I keep seeing this said, and I just don't understand it.

We only have 1 quality striker in Kane as Llorente &a Janssen aren't good enough and we lose Son for August, September & January so getting a really impressive AM/FWD adds so much value over the course of a 50 game season. I can 100% see why Pochettino thinks this kind of signing is a shrewd one to make for first team impact and squad utilisation

We scored 3 goals at Stamford Bridge without Kane, we beat Man City the year before without Kane. Our biggest problems don't lie when Kane is gone, its when Eriksen has an off day. We need to lessen the burden on him, not Kane.

What happens if Kane gets injured or needs a rest when we lose Son as well this season due to his involvement with South Korea in Aug/ Sept & Jan?

We are still capable of scoring goals, any team is. My point is the squad gets a player genuinely pushing for first XI competition on the left predominantly and one who can tuck in for Kane instead of over reliance on Sonny having to play there. It's a two player rolled into one option for the boss. It gives him genuinely impressive options to compete.

I also think Grealish would have been a terrific understudy to Eriksen. Homegrown, passes forward, plays with his head up etc. I'd have loved him coming to Spurs for the exact reason you have highlighted

Son is fast as fuck and the only winger in the world who doesn't run hot and cold is Messi. Lucas Moura scored 19 goals in his final season at PSG.

I'm not disagreeing that it would help but I fail to see how another winger in the league not named Hazard or Salah takes us to the "next level".

Because our biggest weaknesses are 1. Slow turnover of play from defence to attack especially compared to City, Liverpool and Madrid arguably the 3 best teams in europe last year.

2. Ability vs teams who sit 11 behind the ball and lacking people who can take on a defender with the ball at their feet. Son Pales in comparison to Zaha on this front and Moura to be fair to him was brought in to alleviate this and before that Poch himself said that Lamela was the only person who could do that for us.

3. I think we have the poorest return for goals and assists from players off the bench in the entire prem. We need depth and players who can change a game.

So we're doing 60+ million deals because Son is going to miss a month this season?

moura seems more of a (no pun intended) winger, as opposed to a wide forward - especially one who can cover the central position.

I know salah had a good season before he joined liverpool, but he took his game up a level last season and in the process elevated liverpool's performances. I do think that zaha or martial could have a similar, but less influential, effect.

No, because Llorente & Janssen aren't good enough and Son isn't available and when he is, requires genuine competition on the left. Son could get injured for x matches, as can Kane, we need to have sufficient cover and quality for competition on the left and up top should it be required

1. CM does that not a winger/forward.

2. You know what beats the bus? Passing, not dribbling. Son by himself got us points in several instances last season against busses in the Crystal Palace game and the West Ham game.

3. We have those players in Lucas & Lamela. Lamela had 4 goals and 7 assists in a limited season and Lucas looks like a fantastic addition.

Son is quick. But not quick on the ball regards to dribbling.

Asian Olympics August-September I believe and the Asian cup throughout January (should South Korea not win Gold at the Asian Olympics)

Ok. You wrote it as though we were losing him for three months. Asian games is 14th Aug - 1st Sep for football. Not seen anything confirming he'll be gone for the Asian Cup so it's two weeks as things stand.

1. You only have to watch Kanes passing highlight video to see how many times dele slowed down our attack on the counter, also I'm pretty confident it's mane and Salah doing the counter for Liverpool not Can, Wijnaldum and Hendo

2. You can have both, Man city have Kevin De Bruyne feeding Sane and Sterling constantly. I don't see why you'd only want 1 option of variety in your attack considering Eriksen was shut down in a fair few games last season. Just because Son did it in a couple of games doesn't mean we shouldn't have more options.

3. Why you wouldn't want depth astounds me. Son is fucking off for a fair whack of the season and can be used a differential to Kane and give us the option of resting Kane playing Son uptop with two either side. Honestly I don't understand why you wouldn't want depth.

You seem very black and white about it. Like we are all of a sudden saying Son isn't a great player because we sign another winger or we can't additionally sign a cm. Regardless of favourites we need depth and to be constantly improving.

Manure would be in the strongest position by selling before deadline day as they would be in control. After that they would have to accept what they have been offered if they want rid!
