I just think these cobbled together(for want of a better phrase) Europa teams just don't work, the '1st11' are a well oiled machine and the latter looks like a combination of not good enoughs/couldn't be arsed

Sanchez's confidence is totally shot. A shadow of the player we saw a few years ago that covered for Toby and Verts so well.

Ludogrets entered our half twice. The point is they will win some, lose some. But the drop in quality is huge. Sometimes it's made out that we have a squad where we have players that can come straight in and the quality doesn't drop. That's not true.
I'm gonna kind of contradict some of my previous posts here.
We do have quality and depth to our squad but NOBODY can make massive wholesale changes like we did and expect a decent performance. Nobody.
So I do expect a drop in performance with that many changes but I dont accept a complete lack of effort and ability.
No matter the players you as an individual are playing with it doesnt make you incapable of taking a throw in, standing upright, closing players down and, God forbid, completing a 5yd pass to a team member. If that was a pub team you'd think theu were all hanging from the night before.
Performances like that worry me greatly. It's like they dont give a fk. Or maybe think Europa is beneath them? I expect to see people fighting to get in the startong 11 at the weekend. Fk me not 1 of them should be anywhere near it. Obviously Son and Ndombele will but it won't be based on that performance.
Ok I'm done. Onto the scum.

Well, it's not true in tonight's game.

Big problem with this team is complacency. If we’re not careful we’ll get turned over by Marine in the cup.

I dont think it was complacency in the main, there was a lot of effort. I think the balance was wrong.

He was poor again tonight. Didn’t even try an defend the shot for the first goal and got worse with every clearance.

...add that to the fact you are coming up against a team who are well up for it and you have a recipe for disaster.

When Jose was at United he struggled to get consistent performances in Europa too, especially against the minnows. I think it's cause most of his best teams have a strong mentality to cope, especially in the bigger games, when he gives fringe players a chance they lack that strong mentality to get the job done. Having said that, maybe missing Vini made things harder in terms of strategy. The ball never really stuck up top.

Awful game but at least a positive result in the end (we'd have still needed to beat Antwerp to win the group had we'd won).

Poor effort overall from the lads. Cut some slack for the lads with it being poor conditions out there but felt like they were trying to get through the game with as minimal effort as possible. You can't do that away against these teams. They were bang up for it tonight.

Just hoping the few starters that played tonight are not too leggy on Sunday. Goons managed to rest their whole first team tonight.

Massive game for both sides. Us to keep momentum going and hopefully play some better football, them to kick start their season.

Surprised Vinicius didn't manage to play today. It just got me more worried that Mourinho is saving him for Sunday, and I'm not sure if that is a good thing as that means Kane could be fighting to be fit?

A lot of wayward passing, bad decisions and loose touches - all complacency based problems. If it's mostly the system you tend to see players passing into spaces where no-one is to receive, I didn't really see that, I just saw some general poor passing and touches which hints to bad mentality.

"NOBODY" - did you see the Liverpool starting 11 the other night compared to what it would be with a fully fit squad? They played really well and won the game against Ajax, who had a lot to play for. So I don't agree with you. What we need is to continue to improve our squad, too many players who are not good enough at the Europa group stages, let alone the top level.

It wasn't great, but we have 10 games in a month (counting up to Leeds on 2nd January) and this was the least important one (even if we had won we still would need to beat Antwerp to top the group)

I just hope we put in a performance against Arsenal and don't play shit defensive tactics.

I'm not convinced by Mourinho yet, but if we beat Arsenal he deserves some credit for a good run of form.

We had quite a lot of that last Sunday too but no-one was saying 'complacency based'. When we perform poorly like this it isnt always complacency or lack of effort.

But the biggest thing we learned today, Ndombele Hojbjerg and GLC did not work out as we have played them over and over on FIFA

Whilst I do think there is merit in his fitness and getting him up to speed - I also think he's showing flashes - Bale has been a disappointment in a couple of big moments so far. The chance vs West Ham where he shanked his shot and tonight when he failed to square it to Sonny, simply.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting him to be 100% at it with the ball and in construction, however I was expecting him to be on it in those moments, that's essentially why we brought him back - help us to convert chances better and make a difference in the big moments.

Hopefully he's saving it for bigger games and moments.

On reflection, the player I'd say I was most disappointed with was Bale. He is a World Class, highly decorated player with vast experience. With Kane out, he is the player who should have been looking at the lacklustre performance and saying right, time to take the lead here.

He's a leader for Wales, he needs to start seeing himself as one for Spurs.

The Honeymoon is over now, his fitness should be virtually up there, he needs to start pushing himself now and start affecting games positively.

Yeah I was thinking tonight, it’s not really going to plan is it? He looks like he’s going to need a lot of work to get up to speed. I’m not sure he will though. It’s a long season though.

Weird game, very disjointed performance from every single player.

Pretty poor effort all round.
