Scoreline papers over the cracks. There are actually quite a few strong individual performances, most of all Kane who’s back to grafting and bullying the opposition defence, Son and Rose who are combining well, and for the most part the defence who are dealing well with Huddersfield’s American Football tactics.

However, our midfield is non existent, we’re relying on winning the ball deep and counter attacking. I hope this isn’t Pochettino trying out a smash and grab tactic ahead of the Barcelona year becaauss the will destroy us if we do this. Dier is again doing his best to be creator in chief for rhenopposition and Dembele has had no impact at all. We lack cohesion, vim and purpose.

Can someone explain to me Poch's blind spot re Dier? I mean, seriously. How bad must Wanyama be? How out of shape and unfit must Wanyama be, to not get a game ahead of that absolute useless lump in Dier?

The reason I am getting even more pissed off is because he isn't even working hard. He is strolling around like he's fucking Pirlo. It is the same shit every single week, Dier is picked, and he does absolutely nothing.

Sick to the back teeth of watching this guy get a game in CM and putting in terrible performances. It's no coincidence our performances are suffering when in a critical area of the pitch we have such a poor player.

People can say he's out of form but he's been like this for a year now.
I think it's largely a case of Wanyama's fitness and form being a huge question mark itself. He's only just come back from injury and didn't exactly pull up trees against Watford in the cup.

I'm fine with having Dier around the squad, he's a very useful utility player, but he can't be our first-choice DM (especially in a back three) if we want to be competing with the likes of City and Liverpool.

It's Wanyama who needs replacing IMO if he can't get back to his best, which he also hasn't been anywhere close to for the past year now. Really I think we need a new No. 6 in addition to a new No. 8 to replace Dembele.

Am I the only one who sees this problem with the midfield?

Dier has been atrocious this season so far, preventing Dembele from being his old, marauding self, and having to play as a DM rather than a proper pivot who runs the midfield. Harry Kane is being played deeper as the hook, or "classic 10" , with Son and Moura playing almost as inverted false 9 wingers or some bollocks.

As a result it's all a bit innefective, because no one is being optimised. When Eriksen plays in this setup, he's left roaming and trying to find a position where he can create from, and as such is stunted.

I'm all for a bit of tactical experimentation, and against opposition like today you can get away with it a bit. But against opponents like this Wednesday, go with the winning formula that's been serving so well.

No it is not. The last time Wanyama put in a good performance for us was Spring 2017. It is now fall 2018. He's been injured and when he's been fit, he's been largely poor, to say the least.
He has but it wouldn't hurt to give him a run of games to see if he can regain his form. He was brilliant for us before the knee injury. Dier has regressed massively and has been just as poor as Wanyama for a long time.
