An unbeaten run of games brings an unnecessary pressure on teams. I am content with us losing a game here and there.
Now that Gomes is crocked, they are, indeed, a VVD lay-off away from playing Dejan Lovren.

Anyway, Liverpool are just two draws away from being second again - and still boast an unbeaten record.
Something tells me the title is City's to lose. Liverpool won't be champions this season.

Trouble is, I've seen worse teams winning the title. Premier League winners Morgan and Schlupp spring to mind, gosh...

I've had a gander at the most recent pages RAWK thread which is similar to this thread of ours.

It's fair to say they are sitting on top of the pile and loving it.

And very noticable that they think of us for the most part as being irrelevant in the greater scheme of things.

Suits me.

They are true ****s... i cant think of anything worse than hammering them and then winning the PL on the final day - like would be unreal. Imagine their sobbing fucking RAWK faces - arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Lovren played against wolves and for the first half their back line looked shaky (even VVD) they could have easily gone in at half time 1 or 2 down, granted they were slightly better in the 2nd, but I don't think they can ride their luck against arse or city they have the strikers to take advantage of Lovren

Liverpool are a Virgil Van Dijk away from being fucked
He is and has been amazing for them. 7 goals conceded is exceptional (The keepers made a difference too but VVD is special atm)

If anyone has a wish for Christmas a 3 month VVD lay-off would be a nice one!

Maybe he'll go to a Christmas bash and gets infected with a Vicious Venereal Disease.

92-93 points will have a shout this season but i think 95 or 96 is the number to aim for. After tomorrow, Liverpool could be on pace for 102 points, City for 94 and us for 90. The top 3 this year have picked up the most points ever at this point of the season. What we have going for us is, 2 centurion seasons in a row is highly unlikely.

We have to pick up our pace by a few points. I dont think we can afford to lose another 2 games if we want to win the league, let alone 4. Especially because I cant imagine we’ll win all the reverse fixtures. I see us dropping some points there. I think the maximum points we can lose in the 2nd half to have a shot is 9 points. Doesnt leave much room for error.

The thing is when people talk about luck they talk as if we havent been lucky. Every team gets lucky, every team gets good calls, every team gets bad calls against them - its football and its sport.

If we dont win the league it is because we werent good enough and if we do it is because we were - nothing to do with good calls, bad calls or luck.
What about booty calls?

An unbeaten run of games brings confidence and an air of invincibility

It would shit me if Lpool just carried on til the end of the season like feckin Leicester did. It has a horrible feeling of inevitability about it atm.

I finally got round to watching the full MOTD2 interview with Poch after the Everton game. If you haven’t seen it I would really try and watch it.

I think it’s a really honest and relaxed interview from him about us and I think he really believes we have a chance of pushing for the league. I mentioned the other day about one of his favourite words being consistency, he hasn’t used it for a while but did in that interview a few times.

He knows this is the most important time to start picking up consistent wins from, but this time he says after 4 seasons, we are mature enough to do it, which really struck a cord with me. It’s the other words he used to describe us too. Relaxed but confident, positive despite setbacks, unbelievable belief, players comfortable playing. I know it’s things that are easy to say after a win but he brings it back to consistency. Winning today after a good high energy performance will be hard but is what we need to do. Him talking about eliminating negativity from the fans was for games like today where the players might need the fans to pull them through games too I reckon.

Bringing the discussion back to a Top 4 theme, I see that Arsenal and Chelsea have potentially tricky away games today:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/scores-fixtures

Also, they play after everyone else, which adds a little more pressure

Looking up the table, Liverpool have got an easy game against Newcastle (Toon will get smashed unfortunately ) and City go away to Leicester. I'm expecting City to come out all guns blazing after their shock defeat and if they don't you'd start wondering about motivation problems in their squad.

Overall, it'd be great if we could put top 4 to bed over the Christmas period and focus on the title race for the rest of the season

I saw that game. Van Dijk was fantastic. Traoré was well up for that game and Van Dijk had him and everyone else in his pocket. He was so calm and made defending Traorés pace look easy
He is quite simply playing on another level at the moment
Lovren is absolutely hopeless. VVD is keeping that defence together

But Leicester will be flying high after beating Chelsea at the Bridge. Longer it stays 0-0 Leicester have a chance of something.

Been thinking about it, and even if City win today as long as we win today too then on Saturday we'll be second if we beat Wolves before they play again on Sunday.

If us and city stay close the pressure on Liverpool will be enormous. None of their players will have experienced anything like it. The “Gerrard slip” will way heavy on their minds. Their bottle job in 13/14 is up there with Newcastle’s. Even though we get accused of bottling it we have no real scars we were never in the lead in the first place.,Ultimately I think the whole frenzy that will be going on will be their downfall. Just imagine how many times the Gerrard slip will be mentioned in the last few weeks.
