Just a general point. How many players that go down this route of "being held against their will" actually put in a written transfer request? Genuine question as I can think of a few that have played this card but can't think of any willing to forgo their loyalty bonus to leave.Well, it's not nothing I guess, it's paying 50m a year for 3 years of Harry Kane. Not sure if that adds up to maximised value from the deal, by it's defo not nothing.
Assuming he is desperate to leave (I still haven't seen stronger than a crossroads, and wanting a discussion, but admittedly may have missed it), the issue to me more lies with up and coming players seeing we've held on against his will, and blocked his career goals and steering clear of us if so, as they don't want the same to happen.
