I really REALLY want Roles to be given a chance against Palace. I'd love to see what he can do at senior level. He gets goals....
And we NEED goals right now...

It's interesting to observe... in this thread many bash Pochettino for not trusting the academy players enough while in the transfer rumour section the same Pochettino is now getting bashed for trusting too much in academy players (i.e. not going out and spending on players)
Will be a very interesting team v Palace. With 2 important league games within the following week and our injuries there are going to be places for more than skipp and KWP. The bench should be interesting. Fully expect Parrot to be there.
He may be younger than Sterling but he looks a far better bet to be a first teamer. Sterling is nowhere near. Parrot has something about him . He will be on the bench.Whatever you've seen or heard about him. He ain't ready.. Quite understand sterling given his chance but Parrott is way off.
What you need is some more good MusicAnd we NEED goals right now...
One thing I will defend poch on, in regards to youth players
Is that our academy style/philosophy and Poch style and philosophy doesn't match up at all. When Poch took over imo in terms of quality we weren't far off Chelsea with the crop coming through
However the style of players Poch likes, were the type of players chelsea have scouted, players who are physically strong for their position and less emphasis on skill and more malleable in terms of what the manager wants from them
Since Poch has taken over, imo the academy is a basterdised version of itself.

Who was the last 16year old to make his first team. Debut at spurs... The youngest I can recall was Phil Ifill and he was nearly 18
I remember him .. Fairly gangly left footed lad.. Had a decent run in the first team.I remember Andy Turner was 17. I had high hopes for him at the time.
Do not think the talented Parrott is ready for first team football yet and the u18s arsenal cup match was a prime example of that.I remember him .. Fairly gangly left footed lad.. Had a decent run in the first team.
Agree with you.. Sometimes a young un comes along with lots of talent.. I. E Parrott.. Fans begin to here about them and the hype takes over.. Having seen him on a couple if occasions now He's still only a talented kid Imho... I can go alot further back than that regarding talented youngsters at spurs but ally dick is almost a carbon copy of the troy Parrott scenario..Do not think the talented Parrott is ready for first team football yet and the u18s arsenal cup match was a prime example of that.

See Taarabt is in our youngest players list. He turned the WHAM game on it's head when he came on, I think everyone was sure he'd have a spectacular career. Alas.Do not think the talented Parrott is ready for first team football yet and the u18s arsenal cup match was a prime example of that.

I find this thread interesting and puzzling in equal measures. The route to the first team squad is clear: do well in your age group and you will be promoted to train with the first team squad, if you prove you are up to that level you will get a chance.
Roles, Sterling, Skipp, KWP, TOB, Onomah et al will all have spent hours competing with tough, seasoned internationals on the training ground, the vast majority simply aren't up to it. You get the odd exception such as Dele who arrives and immediately proves he has what it takes. Its been the same for decades and will never change.
Poch has said he prefers promoting youth to the first team and seeing if they are accepted by the senior team. If the youth players can adapt to the style and speed of play, if their teammates can rely on them to press and make a run when necessary,to make a pass or make themselves available to under pressure teammates then they will be accepted and they can play. The interview from Poch with Arlo White explains everything that we need to know. Ability and hard work will get them to training with the first team. But once there they have to earn the right to play by being part of the team. This is quite possibly why Edwards and Onomah haven't made that final step yet. They perhaps have that perception of low work rate and teammates feel they can't be relied on when backs are to the wall.So Poch claims he prefers promoting youth, well now is the time with our injuries. He hasn't really done it so far this season except for Skipp.
As BG has said, KWP and Skipp have one start each in the league. And I don't know why they're blaming Poch like it's his choice, if he had players fit he wouldn't be playing them, if he had money available he'd be buying who he wants. Levy is the one forcing his hand here.
I don't go to the transfer thread but I can imagine it's people now really wanting us to buy Bowen while we have Edwards out on loan, what a world we live in.
