Surely Llorente can't be our back-up option next season - probably time to say thanks and move him on.
His contract's up in June next year, are you lads all on a tremendous amount of drugs or something?
Get him fucked off back to Holland or whoever's gullible enough to take him ASAP, free up a squad place and actually invest some proper money into a replacement (who should NOT be a player with one decent season in the Eerdevisie).
He's nowhere near good enough.
I honestly think he will be. He's had a good season. And we have so many positions in much greater need right now - both fall-backs, centre mid, an Eriksen backup, potentially replacements for Eriksen and Toby, a long-term heir to Hugo. I can't see splashing out for a backup striker being anywhere close to a priority.
Over Easter weekend I was. So maybe I still am then.
My point is that we don't know how good he could be. As someone has mentioned above, Sissoko is a case in point.
How do you find someone who is better than him who is going to be happy sitting on the bench for most of the season?
In an ideal world yes, there's definitely going to be better options out there. But even if we had the money which we probably don't, it isn't normally a great idea to have too much squad upheaval at once. If we happen to find a striker who's cheap, happy to be a backup, and seems a better fit that's one thing, but I'd be very disappointed to release Llorente before we've found such an ideal replacement.Perhaps, but my concern is that he'll only decline further with age, be more injury prone, etc. - so he may not be a great bet for the whole season.
Also, as we have to change our style to accommodate him when he does play, wouldn't it be better to use someone who can fit our style better, or who is more adaptable to multiple styles?
How do you know he is happy to sit on the bench? He and his agent were apparently annoyed he couldn't get a permanent move in the winter so.
I don't know, you're right, maybe he wouldn't be - just speculation. But when he came in the first place he knew he'd be playing second fiddle to Kane.

FTFYI ain’t belittling Fernando bud but i think that despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary, Janssen, given an infinite amount of time, would do no worse than he did previously.
Anything is possible, but not plausible. As usual, it's divisive when assessing a players potential but even with the evidence to hand, anyone completely writing the possibility of Janssen coming good needs to be looked at with a degree of suspicion. He may well never come good. But he might.
If people aren't going to learn from how Sissoko has turned things around and at least allow for the possibility, at least modify the certainty with which they offer these golden insights that they treat us to then you just have to question just how seriously you take anything they have to say.

843 minutes in 3 years (9 starts) and a bench appearance when we'd no other attacking options whatsoever due to injuries and because Sissoko, who played more football than that in his first fucking season here, came good Janssen somehow has a chance of now making it at Spurs with a year left on his contract?
Sorry, but no tbh.
