I don't really know enough about how transfers work, but are we only allowed to negotiate during the window or is it actually sign in that period?
You can agree fees and terms out of the window, but they can only sign for the club during the window.

But if he doesn’t secure Conte’s number 1 target he’s not backing the manager.
Correct.

Because ultimately the club he is in charge of has failed to bring in the clubs no 1 target that's been required over the last 3 windows.

The fact he has to pull out of the deal late is irrelevant.

The buck stops with Levy no?

You get the deal done before it becomes a last minute scramble. This seemed on the surface a simple release clause on January 1st. We should have been prepared fully and struck then. It's what big clubs do.
Do you think Porro is worth 68m then?

I'm consoling myself in case it doesn't happen by recalling the defensive stats I read which suggests he isn't an especially good defender in the Portuguese league. If the deal is back on I will immediately forget them again. You need these cognitive strategies as a Spurs fan. :)

Are you on the pay roll or what ... what is your problem.

It was a clear/ simple deal. Levy as usual wants to negotiate and be clever.
So sick of this pathetic kind of accusation being levelled at anyone who doesn’t join the ENIC out/fuck Levy pile on.

It’s not just you either. I’ve seen this kind of post numerous times over the last few weeks.

“Are you Levy?”
“Are you Levy’s son?”
“Are you on the payroll?”

Fucking grow up.

Whatever the reason for this on this occasion, EVERYONE knows what dealing with Spurs is like. Involved or not on this occasion, it is the very thumbprint of the nature of our transfer dealing. The very ether of the air surrounding Levy. The failure of enough investment in the very root of the business of this commercial trader.

Unpopular opinion but I think (with very limited insight) Sporting might have played a blinder.
Kept us on the hook thinking we could get him below the release clause long enough for it to expire and for them to say x is the amount we want now.
Once that was agreed they then say actually we want x more on top knowing full well so close to the deadline they have every chance of getting it.
(of course my take on it could be wildly incorrect)

Honestly the state of this thread is really putting me off this site at the moment.
This is the great shame of it all. Everyone is entitled to an opinion of course, but the behaviour of some posters goes beyond madness. We all know that lots of people are fed up with Levy... there isn't any need to post a load of toxic garbage 50 times repeating that view.

Maybe these people don't understand the grating effect they have? Maybe they don't care? Maybe it's all Levy's fault that they post crap? But hopefully the people like yourself (Rob, A&C, ITKs and others) who put so much effort into the running of the site know that there are a crowd of us who really appreciate you. ?

If Levy is stepping in then this should be done very quickly now. This is the first part of his rehabilitation as a deal guru.

Daniel Levy, getting deals done quicker than Rambo sorting out a cotchel of thugs :D

Joking aside, let's wait until the deadline has passed**

**The trouble is, we're conditioned to this. We expect to be disappointed. It's nothing new so people are naturally going to be pessimistic, the rot has set in and it causes a malaise that's hard to shake. But what choice do we have. So once more let's hope that we can get this over the line. If not, then that's the time to play the blame game.
