I think you're being a bit optimistic personally if you think Sessegnon would have seen any game time as a LB this season.I am not sure that is the case. Not only yesterday Doherty played on the right and Davies on the left. Nothing to do with Reguilon. If we would have kept Sessegnon, I doubt we would have used the overlapping on the right system.
Even if, Doherty has not shown much promise going forward either. Look at the first goal we conceeded. He fell over far up the pitch and lost the ball. That had nothing to do with his RB position.
Yeah I suppose its Sanchez fault that doherty was constantly leaving space in behind for Lask to attack down our right side. Glenn Hoddle even mentioned it during the commentary.Aurier’s form has made him look a poor signing. But then so has KWPs form at Southampton.
He was pretty bloody awful tonight, but it can’t have helped having Sanchez alongside him.

Aurier has become better but this is revisionism because I don't think anyone saw it as making Aurier better at the time. It's highly likely he was signed to replace Aurier in the starting XI but it hasn't worked out that way because Aurier stuck around unexpectedly, upped his game and Doherty has been crap.
I don't see the need to retroactively change the narrative - but agree it's been a net positive in that Aurier has improved despite Doherty disappointing so far
You we're trying to blame Sanchez for doherty's poor performance.Thats not what I said, is it.

The change in system brought in by the signing of Reguilon is probably what has done for Doherty. He was ideal for a niche role that is now redundant. I don't think he's as bad as he has looked recently but I certainly think Aurier has pushed well ahead recently, the one upside of competition for places.
I think said change of system and the signing of Reguilon is a big part of why things are going as well as they are, just unlucky for Matt that it seems to have had such a negative impact on him. Still plenty of time for him to turn things around and we mustn't forget he did pop up with a key assist away at WBA.
Well the main faults with doherty performance was the space he constantly left in behind leaving other players to cover the holes and him constantly giving the ball away up field and falling over, so I'm not sure what influence Sanchez had over that.No. I said it didn’t help his performance.
There’s a difference.
I hope you're right, it's just that he just looks like a competition winner at the moment.
Is that really necessary?could do more on the pitch in 40 mins than drunkard Doherty at LASK.
NO! ESS SEEE ANGGREE! ESS SEE NO LIKEY GINGER RIGHT BACk. ESS SEE WANT BLOOD ?Wonder how long it will take for people to start really going for him. His “connections” to arsenal won’t help his cause much either.
He will probably be the first to admit that he had a shocker last night. Let’s give him the season to find some form and then reassess his signing. The fact that Serge has seen a huge improvement points to the fact that his signing has made a positive impact on the team and squad.
He isnt a RB.Disappointed so far. I really thought he would hit the ground running because of his experience.
I watched him a fair bit at Wolves, but I don't ever remember him being as bad going forward as he is for us. Assist for Kane vs. Brom aside I can't remember him ever really having an impact in the final third. I can forgive him for his defensive frailties as he's clearly a shit defender, but he has to at least balance it out by being a half-decent attacking full-back.He isnt a RB.
