Custard. Just say NO.

I don't think that was in context. I think he meant 'composure.' And that's not me putting words in his mouth - the manner he used 'compromise' didn't make sense because he was speaking both times about the on-pitch performance and the word didn't fit properly.Interesting Jose said the players “compromised” today....
God I miss going to games.
I think that was bad defending.
It think you're wrong, look.
Oh yes, so I was. Pint?
Rather than getting sniped at like we're on Question Time debating the f-ing death penalty.
Anyway much needed win. Not flawless, but hugely improved attitude and tempo for 70 minutes.
COYS.
The thing is Sanchez is a capable defender in many aspects, what he is not good at is sitting deep and dealing with constant balls into the box. He wasn't bought for that, he was bought for his ability 1v1 and his pace, as those things were important under Poch, less so under Jose. Today he looked good, but in large part, because we kept the ball, we didn't just kick it long and invite pressure on us. Having a ballplayer like Ndombele helps, but more than that, it's not really a personnel thing, something clearly happened, there was no 'safety first I'm going to clear it out' sort of thing, we were more patient we played from the back and therefore our defence didn't have to be defending for, like 60 minutes a game like we normally do and we managed to create more chances too.
Our defence isn't perfect, but it's not horrible. In terms of goals conceded we are second in the league, we haven't even conceded many goals in any game. Only Liverpool have got three past us. The perception that our defence is bad comes from the fact our defence is caught out making mistakes, but they make mistakes after long periods of time being attacked without a moments rest, of course, you make mistakes, unless you have a truly exceptional defence, you will if you play like that, because you're doing so much defending. Find a pass from the defence, don't play a long ball unless a long ball is clearly on. Don't clear the ball unless under pressure to clear it, make movement patterns so defenders automatically know where to pass it to, all of these things are what most teams do these days and it's stuff we haven't really done before, and for me, this was confirmed by the insider source reporting to the independent (fully believe the source because I understand how journalism works and it confirms what we've seen before this season). Today that seemed to change, that is more important than who plays where. A consequence of playing less quickly, is I suspect we won't see quite as many Kane Son combinations, but I think we will be better for it, and better to watch too. WBA are probably the worst team in the league mind. So, lets see what happens.
I get that you see it that way, but surely you also see that we were sent out by the manager to be much more aggressive, higher up the pitch and pressing the ball?Quite the opposite for me Japhet. The performance today was a marked improvement precisely because the players put the effort in. The intensity was higher, the movement off the ball much better (no traffic cones out there today), the cohesion, communication and intent to work as a team all improved. JM hasn’t magically coached that into them in 2 days, they just raised their effort levels and it showed.
My point is we know where our level is.
It doesn't change with this result vs WBA with 70% possession and it doesn't change with whatever result vs City with 30% possession.
We will walk into the match vs Everton back to playing like we did vs Brighton and whatever other teams where we've looked second-best. Hoping Kane and Son can do something and we can sit on the first goal, and likely hopeless if we concede the first goal.
If people look at this result (which wasn't even a particularly good attacking display compared to others we've had this year despite being vs the worst team in the league) thinking something has changed vs Brighton (OK, apart from Kane being in) - it hasn't. It's the same time that struggled in Bulgaria or wherever the hell we were at the start of the season.
It's a shame when that happens. It's very dispiriting. What’s the point supporting us if your upset when we win
As I’ve said in previous posts, I don’t think JM is entirely absolvable of blame for our poor performances either, and you may have a good point.I get that you see it that way, but surely you also see that we were sent out by the manager to be much more aggressive, higher up the pitch and pressing the ball?
Could it not be that the much more proactive approach from the manager helped to galvanise the players and produce a much more energised performance?
Ultimately, I find it extremely difficult to believe that the frequent negative displays that we've had under Jose is entirely down to the players not trying?
If that was the case, why did they try today?
The one who's really disappointed me this season on the goalscoring front is Lloris. Precisely zero goals. He needs to pull his finger out.Yeah, I'm so bloody sick of our attackers scoring the majority of the goals.
As I’ve said in previous posts, I don’t think JM is entirely absolvable of blame for our poor performances either, and you may have a good point.
The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.
What I have said previously though is that JM has stated he doesn’t want them to play so deeply, both he and the coaches have been seen, and heard, on the sidelines exhorting them to push up the pitch, and Kane himself has said that the players haven’t been doing what they have been coached to do, so it’s difficult to point at the coaching and instructions to say that they are to blame for the attitude of the players. When they execute as they’ve been instructed we generally win, when they don’t...
It appears that they did what they were told and, hey presto, a relatively comfortable 3 points with a largely dominant display.
Maybe they’ve sat them down and showed them video of the games we’ve won, where they followed the system, against video where we haven’t so the players can see the stark difference between the performances.
It’s exactly what I would do anyway.
A colleague of mine is friends with Gallagher and is also a chelsea fan (Gallagher is on loan from Chelsea) I text him after the match "Tell your Robbie savage wannabe mate that he's not good enough for men's football"Gallagher makes me want to get off my couch, get on intense fitness regimen, join my local club get myself into the team, get talent scouted at 33, sign for a non league team, win player of the year and earn a move to a league club, work my way up to the championship where Gallagher will end up, get the start vs his team, go in knee high on him Souey style in the 3rd minute, get a straight red and retire in the dressing room

Moura is one of those that need upgrading he struggles with end product consistently. For all my complaining about the manager the idea that he has lost the players is not born out today there was plenty of effort from all the players . My only gripe is Moura all that skill all that effort but the final pass and the shot at the end of a great run is just not there it is such a pity because if he could complete a pass and shoot on goal at the end of a run things would be so much better but I find myself unable to fault his effort .
I’d understand that if Rodon was slow but he isn’tMay be he wants to play a higher line? We can only do that with a quick centre back (Sanchez).
Take Harry off, he wouldn’t allow that.I'm hoping that this is indicative of a desire to smash into them from the off, score a few and then take Harry off but we'll see.
I saw the word attack in the advertDid anyone see that advert just now, for the mobile footy game, with José? I lol'd.
