yeah, we we pretty much have already blasted every player on the team so far. Bale's going to have a horrible match soon, so he can join everyone else.

Huddlestone could be a good holding midfielder. His passing is alright, sometimes too adventurous but he does try to create. Contrast Zokora and Jenas.

His main problem for us is that he loses the ball way too easily. He can't turn and tends to lose the ball in dangerous areas.

I don't think he should start. Jenas and Tainio in the middle for me.

I have to agree with this one.
Huddlestone's casual manner and the way he nonchalently passes the ball give the impression he's a bit of an artist type player.
Unfortunately I don't think he's that great a passer and he certainly doesn't have the mobility or aggression needed to play CM at the top level.

I actually thought he had a good gam 2day, i think he is a good young player and will get better. One critism for him is that he does loose the ball quiet often

I saw the 'Huddlestone- The Most...' on the main forum page, and just knew the next word would be overrated.

who overrates him? the answer is WE do! he is 19 years old i believe, he has some amazing spells, but he isnt the worldbeater we want him to be yet. it looks like he's being trained to be a midfielder, or at least a defensive midfielder. for a position like that he neds to mature into the role.

i'm not going to hde behind the 'young squad' eqcuse, because we have some established internationals in our squad that are anything but 'young', but there are still a few players in our team that need to mature. of the top of my head, Dawson, Huddlestone, Lennon, these are all young players, with Dawson being the oldest at 23. because we see players like Rooney or Fabregas or Owen playing world class football at 17 and 18, we all automatically assume that if a player isnt very good or world class at say 25 we might as well drop him. look at someone like Joe Cole. he's about 26, he didnt even get a lookin at the england team till he was about 23, same with Owen Hargreaves, again about he only started playing national about a year or so ago.

we the fans are pushing the younger players too hard. we expect them to be the best in the world before they have even reached a quarter of a century, and how do you think they feel? just because someones career probably wont reach much past 30 doesn't mean they have to be amazing only halfway down the line.

He has shown touches of class at times, but all is not improving as fast as we all thought he would.

He's made nearly forty league appearances for us now and hasn't turned into Fabregas. This is totally unacceptable and I'm very unhappy indeed about the situation.

Technically IMO Huddlestone is the best midfielder at the club. He has improved his overall fitness, although we lost to Arsenal, Huddlestone showed in that game he can get around the pitch.

I have high hopes for Thudd and Taarbart(genius) I believe JJ is underrated and our biggest problem (repeat) is the inexperience at central defence and a crap goal keeper...it has to be said.

Huddlestone is slightly over rated and I have mentioned this to Joey when arguing about Zokora.(Joey being a champion of Huddlestone). He has good passing range but needs time to do it and the premiership doesn't always afford you this time on the ball. Get up him and he is far less useful than Zokora who does not panic if he has a bloke up his arse (ooh er). It's not that Hudd is slow exactly it's that he definately isn't very mobile - he doesn't change direction very well. When I first saw Huddlestone I thought he would make a good CB. But at times he gets out muscled in the middle by smaller players so I'm not sure if he could play CB in the prem.

The answer for me, something I've been advocating for months, would be to switch - certainly away and tough homes - to a 5 midfield. It would play more to the strengths of all our players.

Something like:

Lennon Jenas Hudd Zok Bale

1. It would compensate for the deficiencies of each midfielder and bring out their strengths.

2. Defensively we are frail. 5 midfielders would offer more protection.

3. Another problem is who to chose to play with Berb. Keane is out of form, Defoe out of favour and Bent and Berb is a poor combo. Stick either Berb or Bent up front on their own, with support coming from the midfielders, especially the wide players. Like all good 4-5-1's it becomes a 4-3-3 fluidly.

All this is pointless though as Jol is absoloutely incapable of changing his tactics or playing to the strngths of players. It's always 442 with at least 2 players out of position.

I don't know if he's the most over rated because frankly, we have a few players who that applies to.

Can't run.

Can't Tackle(and bottles out of them).

Poor Workrate.

Can't even turn.

Strolls around the pitch like he's a footballing God.

Passing ability is overrated. I've noticed that his passing range range is very limited. All he can do are long distance passes to the wing or chipped balls over the defence. You very rarely see him play eye of a needle passes...or passes forward ALONG THE GROUND......players like carrick and Fabregas do it for fun. Huddlestone doesn't seem to be able to do it.

Im not basing this on tonights match. He was like this against Villa and boro aswell.

He's young and has been getting better every game.

The kid is 19 or 20. Give him a break. He was bought for the future but because the rest of our midfielders haven't stepped up to the plate he has been thrown into the deep end big time. If you think back to a year ago we had JJ, Zokora, TT, Murphy, Steed, Lennon, Ghaly and no doubt I've forgotten others all available. But from them we couldn't find a central midfield pairing that did the job adequately on a consistent basis.

Hudd needs someone alongside him to do the mopping up. But at the moment he is expected to do everything.

I'd like to see him play with Kaboul alongside him, with Kaboul in the DM role. Now that might work. But asking Hudd or indeed any other midfielder to do absolutely everything when they are 20 years old is crazy.

Huddlestone is still 20 for fuck sake.
He obviously isn't in Fabregas' league, few are, but he is still very young and a lot is being asked of him.

However, a few slaps on the face to make him angry, and a jab with a hot poker, wouldn't do any harm to make him more assertive:bang:. He needs some one to get him going.

The bit about the formation is spot on. With the players we have we cannot play a 4-4-2 effectively, we must play with a 5 across the centre. This would allow you to play a holding player with 2 ahead of him or an attacking player with 2 behind him. It would make retaining the ball easier, winning it back easier, and also would make the transition between defendingand attacking far more fluid.

If we are going to play players like hudd and taraabt we will not be able to do it in a 4-4-2 which means that they will stagnate and/or leave.

We are the only team in the top 8 who play with such a flat formation.
