Can someone explain to me Poch's blind spot re Dier? I mean, seriously. How bad must Wanyama be? How out of shape and unfit must Wanyama be, to not get a game ahead of that absolute useless lump in Dier?

The reason I am getting even more pissed off is because he isn't even working hard. He is strolling around like he's fucking Pirlo. It is the same shit every single week, Dier is picked, and he does absolutely nothing.

Sick to the back teeth of watching this guy get a game in CM and putting in terrible performances. It's no coincidence our performances are suffering when in a critical area of the pitch we have such a poor player.

People can say he's out of form but he's been like this for a year now.

Honestly? Lucky to be ahead. 2-0 flatters us tremendously. But we'll take it.

For those who think it would be any better with Wanyama and Winks, no it would not be. We have 4 CM's and not one is in form. Pretty poor time for this when we are in dire need of something against Barca on Wednesday to have any hope of advancing in CL.

4 of 5 defenders have been, pretty meh, in all honesty. Trippier's been poor besides for his crossing.

We're crying out for Lamela when we are on the ball.

Just an abject performance all around that half and yet, we are up 2-0 which we can only be happy about. Keep winning and hopefully the form and performance will come.

Since we're all very quick to say when a referee has had a bad game I'd like to just say he's played a blinder so far (I'm sure HuddersfieldCommunity may disagree).

Dier being woefully unsuited to playing as the DM in a back three formation aside, I think Poch largely got it right TBH.

He correctly diagnosed that Huddersfield would need to be on the attack and seek the three points, which would leave loads of space for us to operate in. Despite not dominating the game like we normally do, we had the better chances by far, and easily could have scored another two goals.

The tactical context of the match has meant that we haven't really needed a creative No. 10 type to carve out really promising opportunities.

I disagree. I do think it's true that he had been looking like a shadow of himself, but the last two weeks have given me cause to be optimistic that he's on his way back to his best. He's doing things that had been missing from his game -- turning defenders and breaking forward at pace for one-on-ones with the keepers, getting snapshots away, etc. He was hobbled by rushing himself back from the ankle injury, but he's looking fitter and sharper than he has since March. It's a bit premature to say he'll never be the same again.
I sincerely hope you're right.

He's looked much better today but I would add caution in that it's against a shockingly bad Huddersfield defense.

Rumours about wanyama's knee must be true.

Winks' last 20 minutes or so midweek were very promising. I think he's been saved for Barcelona.

I'd have Lamela on in 15. He'll get plenty of opportunity to make those runs from CM I think.

Pretty sure Winks would do a better job. Put him on and get some possession going in midfield, continue with the back 3 and safe in the victory.

Its either that or everyone is posting negative bullshit when we are 2-0 up. People need to get a grip
People are just pointing out that we are still not looking completely competent at the moment. Good scoreline for sure but we haven't really looked all that convincing yet this season.

I'd put Winks in there with Dembele..

I hope Wanyama is being rested for Barcelona. I know he's not though. I'm not looking foreward to watching Barcelona run circles around Dier.

Credit to Dier he is still a top drawer pointer.

I've used the Pirlo quote and agree with every word you've said.

Used to really like Dier when he first went into DM as well.

There must have been 5-6 replays of the Hudd penalty claim early on, Davey Provan really getting on my tits banging his gums about it.

The second replay by Sky was showing when HK had the ball up at the opponents goal line, usual bollocks camera work.
