All don't make sense. They are damn lucky to be even able to carry on their match days and to end the season. The 30 million operational cost shouldn't even be granted. How are they given so much time to sort out their finances for more loop holes to exploit is beyond my comprehension. Going into administration, points deduction and expelling from European competitions should really be the only consequences. Everyone is just finding excuses to allow this vile club to continue existing in the highest level.

While I would love for that to happen, I still wonder why that really should be the only consequences for the football club?

Because their owner's home country is at war?

Have Chelsea plummeted down the table and on the verge of going out of business yet? No? Shock.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has made a late, sensational bid of more than £4 billion to buy Chelsea. The British billionaire sent the bid to the merchant bank which is conducting the process this morning.

The owner of Ineos, the petrochemicals giant, held discussions with Bruce Buck, the Chelsea chairman only yesterday and has launched a late attempt to beat off three American consortium.

“We put an offer in this morning,” Ratcliffe told The Times. “We are the only British bid. Our motives are simply to try and create a very fine club in London. We have no profit motive because we make our money in other ways.”

Ratcliffe, who was criticised for moving to Monaco in 2018, said that the offer would include a pledge of investing £1.75 billion over ten years in the club in terms of developing the stadium, team and infrastructure — on top of meeting the valuation of about £2.5 billion for the purchase.

Given the size of Ineos and the resources of a vast privately-owned company, Ratcliffe said that Ineos was in a position to send the money and close the deal this weekend if required. He said that he had also discussed the deal with government.

Slightly misleading headline though. Says he’ll meet the 2.5 asking price, and promise to invest another 1.75.

I wonder how this fits in with Abramovich’s demands of an extra 500 million on top of the 2.5.

He'll suit them though, won't he? A brexiteer and a tax dodger. There were links with him at the start of this process and they faded away. Maybe he's always been in the background?

This is like a sniper bidder on eBay. I hate those people.

Is he any different from Joe Lewis in that regard?

He will, can see the government fast tracking it if the bid is accepted.

You just knew Chelsea would end up landing on their feet.

Would be annoying if Ratcliffe buys them because he’s the richest bidder so more chance of them continuing to buy the best players etc

also he’s the ones the Chelsea fans want, so I hope it didn’t happen.

no guarantee he is anything like Roman though. Roman was unique in the sense he was basically given his fortune by Putin and the Russian kleptocracy, easy come easy go.

Would Ratcliffe really self fund Chelsea to that degree? Seems doubtful to me but it is a bit worrying.

£1.75B investment over ten years - that's not really that much when you consider it includes the stadium too.

anyhow, football is fucked if he's allowed to come in and literally pledge to continue a loss making business model.

you just know these lot are gonna get taken over by someone even richer

said this when it first kicked off, terribly predictable they'd end up with another sugar daddy.

How'd we get stuck with a super rich stingy ancient goblin of a man

I am more shocked than you

If this happens what is the point of any club not owned by a country or a mad billionaire trying to compete ?
