Like the Porro links but don't really see how can we sign another RWB without getting rid of 2 out of our current 3. When we have a fully fit squad Spence is left out the 18 so the same would happen to Doc/Emerson if Spence say went out on loan and Porro came in. Shifting Doherty will probably be a difficult task in January and the noise is that Emerson is happy in London and with us. The signing also makes me further question the arrival of Spence but I'd like Porro so whatever.

I don’t think it’ll be a problem - Emerson will be loaned out in Jan. Or possibly Spence will. Doherty can cover left and right as a fifth choice? If we get Porro that’s all that matters. The others will start to assess their options I would’ve thought.

Emerson will probably be the one that stays. I just can't see Conte moving on the RWB that he is playing first.

Spence out on loan, and try and move Doherty on would be my guess

I’d expect both Doherty and Royal to be gone by next season. Spence Will probably def get a loan now.

Well, I think it makes perfect sense that we will be moving Doherty on in January.
there was talk of us making him available in the summer so I’m sure the writing is on the wall for him- it’s not like he’s had any indication that he’s first choice here any more.
and that could also lead to spence going on a PL loan for 6 months to someone like Brighton which is also not too hard to imagine either

With credible links that he’s Inter’s top choice to replace Dumfries, I think there’s a reasonable chance it will be Emerson who makes way.

We’ve struggled to shift our deadwood since the pandemic hit. Reguilon, Lo Celso, Ndombele, and Rodon are all players who would have buyers under normal economic conditions, but with clubs all over Europe being skint we’ve had to loan them.

If Inter comes in with a good offer we’d be foolish to turn it down. Everyone knows Emerson doesn’t have a future at the club, we need to sell him if we can because the chance may have gone come the summer.

That wouldn’t be the end of the world if it happened- especially if it was “just a loan”
Reason being, I think we all agree that as a right back Emerson is actually very good, and with the uncertainty over conte it wouldn’t hurt us to have a ready made solution if we went back to a back 4

Don’t know anything about the credibility of the links but would be surprised personally if he gets bought by a team that mainly play with wingbacks.

Guess we will write off the reported sell-on clause from Edwards to bring this fee down

Maybe. But I think City get 30% of the deal, so Sporting will want as high a fee as they can get. Unless they plan to move Edwards, I don't think our reducing the sell-on clause will have much impact.

Well if they reduce the Porro fee if we decide to ignore the Edwards sell on fee then City won't get as much, instead the value going to selling Edwards instead.

If someone in Europe is mad enough to buy Dumfries after the WC, and Inter want Royal as his replacement, and we then get to buy Porro - that could be one of the best bits of business ever!

Not sure if it's been mentioned (or is even correct), but apparently City have a buy back clause that is much lower than the release amount. Hopefully they don't trigger it just to piss us off.

Really what would be excellent is we use Edwards sell on fee to bring Porror’s price down then use Royal in a swap for Bastoni. Assuming someone buy’s Dumfries. Considering Bastoni hasn’t signed a new contract and he’s only got a year and a half left now would be the time to move him on. We’d probably have to pay something on top but in theory that would be a great move.

could do a lo celso style deal, 30 mil loan fee and like 15 mil purchase at end of season

Little bit concerned this is too out in the open, considering this is the type of transfer we'd want to keep quiet until it's long down the line.

Porro in and Royal out would be a huge positive. I just hope we have an eye on a back up for Deki as when he is out our creativity nose dives
