Why are people talking like they expect us not to make top four.

We're favourites imo, and last night even more so.

Don't underestimate the massive psychological boost that will have given the whole squad and coaching staff.

It's fucking huge. Iconic and monumental moment for us.

We've arrived now for sure, so timely with the new stadium as well.

It's beautiful.
Eh we’ll suffer a letdown in short order. We’re Spurs, mate. It’s in our nature.

Even if we don't get top 4 hopefully this CL run will somewhat mitigate the negative impact it would have. We've already earned almost £30 million from the 3 knockout rounds (plus gate receipts) and last night's game will be the talk of the footballing world. The new stadium is incredible and there's a really good feeling around the club. One season outside of the CL wouldn't be an utter disaster.

Obviously not qualifying would be a disappointment but imagine how much worse it would feel if we'd also flopped out in the CL group stages like we so nearly did.
If we’re going to miss out on CL, then let’s do it properly and miss out on Europa too. We’d be in with a shout of winning the Prem next season.

We just dont have any pressure against City on Saturday. Win win for us.
Its a midday kickoff. You can expect the home atmosphere to be dull, after that sucker punch CL defeat.
Have the same tactics, play with same tenacity, score a early goal, we can get a result draw or a win.

And btw, Arsenal play Palace at home on Sunday. From what I have seen of Palace this season, they are not pushovers and will give a proper game to Arsenal. IMO, not going to be a cake walk for them. Everton host United and Chelsea host Burnley. These games are not easy for our opponents.

the trouble is we won on aggregate because of last week, and have made progress. the match itself we lost, and something tells me with another injury we might feel a backlash. it would be great to get any points on Saturday, but think we have upset a very angry lion
Yeah, its like for the 2 City games we've been standing behind the lion, flicking its nuts with a tea towel...next comes the mauling where they tear our throats out.
Wouldn't be in the least bit surprising if they walloped us.

Still, I thought we'd get walloped in all 3 so I couldn't really give a fuck now, anything from Saturdays match is a massive bonus really.

This is probably my dream scenario: We lose out on top four to Man U in third and Arsenal in fourth on the last match day (12/5). St Totteringhams Day is celebrated, we are mocked again. We then go on to win the CL and Chelsea somehow manages to win the EL. Arsenal get fourth but lose out on CL.

We can lose on Saturday and still get 3rd providing we win the rest which is not beyond us after last night. That will have got rid of a huge monkey on the back in those big big games and moments.

I agree with this. Getting to the semis of the Champions League and hopefully the final has brought excitement to the club. I may be in the minority but that to me is what it’s all about. The glory nights. Even if we finish 5th and don’t win the CL to me it’s a better season than not getting to the final stages and finishing 4th. Especially with all the injuries etc.
I don’t buy into the view that it will be a disaster with the new stadium investment if we are playing in the EL . Players will still sign for us if Levy loosens the purse strings . It might make a slight difference to Eriksen and Alderweireld but in both cases it seems like money is the main issue. We were in CL this season and signed nobody.
Hopefully we will get top 4 but that doesn’t define our success or failure this season.

Think we'll get a tonking tomorrow lunch.

Just hope we're focused on both fronts now.

I sense Poch and the boys (and us!) have subconsciously written off Saturday!

We have 6 games in 20 days, given our problems at the minute I'd be taking a free hit this weekend.
Me too, if only because they’re the reigning league champions, have a ridiculously broad squad of excellent players, are at home, will want revenge and will be desperate to win the league.

Meanwhile, we’re stretched to the limit with injuries, are still in the Champions League and have winnable league games after City. I wouldn’t begrudge Poch if he strategised the game based on all these factors

Indeed, but what's the likelihood of Poch doing that?

I'm pretty sure we'll get top 4.

We can't afford anymore injuries though, that midfield area is getting frightfully light and we could end up seeing a Skipp and Wanyama pairing if Sissoko and Winks don't hurry back.

They're both groin injuries, aren't they? What's the usual timeframe for that kind of injury?

Agreed, though he might give KWP and Skipp starts, which he wouldn’t ordinarily do. It’s very tricky, and you’re probably right but our squad’s lighter than Trump’s conscience right now and another key player injured would really put the dick in the trifle ( homage to @Nine while nine )
