Getting a two footed WB would improve our build up play next season especially if we don’t get 1-2 midfielders who can break through pressure and take players out of the game themselves. It feels like our full backs get easily boxed in down the line when we’re trying to get out as our midfield regularly give them square or backwards hospital balls. Just someone who's happy to come inside and work better angles with the midfield and Kane. Think that’s why Conte started to play Doherty on the opposite side on occasion

I do wonder if we’d be tempted to get Belotti or if he is even an option.
We have been linked with him a fair bit the last 2 summers, would be a decent option and would come in as a free

Just thinking why they would be in for maehle. Fairly two footed and good balance to come inside. Not sure on others top of my head. Maybe we’ll be looking for a playmaking type full back and an explosive type who can beat players on the outside consistently. Would be quite a nice mix

Would certainly be worth entertaining. Did Conte give him his first cap for Italy? 2016 it says, maybe so. They'd perhaps have a relationship. Either way, you'd assume Conte would know the type of player he is and his qualities.

What type is he? Bonus no World Cup got Italy so would be fresh when Kane’s knackered in jan

I quite like the sound of Palhinha and the qualities he brings.

Conte’s system demands we have a couple of enforcer type midfielders in the middle and he sounds like would be a good option along with Skipp, Bentancur and PEH.

So hopefully we will actually pinpoint all the areas that are not only weak, but perhaps need a little more depth.

He'd also be very good dropping into the back 3 if/when Romero or Davies go on an attacking jaunt. Also, he'd add plenty of height to out set piece options at 6'3".

I think we need to recruit with the thought of the World Cup in the back of our minds. More players in the squad not going away for it will be huge.

Daily Mail saying we’re interest in Joakim Maehle
He’s proven he’s a good player with Genk, his first 1.5 seasons at Atalanta, and with Denmark especially. If this was a link last summer, then it would’ve been very exciting. Two-footed, very fast, his final third actions are generally very good, and great attacking instincts and ball striking. For whatever reason though, he’s been bad this season. Like really bad. I don’t know what’s happened, but he’s played much less than last season, and when he has, he’s been poor mostly. A lot more technical/concentration errors. Lost some intensity. If we get the best version of the player, he’s more than good enough, a fantastic player. Equally good at right and left wingback. But would be against signing the player if he plays like this season. I trust Paratici and Conte if they sign a Serie A player, and if his finds form again, he’s an elite wingback. This season has been worse than just a blip or a slight dip, however.

World Cup is a great point. Singo is Ivorian and they didn't qualify, likewise Italy and we've been linked with plenty of them. Laimer/Bissouma's nations didn't qualify either so it's not like we'd compromise quality to pursue some of these targets

Not saying that the club must go in for maehle, though historically I do quite like him. But I like for us to continue the trend of buying players that aren't coming off a peak season. We've seen how successful kulusevski and bentaceur have been.

Of course it has to be the right player that fits our system and we've been tracking for a long time.

But it leads to better business, with less competition to sign the player. Sometimes a player just needs a change of scenery.

What are people's view on replacing both Stevie and Lucas with Raphinha? Looking very likely that Leed will be relegated and we could do with a tricky and effective winger. Looking at the numbers, he's way more effective than both Lucas and Stevie.

Raphinha - 62 PL appearances/ 16 goals/ 12 assists/ 5.027' minutes
Lucas - 134 pl appearances/ 19 goals/ 15 assists / 7.636' minutes
Stevie - 58 PL appearances/ 7 goals/ 6 assists/ 2.425' minutes

He is an Elite wingback if he find his form again. People saying he won’t start here or only want him as backup are mad. He has all the tool. Lightning quick, can play both positions, can beat a man, dribbling plus shooting is very good for a WB and his mentality is elite - only 24 too. Conte and Paratici will love him. So will Spurs fans when he plays a couple of games(if). Don’t let if fool you that he can’t play for Atalanta, even our national coach hasn’t got a clue why. He needs a move.
