Can Boeteng be our general?

Has he got the maturity/discipline/positioning to play the deeper role? I hope so.

He was on the right today but was getting stuck in all over the pitch...

Can Boeteng become the half-German-half-Ghanaian Roy Keane/Veira/Savage figure we've craved for so long??! He's our most exciting player at the moment by far. Taraabt clearly hasn't floated JR's boat.

:) Q - ok I'll withdraw the 'Zoko & Boateng wouldn't work well' line

but I have to say they probably wouldn't :)

Very diplomatic rhetorics.

I think they would as long as Zokora only does what he can, defend and chase the ball, then give it to the others.

Malbranque was poor going forward, though he did help set up the goal. On the other hand I applaud him on tracking back and getting stuck in defensively and helping us out there.

IMO Jenas did nothing much, all he seem to do was pass to the defenders, what lead in a lot of long poor long balls from Dawson and Kaboul.

A lot of people saying Jenas had a good game but he rarely tried to get pass Zokora it was like playing with 2 DM. Nothing came thoru the middle of the pitch ebery thing we tried had to go out wide

So JJ had more passes than any other Spurs player - he was more accurate in passing than any other Spurs player - it was his free kick that led to the vital opener - and he got in a great position to score but Bent panicked and he nearly scored himself with a good shot late on - yet 'he did nothing much'

Indeed not only did JJ play more passes than any Spurs player he played more passes than any City player too -

yet 'he did nothing much'

ah well it's all about opinions

Fortunately the last two managers have a far higher opinion of JJ than his many critics - and I'm grateful about that :)

well said.
and i think you could also add that JJ HAD TO drop deeper today due to zoko's shocking passing, hence nullifying his attacking threat.
i've also been impressed with how much his defensive qualities have improved - he's been making a lot of important tackles whilst also taking on a lot more responsibility and helping out the team all over the pitch

Also today was the first time, under Ramos, that Zokora hasn't played as a holding midfielder and at times actually got into the oppositon box, so JJ had to drop back more than usual.

:) spurs 4 europe and well said yourself in turn - and as 57 said an absolutely crucial defensive tackle that was probably a goal saver

Was anyone else impressed with City? I thought seeing as they were without arguably their 2 most important players and don't have a top quality striker, they did very well. If they had a quality striker they'd be a very good side.

interesting Joey - Sven was at pains to point how well he thpought City played today - so it was a real acheivement to beat them

we were lucky to be sure with our first goal - but considering our players nerves & city's confident display a massive 3 points

after Berbs i thought Petrov was the best player on the pitch and in Dunne and Richards they have two good/monster defenders but Berbs gave them hell :)

A nit-picky problem

Can anyone explain to me why Ramos took off Lennon at 1-1 today? He had the left back in his pocket, the left back was walking the tight rope of being on a yellow card. Two minutes before Lennon was taken off he had roasted the full back twice and delivered the ball into the box, only to turn round and be told his coming off to be replaced by a central midfield who never looks comfortable when he plays out of position. Thought it was a bit strange

Worked didn't it? Although, I too was puzzled.

Possibly to make sure that we dominated possession in the centre later on. Make it easier to keep the ball and harder for Citeh to break etc...just an idea.

Just got back - Im happy. No real complaints to make, except possibly that Defoe should have been on from the start (despite good link up between Berba and Bent) and that the man normally next to me gave his season ticket to the most cretinous friend imaginable who professed that he thought Huddlestone was our best player first half.

Malbranque was class and Daws and Kaboul (despite the passes) looked more solid.

When anyone with a brain could clearly see Ghaly was much better.

Yep, I can.

He was crap. He might 'roast' a full-back but his final ball is crap, always has been.

He's been found out.

(why do people keep spelling 'he's' as 'his'?)

yep Kaboul & Daws did ok - for sure Kaboul's clearances at times were weak - but at least they were clearances not 'dilly dallyers' :)

I assume it was to give chimbonda help stopping petrov who was causing all kind of problems, especially when chimbonda went forward and just strolled back.
