Just my opinion, but regardless of any positive/negative ITK, it will be severely fucking underwhelming if Zaha is now our top choice. I seriously doubt he's going to take us to the next level.

I appreciate that the market is tough, but we are a top club outside the megaclubs, and we surely can get better value outside the PL for the £55m+ it'd take to get Zaha.

We’re melting dowm because fucking Zaha’s unlikely. He’s not all he’s cracked up to be anyway. If we spend even £40m on him, ill be FUMING. Why? He’s not on our level and he’s in the position that Poch says he wants but will never fucking play. Save that money and put it towards something we actually need, a quality CM. If poch leaves over no zaha, then he doesnt want to be here anyway. So, good riddence. This is the one time ill back Levy here. Someone needs to save Poch from himself.

How does Poch need saving from himself when our club hasn’t even sold a fringe player with 19 days left of a window we voted to close early?

I’ll be honest and say yet again that centre midfield needs to be the priority. I was happy when Rebrab said yesterday that this was/is the priority but seems everyone is getting their knickers in a twist over a wing forward. Why? Has everyone forgot we signed Lucas 6 months ago? Dembele can’t cope with another long premier league season, Dier and Wanyama are destroyers by trade and do not have the technical ability nor brain to unlock defences time and time again then you have Winks. This is nowhere near enough. If the plan is to play a different formation then perhaps fair enough but for me, someone who can dictate tempo and move between the lines with fluidity like Eriksen is key.
I totally agree with regards to the type of targets but I think the example of Zaha/Martial can easily apply to other positions. The point is our whole transfer policy seems neither organised nor decisive. What hope do we have of signing a good midfielder if we won't pay the money for other players wanted by Poch?

I'm not the world's biggest Zaha fan, but for those who are against it / defending Levy on not delivering the goods again on the basis he's not worth it, I'd say that he's a player who has been managed by the likes of Warnock, Pardew, Allardyce, Moyes and (perhaps unfair) Hodgson. It's fair to believe that under a top draw manager like Poch he may get a hell of a lot better.

In reality, we have no idea what Poch wants or not. Are the paper rumours fuelled by genuine interest, or agents getting the deal their player wants with their current clubs etc.? We don't know.

I agree with the principle though, that if it's a player that Poch wants, get him and get behind him. Doesn't mean I won't be sick in my mouth if we sign Zaha for £70m, in the same way I did with Sissoko.
I think we can make an educated guess on who Poch is truly targetting via resident ITK's - especially when the same names routinely crop up.

Thanks for the info Herc. Worrying, tbh.
New stadium, most expensive ticket prices in Europe, best manager we've had in decades. If Levy doesn't back Poch now, this summer, then you have to wonder if he'll stick around in the long term.

Bang on. Sadly as per my post yesterday I am of the opinion that Levy is a fish out of water at the moment.

Having re-thought it I cannot believe that when we get to the position we are that after all that he has done he will not know what has to be done to take the club to the next level. To me and Poch it appears now or never. Next year or even the the next transfer window will be too late.

We have the best stadium and the best manager. We now need to strengthen our first team to get us to a team that can challenge on all fronts. Oh and Danny boy Grealish is not that player. Grealish is squad strength only and with losing at least two of our 1st teamers you have got to get your wallet out. At this level you have to pay well over the going rate. All the others do. If you do this properly the results are ?.

Danny I have mixed emotions but for fuck sake please make your As next move very carefully and quickly.

This is all so foolish. We are melting down because Poch has a desperate desire for Zaha who plays in a position that Poch has shown time and again, doesnt have a role in this squad. Let that sink in a bit, SC.

Sobering update from Herc. I’ll be keeping the faith for a bit longer. I do wonder if this Zaha news is being fed for the benefit of other deals.

If ever there was a day for the club to announce those re-signs for CE and DA...

No that's not what people are having a meltdown about at all although I do think it's premature but warranted in a certain respect.

ITK has suggested we haven't got our targets yet and possibly may not leading to Pochettino leaving. Don't think any of this stems from Zaha at all. People would probably be happy to get Zaha as it offers a different dimension but they believe again we haven't got our no.1 target.

Worrying ITK (appreciated nonetheless) but we've been like this for years now. Not a surprise. It's the hope that kills you. Shite window.

The sad truth is that we can rant and rave as much as we like. It doesn’t touch Levy. Players will arrive and players will leave. Some will be moves we approve of, some won’t and some we’ll convince ourselves are great when they’re actually Meh. Poch has the power to walk away if he’s unhappy with the outcome of the window. We don’t. We will moan. We will berate Levy. We will threaten to sack it all off. But we won’t. We’re Spurs fans and we’re in for a lifetime of this shit. Another 3 weeks is all we’ve got to get through then we can get on with enjoying (hopefully) the football.

Saying all that. Thanks for all the ITK guys. As self destructive as it can be it’s always interesting to get an insight into the transfer window away from ‘paper talk’. £20being chucked in the pot if we just get on and bloody sign someone!

That is not why this thread is in meltdown mode. It’s been the same thing for the last few days but no one truly melted down

Stop focusing on your evaluation of Zaha and look at the bigger picture!

The frustration stems from multiple transfer windows of false promises, not because we believe Zaha is the heir to the Ballon D'or.

Thanks for the info @Hercules , as always it's greatly appreciated!

Hoping the Monday - Wednesday is good! Still it all ties in with what Trix was saying about remaining patient as most of our business will be done at the end of the window when there's better value.

Still hoping it all comes off.

I thought it was because Poch seemingly isn't getting Zaha?

I agree plus the fact Poch wants Zaha should be the main factor regardless of our or Levy’s rating of the player!

You know what I hate the most, during the seasons we kept finishing 5th on the last day and they show a shot of fucking Levy looking sad and he still doesn't catch on, that the value of finishing 4th far outweighed the pennies saved from doing deals later and not fucking those first 3 games or when we lacked that 1 more player because we couldn't get it over the line on deadline day. Same shot every fucking year.

Or maybe it was finishing 5th after spending a shit load on underwhelming expensive players?

Redknapp has a lot to answer for, for the lazy clichés about cheap players. You'd think we were ran by the Oystons.
