I don't know if it's Poch's tactics, but I can't for the life of me think why we don't move the ball quicker... and in the direction of the goal (not ours, theirs!). Why do we insist on passing ponderously out from the back, when it doesn't work the majority of the time and puts us under pressure. How can Poch not see that? We are at our best when we attack with pace.

I'm as disappointed with the outcome as any Spurs fan but FFS why do so many on here seem to have the same predicable knee-jerk reaction after a setback in a 90min game that Poch is off to Utd or he's going somewhere where he will be backed with an almost unlimited transfer budget.

There are times when things don't go our way in games, but do those of you that keep saying it really think that Poch says to himself at the end of any game we don't win, "that's it I'm off, I've had enough, I'm going to Man Utd or Real Madrid"... Just listen to yourselves, it sounds bloody ridiculous!!!! Do you really think that we are always 90 mins away from losing Poch, Eriksen, Kane, Dele, and virtually everyone else except Sissiko and Vincent Janssen, when a result doesn't go our way?

Doesn’t match up with the game I saw I'm afraid.

Total domination but stupid mistakes.

We needed the win tonight not a decent performance against substandard opposition. Not to win that game was criminal. There is absolutely no point in dominating a game if we don't win. I just don't understand how we can be happy with that tonight. I would rather we got battered for 90 minutes and scored a 95 minute winner. Tonight was about one thing and one thing only winning

That one season where we used to blitz teams was the best thing I can remember about supporting spurs, actually being able to enjoy games with 25 minutes to go. I would say it’s probably less energy consuming doing things that way than scraping a lead and then trying to hang on for 25 minutes.
We've not been easy to read this year, our performances for the most part have left me confused.

City next, a draw would be a result and a half (onions)

Of course not. Anything based on an individual result is a bit silly but what I think people are doing is building up a bigger picture based on our performances this season both in the Premier league and champions league. Granted, the position we are in league-wise can't be grumbled about but performance - wise not so much and we will be coming up against far more challenging teams in the league.

Set pieces again, for me. Doesn't get enough write up or scrutiny.

Witness two examples, a minute apart. The first one for PSV, knocked into the box, the second ball drops edge of the box to one of their players who has no one anywhere near him. Hits it towards goal, helped in.

Then we have one straightaway after the play resumes, almost identical. Ball knocked in, half dealt with, ball drops edge of the area towards Eriksen....... However PSV have two players around him to pick up the second ball and clear their lines.

Yeah we were down to 10 men, but so what. Just don't leave anyone up. No excuse.

What annoys me is that we just don't seem to learn or see any progress. Indeed we have even been here before with this type of goal..... I remember Hazard scoring a goal in an FA Cup semi final against us from the same scenario, and people on here telling me "oh you cant expect to deal with that", well I think you can, and we see history repeat itself tonight.

Poch has had over four years now and we still look all over the place from them. Unacceptable really, and the sort of fine marginal gain that can sort you out, on big occasions.
This. Their were 4 defenders behind their 2 men that touched the ball leading to the goal. Not a 1 stepped to these men as the ball went to the 'D' before being put in. Disgraceful.

Progress does seem to have plateaued and the answer seems to be transfers (not the big money, big name FIFA playing bullshit). Athough this is true in general for the professional game it is also damning from a tactical and organizational standpoint. The answer is always transfers, a constant influx of upgrades and competition lest the incumbents get comfortable/lazy.

We are seeing the same team frailties and the same players making the same mistakes they have always made. The effect of these mistakes may have been mitigated by our overall good team performance but they were still there. In Poch's second year when we were drawing a lot of games he pointed out that the results weren't necessarily the big thing it was the clean sheets and the chances created because these statistics point toward better things as we were young and growing.

Now were are playing shit, not the top or 2nd top chance creaters anymore, leaking goals (late, early, set pieces, individual errors, etc), and our player's weaknesses (which have been there for all to see except for the happy clappers) are on glaring display. And on top of that it seems teams have finally found out how to play against us. My question is what took them so long as we have had few if any tactical or player improvements.

I certainly don't think Pochettino is off to Man Utd or anywhere else but tonight was very very poor. We needed to win and most teams in the Premier League would have battered that PSV team tonight. We got lucky against West Ham but I'll take that all day as long as we win. Tonight was awful. I know a hell of a lot of you guys don't agree but we needed to win badly tonight.

We don’t have the players for it. We used to get away with it when we could rely on Dembele’s ball retention skills and turn of pace. Now, if Winks isn’t playing, we’ve got no answers in the middle. It’s just skittish one touch passing between the back 4 and middle two.

Probing?? How many times does a throw in deep in the other teams half end up with dozens of backwards/sideways passes and then back to our keeper who lumps it aimlessly upfield and losing possession.

I watch us and genuinely have no idea what our tactics are and what opposition weaknesses we are trying to exploit.
We had three or four opportunities to get a third goal before Lloris got sent off. Son took a pot shot when Kane was in all kinds of space to his left and then connected well but hit it right at the keeper a few minutes later. Kane forced an excellent save and ruined what should have been an extremely dangerous free kick just outside the box. Lamela struck the crossbar. We created plenty of chances.

I'd be delighted if we won the EL. Proper big European trophy. Better than the League Cup. PLUS, it's a route into the CL.

He shares a rather large part of the blame when such results and performances happen. I suspect the continuous accusation of being bottle jobs and Spursy etc isn’t put down to the players alone when these massive clubs are looking for their next manager.
Plenty of much worse sides than us have won stuff. We fail when there’s an increase in pressure, virtually every time. That’s not just down to the players imo. Even if it was then he has to take the blame for building a side full of mentally weak players.

Lloris is starting to piss me off. Talk about his future beige tied to Poch and such bollocks not worth a shite when he makes a seasons worth of mistakes by the end of October.

To be fair we did score three goals.

We literally threw away a win tonight. We are our own worst enemy. Ref was shite but no excuses we let ourselves down tonigyht.
Yep, can't really blame Loris as he was only off for the last 10 minutes. We should have been out of sight... not clinical enough.
