TBH it pisses in the face of all those who have started the county season. The guy has batted in the lower order for most of his career and averages 31 at test level.

Hard pass for me, but, if it comes off for Ed Smith and the jazzer brigade he'll look like a genius.

Malan now gets to see how hard it is walking out before the first over is complete. Good luck to him!

Gutted for Jack Leach but chuffed for Dom Bess. Leaves Somerset a bit short on bowlers though.

Should have been Virdi over Bess for me, Bess has only got one wicket so far this season. Virdi has been in decent form. Glad Vince is out, think Stoneman is lucky and under pressure. Hopefully Root at 3 and Malan 4 to break up the left handers. Buttler an interesting choice but sort of a kick in the bollocks for Foakes who has started the season very well.

Apart from a new spinner, pretty boring selection tbh. Not that there are many standouts to pick from admittedly.

(As oft repeated) Such an urgent need to fix red ball cricket in this country.

Our attack could run through the Pakistan batting like a dose of salts in these conditions.

Unfortunately, any attack could run through our batting like a dose of salts in ANY conditions :D

Got tickets for Sunday so a little weather about wont hurt our prospects of a decent day. Wouldn't mind it being nice then though.

Surprised we won the toss and chose to bat. I would have thought conditions were perfect to bowl this morning. I guess we will soon find out.

Obviously we set Cook's over/under at 14. If he gets through that, the new over/under is 231.

I'm going to reserve my judgement on our decision to bat first until we've had a bowl. I don't want to jump the gun on calling Root a useless cherub faced ****.
