Wasn‘t Matthew Syed was it? He’s very clued up on Abramovich and how dodgy he is.

not sure, I’m sure that he was from the Times and is the guy who does all the financial breakdowns of the clubs. He was basically saying that Chelsea have been cheating the system for years and it was only RA that was keeping them afloat. He also says that if the sale doesn’t go through (as he suspects it won’t) then Chelsea are going to be in real trouble as it was only RA’s Ill gotten gains that was seeing them through.

Yeah, I'm not buying that either. Even though the reporter says the bidder could be announced tomorrow, it doesn't sound very likely. He's just playing games. Are him and Putin doing it to make the government look bad and have no control over the situation. Wouldn't surprise me.

Would be kind of great to see Chelsea stuck in limbo. Don’t think we will get that lucky though, they always come up smelling of roses.

There was a reporter called Matt something on talkSPORT a few weeks back who reckoned that Abramovhic will drag this out until Putin tells him too which will probably be never. Andy Jacobs scoffed at him and told him he was talking nonsense but everything we’ve seen so far seems to suggest that’s exactly what is happening.
And when 6 oligarchs have “committed suicide” already in 2022 so far, my guess is he’ll do exactly what Putin tells him to.

Apparently the license is up at the end of May. If he doesn’t have it sorted by then worst case their summer is fcked, best cause they go under. This has unexpectedly all been shady from the start. Remember he tried putting the trust in control. All starting to look very murky.

Stick in another 500m ontop of the billion quid over the top you’re already stumping up - there’s a good chap!!!

lol this isn’t looking too clever atm. We can only dream they’ll be called FC Chelsea playing in the conference next season

If the loan is repayable, isn’t that when they get into ffp difficulties or when tax on it is then due?

The government's sanctioning of Mr Abramovich meant it was now not legally possible to repay a £1.54bn loan owed by the club's parent company, Fordstam, to Camberley International Investments - a vehicle also associated with the oligarch - and that an inadvertent effect of Mr Abramovich's sanctioning meant he would not have access to the funding required to repay the loan, the person said.

The loan is thought to be repayable on Chelsea's sale.

None of this makes sense to me. They're talking £4bn to buy Chelsea who are effectively either insolvent or uncompetitive without constant financial doping. They don't have a big fan base and as soon as they stop winning all the time many of the 'global' fans they apparently have will evaporate. Redeveloping their stadium is a logistical nightmare that will at best take most of the next decade and cost further billions. What's the attraction?

All don't make sense. They are damn lucky to be even able to carry on their match days and to end the season. The 30 million operational cost shouldn't even be granted. How are they given so much time to sort out their finances for more loop holes to exploit is beyond my comprehension. Going into administration, points deduction and expelling from European competitions should really be the only consequences. Everyone is just finding excuses to allow this vile club to continue existing in the highest level.

Yeah for Chelsea success over a 20 year period they aren’t a Liverpool or United. Without the right funding they could easily “ do a Leeds “. That’s something you can’t ever imagine happening to Liverpool or United however bad it gets. I really don’t see the attraction and wouldn’t be surprised if this all goes tits up. Maybe they think there’s a way round the pitch situation and they could actually knock the place down and make billions from the land and move Chelsea to Ealing ?

Seems like the PL have already started the checking process according to Matt Law. This will have to be pretty advanced if they dont want it to take an extra month.

I’m intrigued to see what happens at payday. This time last month they had to take that £30m from Abramovich to keep running. Surely that won’t be allowed again and staff will go without being paid. That will open them up to all sorts from the players union.

As reported by Telegraph Sport, the Premier League have started making unofficial background checks on all three groups to try to prevent delays further down the line but the winning bidder will still need to go through a full owners’ and directors’ test.
Ahead of the Premier League test, the preferred buyer will be advanced for Government approval ahead of the issuing of a licence for the sale of Chelsea to go through

My son went to see Man Utd v Chelsea last night with his united supporting mate. Missed his train home last night because Chelsea supporters were being dicks on the trams and stopping the doors from being closed.

That’s all well and good but poor old Roman still owns the club and has to agree to the sale…
