Today highlights the importance of Skipp.
And Dier. These 2 would gladly replace Sanchez and Winks/Hojbjerg.

Emerson is "irreplaceable" unfortunately. Doherty can be just as bad. Very sad situation at RWB..

I really hope Lucas can play there instead. That frees up a slot for Bergwijn or Kulu too.

Beating Man City is the only way to eradicate this result. I expected to win this and lose to city, so if we don’t do that to restore the balance then top 4 is in serious doubt.

Oh no I didn't realize we're playing them so soon but yeah city was a free hit if we'd had won tonight.

That's gonna be ugly though, they'll toy with us.

Surrendering possession, space and control of the game to try and hit a team like Southampton on the counter attack is fucking disgraceful.

I called it out against Mourinho so, while he has a lot of credit in the bank, I think Conte got it horribly wrong tonight.

This was obviously compounded by some inept displays on the pitch.
THIS. ALL DAY LONG. 3 - 4 - 3 is not our friend

I’ve used an entire years worth of swear words tonight (& it’s only February)!

If there was a swear box I’d be posting for bankruptcy!

He has brought in Romero and Bentancur so calm down with the 'clown' comment.

Look. We needed a RWB, sure. But it looks like the club were trying to address it by getting Traore. There is noises that the RWB has been targetted, which tells us that we couldn't get them now.

It's better to wait for your priority then just bring in any old RWB.

The mistake was made whem we brought in a RB not suited to the role.

Romero and Bentancur have proved done nothing. Bentancur has looked good in a very small sample and I’m not convinced by Romero, he has had 2 good games in about 10 and can be rash and error prone mixed in with moments of class.
Gill looks weak and unsuited to English football and Emerson the less said the better tbh. Klucleski I can’t comment on because I not seen enough of him to judge. The early signs of paratici are very worrying imo

What on earth has happened to Hojbjerg? I loved his all action style when he first came in but it masked his huge limitations as a footballer. The only pass he seems to be able to play is the 5 yard one back to the person who passed it to him. He might be ok in a 3 (which I think we should be playing, personally) but he gives nothing in a 2. Skipp can already do what he does, and more, in my opinion. We’ve missed Skipp and we desperately need at least one more CM

It is so depressing that we bought Emerson only a few months ago. It’s like we scouted Europe to find someone worse than Doherty. This position has been a problem for years and we constantly fail to address it. Instead we just gather more dead meat.

whilst also paying Serge to bugger off!

Get ready for it not to get eradicated.

Hojberg and winks are patheti
Cry me a river again and again and again and then rinse and repeat again and again and again.
You’re just extolling a loser mentally that we’ve had for decades imo but you’re obviously entitled to yours.
Which ever way we look at it we’re years away from winning much and even at 56 I now never believe I’ll see us win the league in my lifetime and to be really honest I doubt I’ll see us anything worthwhile either.
I so, so, so want to be wrong. ??
And younger.

We have too many squad player types making the first team. Sanchez, Davies, Royal, Winks, Hojbjerg......none of that lot can be relied upon to perform week in and week out. You'll get games during the season where they'll play well but no one can convince we can build a successful/competitive side with them in the team on a regular basis. Mistakes and a general lack of quality is the undertone with that group.

On the whole 90 mins we deserved to get a bloody nose. Terrible performance and in the end a terrible result. Hopefully tempers expectations about what we can do this season as well, some fans were getting way ahead of themselves given the players we have, performances so far, plus the fixture list left, and will bring some back down to earth a bit.

Tactically we were a shambles. Southampton did absolutely nothing that you wouldn't expect from them - high tempo, hard press, all out, 4-2-2-2 as standard. What they do as standard most weeks. We somehow looked ill-prepared for this and had no answer, they worked overloads and chances at will, and we were run ragged struggling to pick their men up. Not good enough at all, we had to know what was coming.

Individually it was as bad as it was collectively though. Several moments of chaos and many spectacular errors. Not just from one or two of them, every single one of them had (at least) one proper brainfart that put us in difficulty/made the task much harder.

Got to say having just gone 2-1 ahead I thought the sub was bananas. Fair enough if you're taking off an attacker to solidify things, but not the like for like change we got. If that was the option then I'd keep Moura on every single time, to exploit the space Southampton leave, they are so vulnerable to pace, instead of the less mobile Kulusevski who is nowhere near up to speed yet with the game over here (and looking where the man ran from, pretty culpable for the second goal). We just cut out one of our counter options needlessly for me.

I'm going to finish with Emerson though.... This guy is just turd. He had parts to play for every goal conceded either through poor decision making or switching off, and he doesn't have the speed, stamina, or legs to play the role of wingback. He offers little in attack. I don't see this claimed defensive expertise. Woeful game.

Oh dear.

agree, that sub was madness on the balance of the game. Doc should have probably come on, or even stevie for son

The sooner we get Bentancir up to date the fucking better.
I would have thought Conte would wish to respect and not demoralise Winks/Hojbjerg by starting the new players so soon.

But they have brought it to themselves I guess for being so fucking poor. They don't deserve to start next game at all.
