question marks have always been over his size - he was quite a late developer.

I would say that he absolutely could play PL football - he could competently be a cog in a coherent midfield at a club like Bournemouth or Swansea, a la Andrew Surman or Tom Carroll. A good all-rounder with no obvious, over-powering strengths but no obvious weaknesses. For that reason alone I'd say we should look to keep him and involve him a bit and let his value build like we did with Carroll. Either that, or try to get him a League One loan for the start of the season with a view to a Championship loan from January.

There is no doubt he suffered from being shoehorned into covering at left back for so long. I'm all for exposing young players to different positions but not when it comes as a hindrance to their developement. I totally agree that we should be looking to get him into a good League One club and take it from there.

I would be rather dismayed if we retained Marsh. He's nowhere near the standard we should be looking to have in the u23s.

I think that it was a very young and weak U-23 team that Amos was in. The better players with experience had been moved on or were out on loan. The whole team were at a loss as to how to cope. In U-21 team Amos had bossed the midfield against Chelsea in a match at the end of the previous season but then was selected at left back in U-23s. He always worked hard and had an eye for a pass - would love to see him get a chance to show what he can do at a higher level.

Will sound a bit naive. But I never understand how it can be that difficult to judge which young players are decent and which aren’t if you train with them everyday. The guys I play footy with on a Sunday I know who’s good and who’s shit. That’s why I find it baffling a player like sissoko can get in our 1st xi. Surly if you train with him everyday you know he’s not very good. As I said may sound naive but always puzzles me.

Ryan Mason was 23 when he made the jump from League One to the first team.

Jesse Lingard only broke into Manchester United's team at 23/24, after some pretty average loan spells.

I think that's a bit hard. I think like Amos, he's a competent, technically proficient footballer who just doesn't really excel at anything eye catching, but teams still need these decent functionaries, good water carriers, glue. I'm not saying Marsh is an outstanding example, but I don't mind having decent players of his type around to balance off the more creative types.

It's players like Tracey that I just don't see the logic in, players with creative/attacking remits that are just nowhere near of the required levels, that are keeping players like Shashoua out of the team some of the time.

And extrapolating this logic through, I'd much rather see players like Lesniak, Amos, Marsh or Skipp playing the odd game in our midfield than having to watch Sissoko bumble around like a hot potato juggler.
