He replaced N’Didi at Genk when he left for Leicester.

Consensous is he’s been more than a capable replacement. Had he not got a hamstring injury last year he’d already not be at Genk.

Really highly rated, very good defensively and an absolute unit

thats clear from the videos - the opposition players bounce off him.

Made a list of UEFA 50 for the future: https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/news/newsid=2528631.html

Sander Berge (NOR, 20 – Genk)
The 1.90m-tall midfielder comes from a family of basketball players but is showing huge promise with the ball at his feet in Belgium.

If he makes it on this list he's definitely worth getting in so he can work with Pochettino as far as I'm concerned. Would be a shame if it's not us that are in for him or if he goes elsewhere after some of the Norwegian feedback on here about him

No problem with these signings, in fact they are exciting in a signing young potential kind of way, but if him and Grealish are our only two signings this window it's a disgrace for where we are as a club and what we should be doing.

These players will not get us challenging for the major trophies and by the time kids like Grealish and this guy are good enough to really light the PL up (2 or 3 seasons providing they aren't flops), the likes of Eriksen and Kane will be off. Just look for example, how long it has taken Eriksen to become as good as he is, 5 seasons or so. We don't have this time to wait. At this stage we absolutely need to be signing players who are almost the finished article, or at least the 1 rung below.

Still, it suits Levy's player trading company strategy....not winning trophies strategy.

I love your optimism. It's really brilliant. I think we'll buy them because they're cheap, without any alterior motive.
Sometimes i wonder why we just don't go straight to d on our list and sign them early, rather than play all these games. Surely they'll be cheap and can get a full preseason in.
Well for a start, within just the last year that approach would have seen us miss out on Foyth, Sanchez, Aurier and Lucas. People love to ignore the times when Levy's approach has paid off.

Eriksen improved us immediately, dele improved us immediately, kane improved us at the age grealish is. Just because you don't think they can improve us doesn't make it so.

Give them a chance ffs.

Berge is, together with Kristoffer Ajer (CB at Celtic), probably the biggest talents coming out of Norway now.

He’s taken the steps up in quality with ease since his debut, first in the Norwegian top division, then Genk and the National Team.

Not sure if he’s ready for the Premier League but it wouldn’t surprise me if he does the same here. He’s only 20 years old and would be a great buy at the quoted price. Still, I hope we’re looking at players that can definitely improve our match day squad in addition to making deals like this.

That's fair enough, i just think a less risk averse chairman would have got those players and then some. Maybe for more money, but i couldn't care less about that unless it seriously jeopardised the well being of the club. Take Foyth off your list. That was a punt.
Levy holds us back imo.

To improve this season on our 3rd place finish and lack of trophies, we need to bring in better players than Sander Berge and Jack Grealish. Disagree all you want but I am certain I will be proven correct.

We currently have 3/4 young players trying to break through in to cm not sure we need another. We need some proven quality to replace dembele.

Good info thanks. Could you see him possibly being ready in 1 season if he joins, learns the English game and plays understudy to players like Dier, Wanyama, Dembele if he stays etc?

Appreciate the input of the fans in this thread that have followed his career more closely. Certainly an intriguing prospect.

Wanyam crocked, dembele likely gone. Can see him getting quite a bit of gametime especially if dier is covering cb some games.

Berge would be as an understudy to Dier that would allow us after selling Toby to move Dier to CB if a CB was injured. Grealish would be a backup/ rotational option for Eriksen and Dele. I've no idea about Berge but assuming he's a good young player what is so wrong with improving the squad with young prospects? It's served us well so far.

I want us to go sign an expensive starting player too, be a little more flexible in our transfer policy but that doesn't mean both those signing can't be smart signings too. I'm absolutely certain Grealish is going to surprise a lot of people. I'm really frustrated with this window but sometimes it's like we haven't signed players who have become fantastic for us.

That list means nothing other than he might be a decent player for Norway, it picks one player from each of 50 countries.

You are saying exactly what I said no? I said I am all for these types of signings, but we needed to sign starting 11 quality CMs this summer. Players that can come in and be better than Dembele, Winks, Wanyama etc. Berge is not that player.

As I said, I am NOT against signing these types of players, but only in addition to and not at the expense of proper quality first 11 signings.

Can anyone honestly say he is better than Skipp or Amos or TOB ?

Haven't seen anything of him so no. But experts are rating him as one of the best prospects in europe, norwegian experts believe he can be the best player they've ever produced and he is a full international. So possibly?
