Are we allowed to criticise Levy in here without a load of gimps giving negative ratings and saying it’s boring and nothing to do with Levy?
Absolutely. In exactly the same way as people are allowed to give negative ratings without being called gimps ;)

Although it would be better received in the ENIC out thread, where such opinions can give erections coupled with bouts of dizziness which I believe is called a 'rush', usually associated with extreme sports

I completely agree with you. Was always a big draw for me re Gallardo. A major concern for him is the mental condition of his players to the point that he has members of staff specifically employed to deal just with that. I think it’s a massive issue for us and has been for years.

A change of tactics to something more aggressive is essential and will in itself no doubt lighten the mood somewhat but I can’t help but feel it would only be a matter of time before they slip back. Whoever we go for I think the personality, especially from a leadership point of view as you say, is just as important as the tactics.
Just to reiterate what I mentioned here about Gallardo. This is the kind of thinking we need here imo, i really feel it goes beyond just tactics. having a manager who has won numerous things playing excellent football whilst also understanding the importance of the players mentality would revolutionise us I feel.

And she speaks English fluently.

Also in that second season they ended up winning Copa Argentina and the Recopa Sudamericana.

Getting the right managerial fit will solve a lot of problems, but levy and the board need to stop interfering. Give a dof a budget and let him work with the manager. No bargain opportunistic buys that the manager doesn't want. Let the football people solve the problem on the pitch.

In which case, step 1 is to get rid of our DoF who's not allowed to do his job and bring one in who wants different football to what we've had for the past 4 years. The awful alternative is Levy looking in the mirror, adjusting his cuffs and whispering 'Back in the game' to himself, as he prepares for the summer window and manager search.

Poch’s best success came with:

-A young, willing, and physically imposing side with fresh legs and intrepid minds
-Two powerhouse fullbacks with incredible pace and stamina, capable of covering an entire flank (Walker is one of the most underrated players of the modern era)
-Ludicrously versatile and technically gifted CBs with 6th sense chemistry and FB ability
-a literally press-immune, all-time great in duels physical powerhouse in Dembele
-a do-everything creative dynamo in Eriksen capable of pressing like a madman and delivering inch perfect passes of every variety, along with excellent free kicks
-a pressing genius and off-ball savant in Dele who ran all day and finished everything
- the most complete forward world football has seen since the 90s In Kane, with an ability to do 5-6 things at an elite level
- a smart, quick, confident goalkeeper
- Heung Min Son who could actually hit the back of the net from time to time

Do we have… any of that?

We have the workings of it in some players but we actually need to commit to that painful rebuild Pochettino spoke of years ago. We're years behind where we should be IMO.

At the end of the AVB days, Verts looked like a total liability. He gave up - then look what happened under a decent manager. That's what still gives me a tiny smidgen of hope, we really need to appoint a positive, can do, aggressive manager.

The squad is horribly unbalanced and too many just aren’t good enough for a team challenging for the top four.

We severely lack technicians and creative footballers and we also lack energy, pace and legs.

Agree, we’ve not been a well coached team from an attacking / possession based perspective, but the squad still needs major surgery in my opinion.

We need a new first choice keeper, at least two new CB’s, another LWB on top of Udogie, a back up for Bentancur (someone who can create from deep and progress the ball through the thirds), a CAM (Maddison would be ideal), a LWF and cover at RWF and a Kane replacement.

From the current squad

Regular starters

Porro
Royal
Romero
Udogie
Bissouma
Bentancur
Kulusevski
Kane (he’ll leave if he has any sense)
Richarlison

Squad Rotation

Davies
Sarr
Gil
Reguillon
Forster

Sell / Release

Lloris
Dier
Perisic
Sessegnon
Sanchez
Tanganga
Lenglet
Hojbjerg
Son
Winks
Ndombele
Lo Celso
What a difference a season makes. Son now being lumped in with Winks, Ndombele and Lo Celso.

He signed a new deal when he and Kane were our only world class players at the same time Kane was trying to get a move to City, so he deserves another chance under a more attack minded manager after one poor season.

Same as some of the players under Ramos. Redknapp joining had an instant impact. Same with Jol/Santini.

Sometimes it feels like people have short memories here regarding what difference a manager can make. Or maybe it's just posters who are too young to remember the pre-Poch days or have only followed us since Poch?

Poor is being extremely kind. He’s been absolutely horrendous. He’s dropped off a cliff in the same way Dele did, to the point he is incapable of controlling a football. This is the last chance to get a decent fee for him to put towards a replacement which is why he’s in the sell list and lumped in with Winks and Ndombele.

After the performance last night and particularly from when we went 1-0 up, I can understand the urge to burn it all down and start again. However, amongst all the bollocks that Carragher and Neville spouted yesterday, the one bit I agreed with was when Carragher said it is the manager who sets the tone.

If we can get this appointment right then I really think we could see a dramatic turnaround. Not enough to win the league, but definitely to be contesting top 4 and winning a pot - which would be a decent foundation to build from.

Will we get it right? No idea, but the whole club needs a fresh start, which obviously isn't happening with Conte-lite in charge.

Fucking hell, just make it end!

It’ll be the same bland atmosphere sprinkled with the odd outburst of singing. Too many people at the games who simply don’t give a fuck (tourists) coupled with fans who have been broken.
I’m happy to get a chorus of “B-Tech Conte’s Blue and White Army” going.

You're right we should've given Nuno 2 full pre seasons before we judged him
Your sarcasm is noted, so I won't use big words.

What is the point of saying we need a project manager, and then judging them prematurely?

Eriksen doesn't hit those late winners against Swansea and Hull just before Christmas and Poch reaches the midway mark of his 1st season with only 7 wins in the league. Kane doesn't get the deflection against Villa and it's 3 wins from our 1st 10 games in the league and Poch likely never gets the chance to build what he did. Lord knows Kane can't score from a freekick on purpose, so perhaps it was written in the stars. Sliding doors moment. Of course, the goals happened and the rest is history, but the point is things could very easily have been different.

Would Nuno have worked out? I don't know. But I know that if a lot of time and effort went into breaking something, it cannot be fixed quickly. Short-term thinking is part of the reason why we're in this mess, so more of it is certainly not going to solve the problem.

Son deserves our respect always. But he needs to be dropped now, its been an entire season of this and we cant put that entirely on a manager.

I know the answer to this one, I’ve seen it before. There is a very high chance we won’t get it right and if by chance we do then we will still faaaack it up by not backing it properly.

I think if we get new owners we could see a dramatic turnaround though

Can we please get a gimp emoji?
Why not go all the way and get a gimp rating?

I agree with the sentiment, but you have to be able to see a course of direction. There have to be little shoots of progress. Within four months, it was obvious where Poch was going with the team, even though we were still very inconsistent.

I've said this before, and I think all reasonable fans will agree me. If we see progress and the team tries to play positive football, the fans will get behind the project and show patience. At the end of the day, most fans want something to be excited about. They want to enjoy watching and following their team. They want to be entertained. If they can see the team improving and playing good football, that gives them something to feel hopeful about.

I know, you mention it or similar in every single thread on the board.

Was one of three spurs in my school, used to go in every single monday during AVB, Sherwood eras embarrassed and being slated by everyone else (mostly chels).
This bloke was the only one who changed that, he just got it - whatever 'it' is. I get that people have reservations about being too soon, psg etc but just say fuck it and let him finish what he started. He's the only way out.

it is so obvious isn’t it?

I can only think that the fans singing it loudly Saturday can help make it happen. It’s up to them to do it.

A bit of uselessness… So, yesterday the wife and I were in Punjab on Neal Street and on the table across from us were a group of blokes doing that thing when they talk loudly about stuff… quickly became obvious they were sports journalists, but hard to tell who… so, conversation is all about managers and sackings, and one said, “So mate, given your position, you must be hearing gossip about the new man at Spurs?” And this other guy says “Nothing. The club is locked up tight. Not hearing a thing. Nothing leaking out. It’s weird, normally you’d hear something… but not this time…” as we were leaving, I tried to get a glimpse of speaker, but while I recognized the voice. I couldn’t place him. Bald, looks a bit like Tim Vine… the only interesting bit was five journos complaining they are hearing nothing.
