We have much to do in the summer and i dont expect our transfer kitty to be large.
There are a number of areas that need more urgent attention than FB, unless players sign new contracts.
I also doubt if Poch would want a whole raft of changes for it is the togetherness of the squad that has won us many a game this season.
As with most matches Christian holds the key.
Isnt banega nearly 31?I think if eriksen leaves (which i think he will) then we wont/ cant replace hin directly but instead we will change the dynamic of the team through a different type of player. So perhaps a deep lying playmake who can hit every type of pass in the book and putting alli in the point of a 3 man midfield in which he can make his runs into spaces he see (his best asset imo)
Using my earlier post as an example player wise....
----------Winks-----Banega--------
--------------------Alli------------------
--------Son-----Kane-----Sane-----
You could change winks for a more dm type player like dier to suit.
If course sane is a very tough player to aquire but pep ridiculously under-uaes him and for me he is an uber talent and has a ceiling as high if not higher than son. Banega pinging balls left right and centre to those 3 would be devestatingly good.
But my point stands that eriksens replacement needent be like for like.
Edit: any chance of modric back? One can hope.
Trippier obviously does have end product - he's been statistically one of the most productive FBs in the league the last couple of years. And he plays some lovely balls down the inside right channel when not crossing. He’s just in wretched form at the moment, and we’re getting all his weaknesses without that cutting edge.
I think you have the tense wrong, Trippier had end product. Unfortunately it is pretty one dimensional and I think his poor form is as much due to opponents figuring him out as his WC hangover. Even at his best offensively he has been a poor defender, this year he has become a wretched defender.
No recognition of the role that our switch to a midfield diamond is playing? It's an absolutely wretched system for most teams, partially because of the almost impossible job it gives the full-backs. It just so happens that it suits our best fit attacking and midfield players this season.I think that’s harsh. There’s probably a lot of things going on with him this season, a bit of physical and mental burnout from the WC and no preseason, opponents targeting him more, and a lack of confidence at the moment.
Whatever his shortcomings, he does have good delivery and vision from the flank. He’s proven it over time, and that doesn’t just go away.
Having said all of that, we really need to find a better RB, although his HG-ness makes him more desirable to keep than Aurier, who’s been a total bust, and needs to go in the summer.
It's not really up to Levy to do anything with particular players. It is up to him to pony up the money to fulfil Poche's recruitment wishes as far as possible. We're going to spend the entire Summer hoping that Levy does something with the fullbacks but I'd be shocked if Tripper isn't still here next season. He needs to go but Poch seems to love him and you get a sense that Levy and the decision makers at Spurs don't see him as a problem.
Yes, sounds very likely! They're welcome to Serge though.Tuttosport reporting that we're "set to sign" Ivan Perisic this summer, that he prefers a move to us over Arsenal, and we can use either Sissoko or Aurier as a makeweight in the deal
I'm not sure about the diamond being a direct cause. I'm convinced the system is the direct cause of both the poor form of our full-backs and our uncharacteristic (under Poche anyway) defensive frailty.

He has been terrible in a back 5 too which should really suit him most as a RWB, so I really don't think his form can be explained by a change of formation even if we had played the diamond all season, which we haven't.No recognition of the role that our switch to a midfield diamond is playing? He's also never been a season-on-season type player. Has little bursts of form, and is never as good for his clubs as he is for Croatia in major comps.Too old for our criteria so obviously we won't sign him. However he strikes me as a Poch type of player - athletic, tenacious, lots of stamina, a grafter. Would've been a great signing 5 years ago.

I really don’t think Aurier has been as bad as some people make out. I admit that he was very shaky at the start, but he’s nowhere near as bad as Trippier.
I’d definitely keep him over Trippier. It’s no secret that I want Trips gone and wouldn’t mind selling Davies either. Rose and Walker Peters should stay too, IMO.
I do love when we don't upgrade clear weaknesses.I agree. I’d give Aurier another season.
I’ve a bad feeling Poch is content with our fallbacks though and won’t be open to changing them.
