Dont think Southampton will have the energy to press like this for 90 minutes.
Yeah the 2nd half will be a completely different game. Conte will change the tactics, make some changes and Saints will get tired.

We're incredibly lucky not to be a goal or two (or three!) down, though.

Shocking half. Consolation is we are all square still. Couldn’t actually believe what I was watching. Winks and Hojbjerg are chasing shadows and Sanchez Emerson and Lucas together on the right are a shambles. Thank god for Romero!

We never "look good" playing 3-4-2-1. So technically we are playing as expected.
I think the problem revolves around the lack of quality in the two CM’s, if your going to play with just two they need to be much better then the two currently on the pitch. We had the same issues since Poch and his 4231. Not really surprising it’s still causing us issues

Exactly. Every spurs fan wants what is best for the club and, like those booing, I won’t sit idly and allow disgraceful performances like that anymore. The players need to hear that they won’t be allowed to under perform anymore.

Anyway, what’s the alternative, clap the boys off for embarrassing themselves? Bullshit.
Are you expecting them to respond positively? Do you think they’re suddenly going to think ‘hang on a minute here, I better start trying’!?

Let’s not sugar coat this. That was city level domination. Like they should have about 6 goals. So far, the way we’ve beat the press under Conte has been the runs from the outside CBs and working in tandem with the WBs. Not this game in particular, but in general that’s been the main mechanism. Need more of that after the break. I can only applaud Southampton though. Basically the entire half and basically the whole 30 odd minutes when they had 11 men at St Mary’s, they’ve been by far the better side.

Conte has got this so wrong though.

He needs to wise up that Winks is awful. Winks must be one of the worst CMs in the league when he’s pressed. Utterly clueless. He’s only any use when teams sit off and give him space and even then he’s still poor. Just a bit less useless.

Him and PEH don’t work. We need more bodies in CM.

We’ve been schooled!

The recent love is fine and justified. But what I hate is he doesn't perform consistently. Today shows he's still complacent that his position is safe and I hated that because it shows he's so wrong.

Perfect example of that entitlement was him yelling at Sanchez for not closing down space around the box when he was the one who left it wide open. I find him infuriating.

What’s the booing supposed to achieve? It won’t suddenly give players confidence, infact it’s likely to do the opposite and make them more nervous.

So utterly stupid and short sighted.
it achieves exactly the same as whining on this forum like we all do, it is pure frustration and sometime people can't control it. It is just a bit worse on at the stadium as it ofc does not give them more confidence,

We really weren't. Lucky Saints didn't score after two minutes and we had absolutely no control of the game at any point.

Sure Reguilon missed a sitter and we got the OG but we were never smashing it.
We struggled first 10 minutes and then we were opening them up quite consistently and pressing well from 10-the goal. We were on top for that 15 minute period. They had 1 chance prior to their goal but we seemed confident on the ball and ready to break them.

Still don’t know what Royal was thinking for their goal, just clear the ball bozo!!

His error was worse than Davies. Davies did dither but it was a slip, Emerson made the horrendous decision to let the ball run across his body without knowing what was behind him. Taught as a child not to do that in your own box. Just clear it at the first opportunity.

Conte did say that it’s good to see this team suffer

I wonder if he changes it at HT or makes them suffer a bit longer

Either way we need some Conte magic now…
