I think they only reason Lucas didn't get more playing time was because of how rusty and not in playing shape he was due to practically never playing for PSG. It's not a super likely scenario just think it would be helpful.

And another reason to do so: we bought Lucas Moura not for last season but for this season. In other words, he had time to acclimatise, which was one of the reasons he had such a good August. Signing someone in January with next season in mind can only be a good idea.

Fuck Liverpool, and City, and the rest of them.
Concentrate on ourselves and our games, brilliant taking my two youngest to their first ever spurs game and seeing us score 5!

I told them about my first ever game, losing to Portsmouth and getting pissed on by their fans (literally)!!
Selling the dream, good man......:cautious:

It just shows how many people accept the sky/red top narrative as fact, as they were pretty much all spouting this stuff at the beginning of the season.

Absolutely. But I also think there is a strong thought process that the only way to improve is by buying players.

The concept of a team improving by building understanding and togetherness that comes with time and hard work is simply lost on people nowadays.

I agree. If a player of the right quality and mentality is available to us in January then hopefully we can buy. But chances are it will bear fruit next season, not this.

Who has suggested he will get done retrospectively?

All I said was I hope the refs are embarrassed into marking him harder in future. Just like they’ve done with Dele.

Oh and it would also be nice if Pundits started giving him the cheating diver tag he so richly deserves and which they’ve had no trouble dishing out to other players.

TBF Rose goes over just as easily on a fairly regular basis.

With our weakness in cm if we could bring in a top midfielder to lighten the load then we will see fruit quickly. They might not be at 100% yet but it would be a massive boost.

Agree with this, although there may be a psychological boost among the squad if a real star is signed in January...

11 home games and 8 away games left. Away to Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City, mind.
If we do keep up our current points per game ratio, then we're on course for 90. Probably a somewhat tough ask. If we're sniffing at the 80 point mark, then I think we've done a bloody marvellous season all things considered.

Top 4 teams now will be top 4 end of the season. Not necessarily in these positions though.

Chelsea still don’t convince me at all. Totally and utterly reliant on Hazard. A total one man team this season. Keep him quiet and they really have little to offer.

They are suspect at the back too, a top attack like ours can blow holes in them quite easily like we did very recently.

Just watching the discussion on sky with Steve Sidwell and Alex Scott and they are being respectful to us and paying credit but I can't help thinking it sounds like people talking about Leicester in their winning year, it's not quite so incredulous but it is as though they can't convince themselves that we can win it, like they can't really think of a reason that we can't but surely there must be one so in the end they just trot out the old squad strength and we need to buy someone cliche.
I notice they are billing the City v Liverpool game as Champions versus the challengers! I wonder how long it took them to come up with that, I bet three days ago they had it all ready as the top of the table clash, the two best teams of the season and then we went and spoiled it all for them.
I'm hoping Arsenal and City beat Liverpool for obvious reasons but I'm almost hoping it just to see what the media make of it, I mean, how the hell are they going to spin it if we can catch them?

Might have something to do with the fact we haven't won the league in over 50 years.

I don't doubt it, most pundits follow the leader and it takes someone with an independant mind to overcome that flow of the flock, it's the same reason they all believe Liverpool can win it every year even though they haven't ever won the Premier league.

Let them think that way it helps us and keeps pressure off.
