Highly unlikely if Norwich get promoted, but i quite like the look of Norwich fullbacks Max Aarons and Jamal Lewis.

Think wan Bissaka will get lured to a club higher up the food chain, so whilst he'd be top for RB, can't see it.

Think both the lads at Norwich have played well this season.

Nice little article for those interested...

I’d like to see Bissaka play well for more than one season before parting with £40 million for him. I suspect a lot of sensible clubs would too.

Unfortunately we don’t live in a sensible world.

Mega rich teams will spend out big on three youngsters happy if one makes it.

If we don’t try to buy now we won’t get him.

Flip the coin, don't pay £40m now, come back in a years time after he's proven successful, to complain that we didn't spend £40m on him last summer & would now have to pay £80m. Typical Spurs not being proactive, etc etc etc.

The sad reality is what @spursfan77 is saying should be correct.

Wan Bissaka and Brooks have had one good season in the Prem. Sessegnon had an excellent season in the Championship then has struggled to make an impact at a poor team in the Prem.

These players should be performing for more than one season before going for big money. But it just doesn’t work that way anymore.

Really unsure AWB's good enough going forward/with the ball for a Pochettino team...which I think people are just ignoring due to the hype around him.

Jamal Lewis is nowhere near a good enough player for Spurs tbh. Have doubts about Aarons too, but doubt he'd leave a side where he's playing regularly and should be promoted to be a Premier League player next year (contract to 2023 too), where we can actually get a better look at him for another season.

Thing is, it’s not only about whether a player *is* good enough at a ceartain ability but whether he might *coachable* at that ability. You can get a player who isn’t the finished package if can become such a package in a couple of years.

I was at the Berlin vs. Dortmund yesterday. The best 3 players were Sancho, Reus and imo the best was Delaney who weve been linked with before.
It looked like he was way ahead of the game, dictating play, intercepting and tackling. Dortmund have similar problems to us in that the back 4 hadn't sufficient protection and that was probably because weigl was at rb rather than alongside Delaney.
Delaney is what we hope Winks will become but he's the finished article.

A Bola saying we sent scouts to watch Benficas new Ronaldo 'Jota'.

Saw this kid in the Euro under 19s and he was different gravy. Got great close control and silky skills.

Personally don't think we'll take the risk as he'll cost huge money. A shame as he's likely to shine on the biggest of stages.

I’m sure he must’ve been mentioned in here before but Joao Felix is the superstar at Benfica.

He only came into the team halfway into the season but already has 9 goals and 4 assists in 17 appearances (12 starts).

He looks unreal. Only 19.

Papers have plenty of the 'big' clubs aware and interested in him.

That’s always been our market and I’ve no problem with it whatsoever. Trouble is, if that’s the price of buying the potential then we won’t be paying it and probably quite rightly. I’m sounding like Daniel levy here but that’s how he thinks.

Thanks for the considered response. No need to defend the club. Its my general observations of up and coming players and the keen eye for talent some posters have, thats all...

The players name that escaped me earlier was Lobotka and i could add Diawara too. I guess i only have time for PL games and enjoy the scouting thread for exactly that reason.

oh I'm not defending them, as I've said many a time myself "every man and his dog knew we needed transfers last summer, winter", but I'm not a bed wetter, knee jerker, or an ENIC out as I've seen this club grow. I was more angry with them in the early noughties, when I just about had the mobility and money to be a season ticket holder.

I understand to build the stadium it would effect transfers, and to buy the quality we need, we needed to be having a lot more money coming in than we did at the old WHL. the way some people go on here you would of thought we had upgraded a 50k seater stadium, had been involved in the CL for the last 10 years, and sold half a Bale every season.

People moan about ENIC, which hasn't been helped because of Abramovic and the Sheik. or the fact that since Klopp has been at Liverpool (a massive club, that dwarfs us in history of trophies), has spent near on ½ a billion to finally finish above us, at a time we couldn't even consider it, and have been lucky City haven't been as good as last season. the thing is unless we had someone like Abramovic or the Sheiks we might still have a shitty training ground in comparison as Chigwell, stayed in the old stadium and never been able to pay our top players anything like what they are on today because of FFP

I don’t know if it’s been mentioned, but Bowen’s current deal is up in 2020. We should be all over that before the summer even begins. I’m almost certain he will end up in the premiership next season, I hope it’s with us.

Along with Aarons, they are my two most wanted from the championship. However it’s likely Norwich will get promoted which makes things a little tricky.

I get every one of your points above and in the main agree. But here is where I'm coming from in my original post... Joe Lewis pumping in 150 Million to KEEP us in the CL..by doing just that one act you keep bringing money from CL and winning the odd trophy. I dont want us to BUY trophies like City or that Scum team from West London....

I like the Liverpool model even though some on here are selective with the facts... Theyve sold one or 2 assets and reinvested. So yes they've spent big BUT their net spend is respectable. I dont even want us to buy 60-80 million pound players..... just move on some of the speculative purchases we made and move on players in the current squad who have stagnated and refresh the team.

I cant wait 10 yrs to pay off a stadium to finally compete and win trophies. Look at Arsenalnow the stadium is paid up by the squad was neglected for years... I dont want us following that model.

Honestly, if you’re Harry Kane/Dele Alli and you read that cobbled-together party line bollocks, which is basically Levy telling the Trust that someone else can invest in the team because ENIC have built the infrastructure and they aren’t going to bloody well do it, you can forgive them for saying ‘fuck this shit’.

If Joe Lewis doesn’t want to play the game the other top clubs are playing then he’d be better off just selling the club to someone who will.

Given the financial muscle in the league now, even from teams like Wolves and Everton we’ll drop like a stone if ENIC think they can just carry on as they have been.

100% agree. Just one note about the comparison with Arsenal which is often used just because of the parallel in stadium builds. Beyond that obvious parallels there are very few financial parallels. Arsenal’s debt was taken out when interest rates were much higher so their service cost was way higher than ours. Arsenal’s problems for the last few years are that their owner has been using them as a cash cow to fund the building of the stadium for his NFL team. So while thick Gooners like Merson might wish we suffer the same feat as Arsenal due to building a stadium there really is no reason for us to follow anything like their path.
