I will return to my comment from yesterday, when will the ECB resign from international test cricket?
Good question, but who's going to make them?

Just seen that Jack Leach was even incapable of doing his duty as night watchman.
There are a lot of people who have done nothing to deserve a call up to the England team but he just about tops the lot.
You’ve not misunderstood squire, my timings are slightly different though, I’m 37, I don’t remember Emburey as captain, and Gooch although I remember him as a player it would have been early 90s so you’d have to forgive me, the only thing I was doing then was trying to learn to square cut like my hero, Robin Smith. I did caveat my previous point by saying “that I remember”. I looked up the Gooch one, seems a bit blurry lines, most places report that he retired the captaincy to Atherton, although he was probably asked to relinquish and given the respect of not being sacked?I must be massively misunderstanding you when you say 'stripped' of the captaincy here but there's been heaps of England captains who've been sacked because of results. John Emburey was given the job, lost his first two test matches and was removed, Graham Gooch went a year without winning a test match and was sacked. Alec Stewart was sacked after a loss in Australia and then a dismal ODI World Cup and you can almost certainly add more to that list. Apologies if I misunderstand though.
Whilst I agree there's an issue as to who would do it and that there's a lack of options, you can't run the team like that and they probably won't. If they sack him, they'll have to find someone, if he quits, they'll have to find someone, either way, at some point, they'll have to find someone. You can't keep a man in a job because 'who else is there'. He's a poor captain and he needs to go it's as simple as that. Worry about who's next when that happens. I also agree he's very unlikely to actually be sacked but a year or more ago I did suggest it's possible he sees this Ashes series as the end of a cycle and might step down of his own accord once it's over and for me, that's where the main hope lies, that he's simply had enough now. And I wouldn't blame him.
Anyway, them's my onions, Root out, Giles out, Silverwood out and TBH the gin swiggers at the ECB can do one too. Bring back Keith Fletcher! At least there's coach who understands test cricket and how to improve a player. But I say that tongue in cheek, he's probably retired now anyway.
Now Buttler is in, just repeat the above nonsense.....England are like Spurs during a bad patch, even though I know they are shit and have no chance, I still remain delusionally optimistic in the face of irrefutable evidence.
'If we can just get a 150 run lead, batting last will be tricky, Jimmy's nagging length, bit of movement, Mark Wood cranking upto 94mph. Just need Root and Stok..... and Stokes is out'.
Now Bairstow is in, just repeat the above nonsense....
