So disappointing that we don’t look like getting Tomiyasu. Think we will regret that one.

Sounds like it’s the same old same old despite the early optimism and all the talk of things being different this time. Really looks like we just haven’t got the money to do deals and we are relying on clubs being willing to give us their players on the promise of getting money later down the line.

Reckon it’s Traore or nothing from here on in, which leaves us short in a number of key positions either way. No back up striker, no creator, only one reinforcement in defence. What a let down.
Agree liked Tomiyasu and have a feeling he will have a terrific career.

top of the league, signed two of the brightest young talents in Europe. The defender of the season in Serie A last year and a long term successor to Hugo as well as keeping the best striker in the world and having a manager who is getting the best out of the squad rather than the worst. I would love Adama and a creative CM but i'm not going to panic if we don't and we are absolutely not in a position to panic buy for the sake of it and end up with another Sissoko for 5 years before we can shift them finally for peanuts. Its ok to be disappointed if we don't sign anyone else but there is really a lot to be positive about at the moment rather than venting rage and panic.
I’m not so sure. As it stands, we’re just as weak in the RB position as we were last year. The same can be said for central midfielder, where we are urgently lacking a creative type. Romero and Bryan are potentially brilliant signings but they’re almost certainly not yet Toby/ Bale standards, so for now we’re also weaker in those positions. We also don’t have a back up CF to alleviate some of the pressure on Kane- Scarlett is still very raw and inexperienced; it’s great to see him getting opportunities but is he Vinicius level yet?

If we don’t make any more key signings before the window closes, I’d say we’re much weaker than we were last season. And we should be careful using the table as an indicator of future success so early in the season- it didn’t turn out great for us in the end last year.

I’m not suggesting we won’t get anyone else in, but I think it would be deluded to think we’ll be suitably competitive if we don’t sign anyone else

The 9 points from 3 games argument is the worst thing the club or any fan can use ! That shouldn’t change transfer plans in the slightest. We can easily go and lose the next 3 or Kane can get injured and we are short etc etc. Transfer planning shouldn’t revolve around short term results in the pitch ?
Exactly, it's not like we've been scoring from open play (bar 1 goal). As things stand we'll be relying on Kane again to bang them in.

Jules is not happening!

I think most of us on here knew this was never going to happen.

We were told that Levy has taken a backseat with transfers but this window (so far) stinks of Levy. I get that we might not have been able to get a decent striker because no one wants to come and sit on the bench hoping Kane gets injured but we have gaping holes in midfield with no creativity! Our last two one nil games proves we fail to break teams down.
People in here saying don’t be negative but it’s not about being negative, it’s just calling it as they see it. We’ve been here before countless times and even with the Italian, it’s still the same! Ok maybe he managed to get Cuti to come here as he could have sold him a dream but we’ve not really improved the first team. Just look through the threads on this forum and see how many times “Groundhog Day” is mentioned.
Anyway rant over, thanks for all your updates and trying to give us fans a look from the inside, it’s really appreciated. You’ve never seemed like someone who has an agenda either way and tells it like it is.

Of course he can. Like Ronaldo... If he watches his sleep, nutrition and training he can keep it going way into his thirties. He will be less explosive and quick, but still be a handfull. Jaromir Jagr(51!) still plays hockey at a professional level, Ronaldo and Messi are still going, Thiago Silva, etc, etc. So basicly what you are saying is plain wrong
None of the players your making a comparison with rely on pace, his pace wont last and when its gone can you see him being one of those players who can move to midfield and spray passes about? no nor me. so i recon Spud is right.

It’s no more trite than “x might get injured”.

My point was that we have a decent squad. All squads can be improved, but ours isn’t as bad as some make out.
We have one striker and haven’t replaced bale or sissoko.we have a major lack of creativity with no play maker also

I think what’s really needed now is an amiable Italian chap with solid insights into how our DOF works, but they don’t grow on trees.

Now being a international break, hope this doesn't complicate things.
If no new deals happen today or atleast seriously linked for a move tomorrow, then probably thats the end of it this window.

I'm hoping Tomiyasu is a bit of a Lo Celso esque deal where we'll magically make the numbers work on deadline day. The fact he is versatile hopefully helps.

No need for the bed wetting. It's like we forget that Romero is a huge addition, we bought a quality keeper (succession plan) and have skip, and Gil who is an extreme talent. That's three or four players who could start in our 11 and are part of the 1st team squad. Most teams dont do that much change to their team in one hit. So overall that's a great window.

But our patience, or lack of, reflects the larger surgery required about out goings and replacements.

It's been a good window

We fell for it again, it’s the hope that gets you.

Our business is clearly done and has been for a while. I just don’t know why we keep getting all this positive ITK every year and slowly but surely the closer the end of the window comes the less positive it gets.

Very frustrating and disheartening. No doubt the ITK’s have great sources but surely they must see through this charade now? So similar each time.

There isn’t even a mention of a striker lately, which seemed a priority all the way through until it just stopped being mentioned.

We’ve lost Bale/Vinicius with no replacements. Quite worrying how the squad has ended up!

Neg rep all you like, ‘wait until the window shuts’ all you like, but it’s clear as day no big players are coming in. Like we can’t even get Tomiyasu now is the latest. Like come on

Surely this isn’t it as for incomings?
It’s worryingly quiet, our squad is nowhere near competitive enough for the season ahead.

We always fall for the positive vibes earlier in the window, but ultimately we’re always left short.

Very very concerning.

I’m usually pretty positive about things, but I just can’t see us filling all those key positions in the next 36 hours. In fact, I will bet you £20 into the SC coffers that we don’t sign a striker, a creative midfielder and a defender before the deadline.

especially if Nuno can get working to improve Serge and Ndombele like he's done with Sanchez, Dier and Dele
