Hi guys,

I know this isn’t the ‘what our opponents...’ thread, but I’d just like to make one thing clear:

The team we played tonight are called...
COLOMBIA

Catch ‘U’ later :)

Can't believe how thick some of our players were in the first half:

Maguire, Henderson, Lingard, especially.

Thick. As. Shit.

Colombia were imploding. All we had to do was keep our emotional distance and let them foul us, give us freekicks and get their players sent off.

Couldn't believe what I was seeing. They were literally handing the game to us and we declined.

Must have better discipline and feel for the energy of a game going forward.

Use situations like that to our advantage, not be consumed by them.
It was like watching us throw away a 2.0 lead against Chelsea and yet some thought that was fkin fantastic.
Edit. It was nothing like that. But thought Id make the point about teams playing into opponents hands

Has anyone done a gif of Dier running to the team after scoring and diving in and missing everyone?

Fair point, but there will always be a warm, glowing place in my heart for that performance. ;)

I do agree with that. They arent much stronger than Tunisia really

But they have to attack better. Awful final 3rd play from England.

Has harry Kane had any shots on target in open play in the entire tournament. Really not sure.

Gonna have to work on it, and really getting Alli closer to Kane
they seem to be playing Kane as 10
Rather than an out and out forward. Suppose that’s what happens when you’re playing with 3 support strikers and Hendo in CM

Special word for Tripps who has really surprised me this competition. Shown great maturity and has easily been one of our best players so far.

We were the better team over the 90. Colombia, aside from their shithouse fouling, hadn't produced much attacking threat up to their goal in the 93rd.

That first half of extra time was horrible. We lost the initiative, players legs and concentration went; in particular, Stones, Henderson and Walker. They looked really nervy in possession at that time, and couldn't put a pass straight!

Thought Harry Macguire was excellent tonight; great defensively, don't blame him for the goal, it's a tough ask marking that giant at a set piece. And he was composed in possession, and was comfortable driving the ball forward in extra time, when many others had run out of gas and lost their focus.

Kane, Trips and Pickford were excellent too! It'll be tough breaking Sweden down. Be nice if we get an early goal to stretch out the park and draw them out. Still think we get through.

Sweden will be tough. Two banks of four, keep us out and look to nick a goal.

They've beaten Italy over two legs to get to the WC, beat Mexico comfortably and were very unlucky against Germany.

Another game that will be tight and go to pens.

you could probably play kane as a goalie, and he'd still find a way to score. What was that consecutive games scored record?
