C'mon guys...

It's quite clear Poch has earned the trust from Levy.

They will decide together who they will ultimately spend the money on.

I've always been of the opinion that signing players is secondary to having a settled squad (which we have). But, I think the time taken for any movement is becoming quite comical now.

By jack - I mean no one.
Yeah we knew that, just making a play on words.

I’ll be honest and say yet again that centre midfield needs to be the priority. I was happy when Rebrab said yesterday that this was/is the priority but seems everyone is getting their knickers in a twist over a wing forward. Why? Has everyone forgot we signed Lucas 6 months ago? Dembele can’t cope with another long premier league season, Dier and Wanyama are destroyers by trade and do not have the technical ability nor brain to unlock defences time and time again then you have Winks. This is nowhere near enough. If the plan is to play a different formation then perhaps fair enough but for me, someone who can dictate tempo and move between the lines with fluidity like Eriksen is key.

CM is still the most important Position we have to sort out this summer. WF is icing on the cake.

Going from the beginning of the window (things have changed, money will be spent, Poch being backed) to desperately trying to find someone to take our world class defender at a cut price whilst half heartedly courting a £70m squad player...gotta love life as a Spurs fan.

It does feel refreshingly familiar.

All that optimism at the start of the window was making me very uncomfortable.

How do you know they have mutual trust? From ITK? From Levy giving Poch a bumper contract? From Poch stating he likes working with Levy (which he wouldn’t say he didn’t anyway)?

People really need a reality check in this thread.
We have sold no one, meaning we are no weaker than last season.
Teams who finished below us have bought early as they are trying to play catch up on us, city have signed another winger because they can, man utd are trying to buy players to hold their position.
Just because liverpool have spent millions on players doesnt mean its going to work out for them. See us and the use of our bale money.

Our young squad is a year older, we will have kane back who missed a large part of last season, moura will hopefully be more up to speed, sanchez will be better after a season under his belt not to mention winks, lamella and rose coming back into the fold.

We will probably lose a couple of players and these are more than likely going to be replaced. If not, we have a very capable youth system to call upon, people are screaming for onomah, edwards and kwp to be given a go but also want to fill our squad with shiny new signings.....we cant do both without major sales.

If as ITK have said, we have 6 leave and 3 join, we will be very balanced and will go into the new sason with a strong squad. If we sell a couple and sign no one with only youth for back up, we will still go into the season with a very strong squad.

Maybe we should save our crying until after we see how our established squad does

I am a passionate fan, which exceeds 50 years, and I have seen a lot first hand. You can put it on a biscuit tin Poch was given assurances, to which I won’t recycle, as we know what they were.

I understand the comments about not paying what we deem OTT in players like Zaha. I stated that our kitty is what it is, but inflation is seen nowhere like our sport. Now if Palace want 65m for him, and 1 or 2 players are thrown in, with us paying say 40m, then pay the farking thing on instalments agreed. And that is how Parish operates.

We have been farting around too long. Announcement/s Monday-Wednesday still stands. I wait with baited breath. Yes! I was optimistic earlier, but less so now. I am not going to bs anybody. You deserve to know the truth.

Hopefully this leaks, and club gets wind, and up there game. And anyone who believes that a certain person is ‘belly happy’, you are then deluded. Many things I would love to say but can’t.

Oh dear!!!

Thanks for the update Herc, although it does sound very worrying.

If Levy fails to deliver anything of real substance to support Poch by the end of the transfer window, we can seriously start planning protests for after the Fulham game. We will not go through the same as what happened at the Emptycrates - and they won some trophies beforehand to sweeten things a little!

Over to you, Daniel..
Protests are for fans who's clubs are being run into the ground, the likes of Sunderland and Villa spring to mind.
Can you imagine how ridiculous a Spurs protest would look to anyone who doesn't support us?

Admittedly the ITK we're hearing right now could be better, but this is just being a bit....entitled?

Why? Its debatable whether either improve our squad other then add quality in depth.

Poch and our key players would be much happier if we went out and bought a player of the quality of Martial or Zaha than did nothing or made some late N'moneyball punt. Just look at the Danny Rose article. Mad if you don't think players look at stuff like that.

The world class players that are so hard for us to improve won't wait around at our club forever if they think our ambition does not match up with theirs. Man City are statisically the best team in PL history and just dropped £60m on an attacker that is 'debatable whether either improve our squad other then add quality in depth'.

We can probably get by without either signing, but if the players get disillusioned that will also negatively affect the team. There seemed to be a bit of that at the start of last season to be honest.

At the end of the season the only question Levy should have asked of Poch:

Who do we need to sign in order to catch/match City?

Instead we seem intent on hoping to achieve top 4 at best.

The others have all improved their first 11 - we have added jack.

Er, no. He hasn't signed yet.

Quite. New stadium opens and we have fans protesting. Laughing stock isn't even close.

Players won’t come cos they want CL.
Players won’t come as our facilities aren’t good enough.
Players won’t come as they want to challenge for trophies.
Players won’t come cos they can go play in bigger stadiums.
Players won’t come cos we don’t pay the wages.

Hmm... We’ve ticked all those off that we’ve been told over the years, so with the new ITK, why are we still not able to sign the players we want?

Every time we tick one of those off, the calibre of player we're looking for goes up, and the difficulty in getting them rise commensurately.

Or it's all our own personal Groundhog Day, and until Levy learns his lesson we're just stuck here, waiting, and waiting, and waiting...

For me, it's not about spending a load of money and it never has been.

It's about backing Poch with the players he wants and actually getting those players through the door and quickly, not negotiation for months for the deals to fall through.

Thanks Hercs for being so honest as always with your info. Clearly as frustrated as many of us but with insight behind the scenes. I have always said transfers are complicated things yet when you look at other almost similar clubs, like Liverpool, there seems to be a determination to get the players they want or else move on to the next option quickly. Let's hope there has been some blood on the walls and some deals do get done this next week
