Fuck Levy. To think there were people who actually didnt want Potter. We now have Mourinho mk2
This early the football would be little or no different under Potter or anyone else.

The issue runs deeper, and it has done since before the CL final in 2019, than just the manager.

Not really fussed that he's a nice guy. He's not up to the job and should never have been hired.
And yet we had people saying the opposite about Jose. They disliked him because he wasn't, on appearance/in their opinion, a nice guy.

We're going to end up going round in circles with this cycle.

I don't entirely disagree but I am very happy to give him the chnce to show that he and the team can improve.

I with you there, however the signs aren't looking great, im tired of changing managers and going through that circus, i genuinely hope he does well and turns it round, just im not sure he has it in him early signs are not positive.

But he plays a big part. Look at how quick wolves and even palace have changed the way they play. Ok their results havent been good but that comes from trying to play a new style. Wolves will do well and you can see the attacking football they are trying. You cant say the same for us and nuno.

Will he last the season ? Honestly wonder what it will take for him to be sacked ?

Fear we’ll just keep tickling along whilst watching awful football ?

We've lost one game, and drawn away against a decent side with a crocked squad. Yes we need to see more up front, and it's certainly concerning, but the number of posters talking about him getting the sack is ridiculous.

What's the point of hiring anyone. One loss and the fanbase will be scrambling to decipher the next appointment.

First off I think the reaction in here is way OTT. That Rennes team are no mugs, roared on by a rampant crowd and the biggest homer of a ref that you’re ever likely to see so on the face of it a draw isn’t the worst result. I actually lost a tenner as I bet that we’d lose when it was 1-1.

However those wanting, demanding or expecting us to play free flowing attacking football need to realise that this is never going to happen. Nuno doesn’t play that way, never has and likely never will. You’d also question the wisdom of hiring a manager and then getting him to change his whole philosophy (god I hate that phrase).

Let’s face it, he and we have been done up like a kipper, like one of those couples thrown together on Married at First Sight who all the viewers can see aren’t in any way a match for one and other yet the so called “experts” insist on marrying off the poor sods.

To think that Ten Haag wanted to come here and despite as supposedly messing him around three times was still willing to make the move leaves a really bitter taste in my mouth.

I’m fed up of making every team we play against look like world beaters.
Yep and the fact that we apparently turned down Ten Hag because he was happy to work with our current staff rather than bring his own team (which is the norm in Holland) is ridiculous.

If you were told a team would reach the CL final, having previously been fighting for titles with some of Europe's best performers, open a multi-million making stadium, as well as other business ventures, to then end up with the squad we have now and be unable to have attracted/not been prepared to get a top coach to match then you would have been in disbelief.

It's absurd and negligence of the highest order. I can't understand how anyone can defend what has happened to this club.
It's almost like some act of god happened, some wild circumstance outside of our control that damaged our revenues and delayed our ability to act on that success... :cautious:

"Turn it around"

What is he meant to be turning around? Did you expect more than nine points from 12 and a 67% win rate despite missing at least five starters in every single game?

I want Nuno to be given time and he definitely should be given time and we can't use a handful of games as proof. But if we aren't seeing any positive aspects of play by 5 months, let alone 6 then he won't make it.

I have noted previously that Poch's football was very dull for his opening months but he gave us a handful of games that could at least be used as a benchmark. Off the top of my head the draw versus Arsenal was energetic if not free-flowing, the last minute wins Villa and Hull showed spirit and the Chelsea win showed what Poch can really achieve. It certainly wasn't perfect after those games either but each one bought him more time.

If Nuno doesn't give us some solid energetic performances amongst the dour ones then he will be out the door.

Agree with this; the 5-3 against Chelsea was the first time I can really remember that Spurs team starting to show something. There were still questions around Pochettino until his second season, when we trounced City 4-1(?).

Whether Nuno is the right man or not, it's going to take a while to see that out. But I don't think the squad is balanced enough or has the right quality to be top four, and will struggle for top six without some seriously consistent performances. He'll probably end up the fall guy, be dropped some point next season, and we'll be back to that managerial search by the end of next year.

I agree, as much as I didn't want to bring him in the first place, it can often take 6 months to get a team playing the way a manager wants.

Unfortunately, based on his previous teams, it looks unlikely that we will ever play free flowing attacking football under him though.

Personally, I think our new DOF has been piss poor so far, despite so many calling him a Don earlier in the window. He chose Nuno after Levy said he wanted to get back to our DNA (I assume he wasn't meaning mediocrity) and failed to sign a back up striker.

Some proper overreactions going on in here, the guys been here a couple of months and managed less than ten games for us. It’s going to be a tough watch until things settle down and click.

Okay, this isn't really just directed at you because I'm seeing lots of this. But what on earth made anybody think a new manager would fix Mourinho's team in seven games? This isn't Football Manager, you don't just change mentality to Very Attacking, select Press Much Higher, and watch us go back to being a Pochettino side. It's going to take 6 to 18 months to reverse that spell of little training, relentless negativity and virtually no attacking coaching, even if we're getting things right in terms of the squad and manager. It's going to be a fairly long road, so we may as well enjoy the good bits (9 points so far, Ndombele looking great today, beating City, a couple of big games to look forward to) rather than just bemoan the fact that we're not back to our best yet.

Tuchel fixed Chelsea pretty much straight away?

Elite managers are able to make an instant impact.

I, like most of us I'd guess, was pretty disappointed that Nuno was appointed.
I think our points return in the league is pretty much as good as we could have expected.
The football has been horrible, but I don't really see that Nuno has had any time to work with his team at all with the international fixtures.
He could still be a success, but I'm not sure that he will be afforded the time.
The match day crowd will let their feelings known loudly, and we are lead to believe that Levy wasn't a fan to begin with.
I could easily see him being sacked before the season is out, especially if someone tempting becomes available.
