Good cameo today. His cross led to Bentancur 1st goal and he generally understands the RWB role in terms of his positioning and off the ball runs. Good break for him to work on his fitness and hopefully have a great 2nd half of the season.

3 goals so far in the friendlies. Glad to see him getting minutes and looking sharper. Especially with Sessegnon & Davies being injured, I think we'll see Matt featuring at LWB as well.

Happy for #2. Watching players getting back to their best after injury is one of my favorite parts of being a fan. Hope he has his confidence back.

Considering that quite a few think Royal a better defender than Doherty, Zaha looked far less of a threat against him than he did against Royal 2night & he always looks more of a threat going forward & scored as well!!!!

I had a laugh to myself, he can’t defend but Zaha didn’t have a kick then……Emerson comes on and Zaha looks like a world beater that’s told me enough already

I really like Doherty nowadays and I hope he stays over Emerson and fights for the spot against whoever we buy. Definitely happy to have him in the squad.

I still think he needs to be more positive - he barely got forward in the first half and his first instinct seemed to be to turn back towards his own goal. He improved second half once the pressure was off, but I feel he needs to do more when games are tight to get on the front foot.

Molina is better than him so I doubt he plays a whole lot there. Still better to be 2nd choice than 3rd.

Shame. I'd much prefer to have him over Emerson as back up, he's linked up well with Kulu when they've played and he's better on the ball.

I think he blew his chance to be honest. He had a great performance and then got a little run ahead of Emerson. He's gone back to being poor again. I'm just a bit surprised we leave ourselves with 2 wing backs each side now and 1 isn't really a natural wing back.

Doherty would always be the one out as in honesty he’s a poorer slower version of Porro. Having a more defensive option was gonna be the one kept. I think we should’ve kept him for the left mind you.
