Although I'm afraid I can't substantiate it, I'm certain I saw some stats (probably posted on here somewhere) fairly recently that Lennon has more assists and more goals playing from the left than from the right.

And I think he's scored more goals with his left foot too!

I think Lennon can be very effective beating people on the left. He can't cross or shoot with his left foot, but he can't with his right either, so what difference does it make what side he plays on? I wanna see him beat people with pace. I don't really care about the end product as long there's excitement involved. I'm a Tottenham fan, you see.

oooooooh buuuuuurned

i am also of the school that lennon does a decent enough job at left, not brilliant, but hes hardly been brilliant on the right for a while either

According to a post on FTL ,TT gave an interview after the game to Finnish TV stating that he was suprised to have been brought on as he was not fit only having had one practise match since injury. He was also not sure which wing he was supposed to play on and during the game was told at least four times to swap wings he was currently on.
So despite having an England specialist winger to put on ,our genius manager puts on a half fit player without even giving him clear instructions as to where to play.Even worse when he does put on AL he manages to put him on the wrong wing too.
Please Jol fans explain how this is the boards fault.

Totally inept is a bit much, we all know Jol is far from the master tactician, in fact it is without a doubt his big weakness.

However who else do we have to play? I think the problem stems back to the summer again. Yes we came through the transfer window with a few signings, but can anyone seriously say that we have a better starting XI than last season, even a better squad?? The only player that i can think is a noticable improvement is Bale.

You look at someone like Newcastle from last night - they have signed some players which although not overly hyped seem to be very effective for them. And don't even get me started on Man City!!

It's a) in Bill_Oddie's ever-changing sig; b) a line from a song and; c) explained that it wasn't meant to patronise.

Christ almighty.

A bit touchy today are you?

I would have thought that an educated old boy such as yourself would be a bit more choosy with words so as not to patronise people.

Trust your eyes not the stats.

Some good clips of him on the left. He does score against Wigan, Bolton and Chelsea with his left.

thing is with city and newcastle though is that they had to build a team from pretty much nothing, which is a bit easier than buying to improve the squad, the scattergun approach can lead to some decent signings like it did for us with fun time frankie

Well, at the moment Lennon isn't doing it on the left or right, I actually thought he had some of his better games playing in the hole behind the front two. More of a worry for me is the amount of space we seem to be leaving attacking teams, both in front of the centre backs and behind the full backs (Chimbonda) I would see that as the perfect combination for conceding lots of goals. Which we have.

true, but we missed out on some quality players, due to reputation or wage demands. i'm happy that from an ethical view point we have a wage structure in place, but it doesn't half hurt our chances of progressing. Petrov in particular would have been a great signing, as would Geremi or Elano, plus a few others. But no, we went for KPB - our only midfield addition (i'm not counting Bale as he was a LB). not only that but we sold murphy (i know he was pants) and also Ghaly is in limbo.

so basically we took what was our weakest area last season and made it weaker, whilst teams around us signed some brilliant players that we could easily have got.

combine that with Dawson's new found skill of constantly back-peddling and giving stikers space and you have a recipe for a disastrous season........

Chill people, the voice of calm is here....

We will have a good reaction on Thursday and Sunday to these games. If not for the manager but because people don't really enjoy having the crap kicked out of them publicly.

Not even the most destraught fan can see anything other than progression in the cup next week and a 3 game winning streak with 1 defeat in 10 will bring back the heppy people.

Firstly if Jol gambled that Thursday's game was more important than monday's game he was wrong. ie leaving Berbatov on the bench for Thursday.

Secondly the substitutions were a bit daft as usual. We are losing so he swaps an attacker for the only truely attacking creative midfielder. Who's going to create the ammo for our 3 pronged attack ? then at 3-1 down he literally reverses the previous substitution by swapping a striker for a right midfield creator.

Logic ?

didnt berbatov get a knock playing for bulgaria in the week? if thats the case then its perfectly logical to bench him in the hope that by thursday he will be fully fit

Berbatov was benched because of our upcoming fixture list. BC is right, last night was just as/if not more important than Thursday. Then again, with the effort Berba put in when he come on, i doubt it would have mattered too much.

Where at all possible, lennon should be on the right. Get him back to what he knows best, the basics of going by his man and crossing. He seems to be low on confidence and the pressure of being our only midfield outlet means he's doubled up whenever he gets the ball. The only way to rectify this is by giving him game time to keep persevering. No point playing carthorses like TT in his place.

Newcastle were as bad as us for the first 43 minutes and their fans were starting to get a bit restless. Say we scored first, it could have just as easily been the other way round. I am not suggesting that Jol is a master tactician or even that he is likely to be here in a few weeks, but when he brought Keane on for Defoe and the game turned for us, he was roundly boo'd and I cannot remember anyone saying that it was a tactical masterstroke at the time.

It is quite frustrating reading this board (and numerous others) at times as we will happily gloss over the positives (should have beaten Liverpool/ played exceptionally well at OT) to concentrate on the negatives. This season has not gone well so far, but to replace the manager, coaching staff, board, half the team and anyone else associated with the club is a bit drastic, especially without a viable alternative. How do we know what is going on behind the scenes, MJ may be packing his bags but could equally be sitting down the the coaching staff and senior management devising a strategy to overcome the weaknesses in the team.

I have said before and will continue to say, that Jol often sets the team up in a very good manner. Once the game has started, it is often the case that we dominate at home and stifle away from home. We are a bit fragile confidence wise, but that will return as it often happens, and we have seen down the road what can happen when you have a young talanted team that is brimming with confidence. The good times will return and WHL will start rocking again as we start to turn some of the draws over the lats few weeks into wins and some of the defeats.... oh hang on, WE HAVE ONLY LOST ONE GAME IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!
