What has the fact that Levy’s salary was propped up by several years worth of bonus payments that he hadn’t taken got to do with the fact that Pochettino isn’t picking sides based on merit, is playing negative tactics and is failing to utilise a squad where he has two players per position (all but Foyth proven internationals)?

You also realise that levy doesn’t decide how much he is paid right? As a Ltd company, we’d be under investigation by the SFO if that were going on.

You are right, this thread is about Poch so we should be discussing him.

I wonder what is up with Poch this season, he just does not seem himself.

His latest statement must be in response to the bullshit DL peddled THST in their last meeting. He made out that Poch was the one who was happy with what he had. Delighted that Poch has come out and been frank with how he really is feeling.

On another note, the Leicester tradegy has made me think about how I feel about DL - I couldn’t say any of the things that those LCFC were saying about their leader (not that I wish anything similar to happen to DL or anyone else for that matter). 17 years at the helm and zero goodwill shown to the fans. Absolute fuck all. Everything is geared towards screwing the fans as much as possible.
Steady on, il no BSoDL but I think that is taking things a bit f

I'll be polite and just ask if you can back this up with a source. Thanks

If I’m being honest I wouldn’t completely trust Poch with £150m. His track record is very hit and miss.
How do we know what he has wanted vs. what Levy gave him? Plenty of reports Poch wanted Barkley, De Jong, De Ligt & Martial. How differently would you think about his "track record" if those deals were actually pulled off?

Don’t know is the answer to both questions.

This is the problem. Unless Poch came out and said I wanted X, Y and Z but got a lot of shite we’ll
Never know.

Personally I’m not sure De Ligt and De Jong would’ve had any real significant, immediate impact but I could be wrong. I’d also say that none of those players are really players we desperately needed in terms of position. Perhaps Barkley as he was apparently being touted as a Dembele replacement which, IMO is the area we should have prioritised.

De Jong no doubt would have made an impact and De Ligt would currently be our starting CB as that would have meant Toby was gone. Barkley is playing incredibly well for Chelsea so I see no reason as to why he wouldn't be playing significant role in the joke of a midfield we have now. Martial would also be fucking killer to have when we need to rest Kane/have limited options recently with Eriksen & Deles injuries, Lamela building back and Son being dead tired.

Yeah that’s a fair point and one that works the other way. How involved was Poch in identifying Son and Alli I wonder?

His strength definitely lies in developing talent, he showed that at Southampton and with us and I’ve always said I’d rather sign no one than get your Sidsoko’s, Nkoudou, Njie, Llorente and Jansens but we’ll never know the ins and outs of the whole process from identifying a player to him donning the chicken badge so it’s hard for us fans to comment.

Man I'd love to see us pull out some signings like that again.

Son was very stop-start in his first season but since then has been a lot more hot than cold (although can still have his cold moments!), other players such as N'jie, GKN and Janssen have just not bedded at all.

Perhaps, you might be right but I think you’re being a tad optimistic there.

Son showed 5x the ability in the Bundesliga that those other 3 dreamed about showing. 3 straight seasons with double digit goals. Was such a good buy.

Just don't remember any kind of goodwill from the man towards fans in his time here. Increased ST prices massively and removed the cup games at the same time just an example - of course tickets prices need to increase over time I get that but he has never had the fans at the forefront of his thinking. His pricing for the new stadium is outrageous and shows what he thinks of the average fan and the way the club is refunding games by releasing the fees paid a just before each match is disgusting. Let me refund 1/19th and then charge you CAT A at Wembley.

Yeah I remember at time thinking wow with his goal scoring record.

Wonder how we managed to get him since we seem to be struggling so badly now?

We sold Paulinho, Holtby, Capoue, Kaboul, Stambouli, Chiriches, Soldado & Lennon that summer... aka we had money in the bank.

the only thing I believe he was at fault on this was he should of made it 2 years from the very start but to want it finished early enough to hold test events and solve any problems in time for next season. if it could of been finished early enough they could of used it for concerts and other events to cover the cost until it was time to move in officially.

by the time we move out of Wembley we won't be far off of what it cost to rent for the whole season, we wouldn't of suffered restricted attendances, and they wouldn't of held the NFL matches there, they would of most probably switched them to Twickers

I do get what you're saying, but let's be honest, Daniel Levy is not a builder, nor does he have wide experience of building projects, well, certainly not on this scale. He took all these pre-issues under expert advisement. He's surrounded by people who explain to him exactly what is involved in a massive capital project such as this. He had and still has constant high level meetings with the Senior Project Director of MACE who keeps him fully up to date with the progress. When MACE won the tender for the work (and thank God it wasn't Carillion...) they will have submitted a programme of works called a Critical Path Analysis which has obviously gone horribly wrong, and due to the unacceptable delay in delivering the completed project, MACE have incurred some truly horrendous financial penalties for their errors.

Yes, it's one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) capital works project in the whole of Europe with a mind boggling number of expert building and maintenance staff and the delays have caused us (THFC) far more frustration and embarrassment than anyone could have imagined, but at the end of the day, in a year or twos time, all of this will be forgotten. We'll be playing in the best stadium in the world and we, our children and our grandchildren and their children and grandchildren will be enjoying it long long after we've all shuffled off this mortal coil.

I think we just need to come with realistic valuations of what our deadwood is worth.
The crux of it is we should not be in a situation where we have to sell before we buy, every manager we've had has to have been fustrated with Levy's last minute ego trips to get a deal, so many slow starts to the season as we haven't bedded players in, Poch said how important it was to get signings in early and he said he hoped to convince Daniel to do things differently. Levy knows if he buys early and he has too many players he has to accept lower prices for the players as he loses a bargaining chip being more desperate to sell. All our deadwood could be sold at the right price, there is a buyer for everyone at the right price, Levy should know this better than most as property sales is the same idea.

One thing I will say is that with Eriksen, Dele and Lamela all fit, Pochettino has the opportunity to revisit the combination which produced the best football of his tenure across 15/16 and 16/17. If he can get those three playing regularly together for the rest of the season with Kane in front and Winks + 1 behind, we might start playing good football again.

You're conveniently overlooking the fact that the costs of building the stadium have ballooned by what,130m. We may have had money set aside for transfers as e were told, but construction costs have to be met and I'm pretty certain that is a major reason for our lack of Summer dealings. I don't think that is something that's going to go away by January either. What I would say though is that it wouldn't hurt Joe Lewis to put his hand in his pocket in exceptional circumstances.

he did put his hand in his pocket, didn't you see that 86m piece of art work he bought, or his new boat with a tennis court on it.

I can’t bloody win :cautious: I’m either blind to Levy’s failing or not cutting him enough slack. At this point I’m considering just digging a ditch, crawling in and waiting to die!

Joking, I agree with your post in its entirety, I just daren’t state it myself for fear of causing a riot.

Measured and constructive, are you sure you’re in the right place?

My work here is done :)

it's not evening yet so your work isn't done your slacking off work again:p
