6!? More than anyone on here rates, then...

Yes, according to SC the entire squad is total shite, or has been at one time or another. Jol should therefore be given credit as a true miracle worker.

...by those that proclaim the entire squad total shite, of course. The rest of us know he's not Helen Keller.

Perhaps it was lost in translation...."there are six players I would never have touched....let alone got near with a barge pole".

Typical ITK crap. Overhearing a convo between Ramos and Poyet???? So they have this serious "team analysis" conclusion convo in the middle of a hallway or something where others are around? Don't you think perhaps they might meet in a private room alone? Plus they'd be speaking in Spanish so even if someone happened to do the "drinking glass against door" trick to listen in they'd have to know Spanish! I can't believe how many of you are buying this!

This has to be :bs:

There's no way he can comment on players like: Taarabt, KPB, Bale, Ekotto....as they have barely played 20 games between them.

But i'll add (in descending height order) my two cents worth anyway:

Kaboul
Berbatov
Bent
Zokora
Defoe
Lennon

as much as I doubt JR would leak such valuable and potentially crippling information, I would have t agree with the rumours.

I don't think our squad are good enough. We cannot compare with the likes of bb, man city, portsmouth and everton who have squad strength and talent where it's needed. While we're weak in goal, def and mid, the aforementioned teams are not.

While Everton don't have the most elusive strike force, they make up for it with a solid and goal-scoring midfield in Arteta and Cahill etc.

Portsmouth have strength all over, especially in midfield and attack, with Utaka, Muntari, Benjani etc.

Man City are playing superbly right now and their team has like boosted ligt years ahead of itself with theclever inclusions of Elano and Petrov. They too have strength all over the field from their oal to their attack.

Not even going to bother comparing us to the big 4 because, right now and forthe rest of the season, it will be the likes of the above (and below) teams who will be worrying us. The teams mentioned have better plays in almost all positions and if not, then they compensate by playing well as a team - something we can't do this season.

So even if JR didn't say this, he definately knows it.

Blackburn I agree - but what do you expect from a settled team that's had years to play with each other? And despite Zokora and Huddlestone contriving to give the ball away, we still had the lion share of possession against them and were pretty unlucky not to get some form of result against them.

While Everton don't have the most elusive strike force, they make up for it with a solid and goal-scoring midfield in Arteta and Cahill etc.

When you say elusive, did you mean something completely different?

Johnson can't buy a goal at the moment. It says something that their CB/LB is their top scorer (mostly from set pieces). Cahill hasn't scored in the League and Arteta only has one. So that's hardly a goal-scoring midfield is it? Our left back/midfielder has more than them.

Portsmouth have strength all over, especially in midfield and attack, with Utaka, Muntari, Benjani etc.

Still shipped 4 against Reading. Saved by their strikeforce on a number of occasions - it helps that Newcastle started defending at the 15th minute (0-3) as opposed to when the whistle blew. I think those two games flatter them hugely. In fact take out those 11 goals, and they've scored 12.

Man City are playing superbly right now and their team has like boosted ligt years ahead of itself with theclever inclusions of Elano and Petrov. They too have strength all over the field from their oal to their attack.

If you watched Man City defend in any of their last 3 games, you'll see that Sven has been somewhat fortunate that Elano is a bit good. Bianchi is a pile of poo and will be off in Jan. Take Elano out of that City team and they'd be 10th. Destroyed by Chelsea, frequently opened up (at home) by Sunderland - they're weak at the back especially without Richards.

But I'm hoping I'm agreeing with you that the reason we're not doing well is that we're leaking goals. Up top we're fine. But the two critical pairings in central midfield and central defence are the problems. I'd say we have half of those positions sorted. We need an experienced CB and a CM. Ledders come back and A.N.Other for CM!

Stoof, just a minor point. Zokora completed 42 out 55 passes against Blackburn. Huddlestone 27/54. 77% compared to 50%. Whilst you may think that both were contriving to give the ball away, it would appear that Huddlestone was far more successfull at it.

I've told you before about the jinxing effect your avitar has on players. Perhaps I might suggest Ghaly for the smurf hat ? damage limitation and all that.

Yeah that did read as though I lumped them both together very blasé of me - I actually thought Zokora had a pretty good 60 minutes before fading. Definitely better than the shocking Huddlestone. :-( Let's hope the drop down to the ressies was a kick up the arse.

But it worked for Murphy and Berbatov? :-(

Hossmurf Ghaly eh?

  • All 4 forwards, Lennon, Bale, Lee, King are quality (8 players)
  • Chimbonda, Jenas, maybe Dawson have been good before and can be good again with a bit of momentum, confidence and simple organisation/training (3 players)
  • Kaboul, Taarabt, Boateng and maybe Benoit are all very young and promising - need some experience and training (4 players)
  • Zokora, Hudd, Tainio, Gardner, Stalteri, the 2 keepers, Rocha all fit into the same category. Good enough for the premiership but will probably never be good enough for the top teams. Nevertheless they are useful squad players for the time being (8 players)
Routledge I'm not sure about at all and Ghaly is never playing for us again by the looks of things.

So I'm pretty sure this alleged conversation is total bollocks. I wonder if the source speaks Spanish at all. I'd happy challenge him as I'm kinda fluent.

Y'know, i just re-read the title of this thread - "Ramos only rates 6 players" - it doesn't say anywhere it's 6 SPURS players he rates

It's probably Kanoute, Henry, Messi, Alves, Ronaldinho & Van der Vaart or something

It's almost certainly BS. But if we're just asking which 6 players are keepers I would say

King
Berba
Keane
Robbo
Bale
Bent

As you can see 3 of them are strikers. Defoe is my 4th choice striker and if we don't need 4 strikers then he'd be gone. Bale is the only "midfielder" in the top 6. Lennon would be a possibility but he's a shadow of his former self and even then he still can't cross. If Ramos can do anything it should be to get Lennon back on form.

I pray to all the gods that one of those players he rates isn't Jenas.

I cant see why he would rate him, if Ramos is as astute and as smart as a lot of people make him out to be then i reckon Ramos will have already seen through Jenas, but i'm praying with you all the same!
