I’m not so sure. As it stands, we’re just as weak in the RB position as we were last year. The same can be said for central midfielder, where we are urgently lacking a creative type. Romero and Bryan are potentially brilliant signings but they’re almost certainly not yet Toby/ Bale standards, so for now we’re also weaker in those positions. We also don’t have a back up CF to alleviate some of the pressure on Kane- Scarlett is still very raw and inexperienced; it’s great to see him getting opportunities but is he Vinicius level yet?

If we don’t make any more key signings before the window closes, I’d say we’re much weaker than we were last season. And we should be careful using the table as an indicator of future success so early in the season- it didn’t turn out great for us in the end last year.

I’m not suggesting we won’t get anyone else in, but I think it would be deluded to think we’ll be suitably competitive if we don’t sign anyone else
you're ignoring the stunning additions of Tanganga and Skipp and we've kept Kane and Son signed a new contract . I reckon by anyone's standards that's a pretty successful outcome

I suspect we may go for Aouer on deadline day if nothing else much is happening. Pure opinion, but we've been told he's lined up as a back up option should we require it. Personally, I think he could really add something against teams that sit back on us. Having said that, he may have been dependant on Ndombele moving. And now I've talked myself back to square one

I’m usually pretty positive about things, but I just can’t see us filling all those key positions in the next 36 hours. In fact, I will bet you £20 into the SC coffers that we don’t sign a striker, a creative midfielder and a defender before the deadline.
Striker might be tricky - forward though. I’m already out of pocket to Gibbo. Let’s just wait and see, I understand your concerns but this thread just gets full of people’s negativity and spirals. See manager thread for example of that.

So if we can save the conclusions on the window until after the window that would be much appreciated.

No need for the bed wetting. It's like we forget that Romero is a huge addition, we bought a quality keeper (succession plan) and have skip, and Gil who is an extreme talent. That's three or four players who could start in our 11 and are part of the 1st team squad. Most teams dont do that much change to their team in one hit. So overall that's a great window.

But our patience, or lack of, reflects the larger surgery required about out goings and replacements.

It's been a good window
We’ve signed one first team player? Don’t let our league position fool you, this squad is weaker than it was last year 100%.

Fair enough mate, let’s just hope for some positive info today then.

top of the league, signed two of the brightest young talents in Europe. The defender of the season in Serie A last year and a long term successor to Hugo as well as keeping the best striker in the world and having a manager who is getting the best out of the squad rather than the worst. I would love Adama and a creative CM but i'm not going to panic if we don't and we are absolutely not in a position to panic buy for the sake of it and end up with another Sissoko for 5 years before we can shift them finally for peanuts. Its ok to be disappointed if we don't sign anyone else but there is really a lot to be positive about at the moment rather than venting rage and panic.

Couldn’t agree more. Rebuilds take multiple windows, this is just the start. Also too much change too soon can lead to instability negatively impacting results.

Players like Winks, Sanchez, Doherty… clearly back themselves to find form and play their way into the new managers plans, rather than leave now. So best of luck to them - they play well, we play well. If not, by January/next summer it will become clearer to them (and others) whose not going to play and we’ll be able to move them on (which they won’t agree to now) and replace them with the funds recouped. (Almost) no club can afford to just write off these investment and wages.

We can’t forgot existing players like Rodon, Sessegnon & Skipp have yet to barely feature and have their chance, whilst we’ve (hopefully) not seen the best of big money signings like Lo Celso & Ndombele yet. Add to the impact of Nuno’s coaching and the team improving as a unit… oh and our winning start, it’s hardly panic stations!

When you consider our financial situation, not sure *realistically* what more we expected…

Can’t see how people disagree with this. Agreed we are stronger at GK and CB but RB is arguably weaker, Winger is weaker (I like Gil but he isn’t Bale) and we now have no backup ST.

I think we have to be a bit realistic on this guys, the way that chump who pretended to be an Italian Spurs fan (I was duped too…) and know everything about Paratici has skewed a lot of our thinking/expectation on this.

I’m struggling to remember what was genuine ITK about how he works and what was fantasy made up from the Psychopath.
Romano has said pretty much the same thing about Paratici regarding using the media to his advantage

I think something that most people are underestimating is the improvement we will see in all of our players due to the absence of that parasite Mourinho.... one of the best managers in football history a decade ago but now an outdated dinosaur and the most damaging figure I have seen in my time as a spurs fan completely destroyed our players confidence in an attempt to make them accept his static defensive wall was the only way we could play.

Well he wasn't exactly in the starting 11 was he?
Ah no but the response was to the season not just yesterday which was just the example I used to emphasise the possibility that he was not just one for the future.

The only area we're actually short in is centre forward. Although Son and Scarlett will fill in. Every other position is well covered. We can argue over the quality but anyone saying we're left short in any other position is exaggerating. We had our most complete squad last season and now have Gollini, Romero, Skipp, Sess and Gil in for Hart, Toby, Sissoko, Lamela, Bale and Vinicius (not counting Gazzaniga or Rose as they weren't included last season). The good thing is there's plenty of youth to develop under Nuno. New man manager, new fitness regime, more positive football and plenty of room to grow. It's nowhere near as bad people suggest.

People obsess over signings and don't acknowledge that young players can improve. Sanchez under Nuno could be a totally different player under Nuno to Jose. Tanganga could push on with a run in the team. Alli could thrive in this new system and may be better with the atmosphere back. Dare I say Winks could actually push on if we get on the ball more and sit off less. Bergwijn already looks his best since he arrived. Reguilon could thrive in his second season. This team reminds me a lot of the one Poch inherited. He brought the team together, got us ultra fit and made young players better. This is what Nuno can do for us.

I still say we need an Eriksen replacement more than anything... That and a back up striker..
Bryan is, effectively, the Eriksen replacement - in this line-up.

Even Eriksen would have to play from a front-3 role in this set-up. He would not be able to slot into either Dele's, or PEH's roles.

If 3 wins out of 3 and top of the PL isn't good news then I'd don't think you are ever going to be a happy bunny
I think peoples concerns are very much valid, it’s just 3 games and we scraped those wins.
It’s great to be top, we were top at Xmas last season also, look how that turned out.

We’re under prepped and under strength for the season ahead, that’s why the concern.

I also look forward to the day Lo Celso leaves the club. In my opinion he is nowhere near Christian Eriksen. A new CAM is much needed. Son's goal yesterday was the first free kick goal since CE two years ago... A Mikkel Damsgaard or James Ward-Prowse would make us much more dangerous on set pieces.

Lo Celso is not an AM and I can't believe people are still comparing the 2. He's a CM

Wrong thread mate. I’d delete if I were you.
There’s a player thread where you can discuss this kind of opinion, but this one is specifically to discuss any ITK, otherwise you may feel a sharp shock from A&C’s ban stick! Welcome by the way
