If your options are:

A. Have £80M to replace Kane, or

B. Have £0 to replace Kane

Which is the better option?
(You have to replace Kane in either scenario)
of course it makes sense financially - but it don't make sense to the football team in fact it make zero sense you are bringing in a new manager do you think

a - he has more of chance with the best centre forward in Europe playing for him or
b - a lesser striker and you also need to buy a creative player

people sit and moan acting like a big club well this should be a football decision and there is only one you can make and that is to keep Kane and bring in a manager who will attempt to push the football club into a position that matches Kane's needs

Poch chants were loud in the lower slab of fans in south. Loved it. Felt 2017y for just a microsecond.

Not sure you can say Poch isn’t elite level tactically then call out Arne Slot. I mean I am up for Slot, Kompany or Gallardo but none of them have operated in an elite league.

If Poch isn’t elite tactically then the only manager who is possibly proven elite tactically we are after is Naglesmann.

If tactical style is your think then the most successful style right now is Pepball and that would lead straight to Kompany as the choice.
Naglesmann by the same logic isnt proven elite tactically but been found out by teams like villareal, and had his own players question his tactical approach resulting in him actually compromising on his idea. There is absolutely nothing to suggest he is more tactically elite than Poch. They both are sometimes victims of tactical stubbornness, but then so is Guardiola and he does okay.

His teams play well but have a tendency to lose when it matters. The only things he has won, like Poch, are when winning is harder than losing.

I think Nagglesman is a good candidate that ought to be considered, though I have question marks over how his style would translate to this team, but people are seriously playing him up to levels Im not sure he jas shown

This notion of elite tactically is frankly rubbish anyway. If tactics was the main thing that mattered than Bielsa and Ragnick would be the most succesful coaches. They are not. How you manage a team of individuals. Motivate them. Your ability to take advice and listen to those around you. Your ability to accurately assess your squad and find to address its needs., how you deal with player fitness and So on. All form part of the job. Tactics are probably no more than 20%.

Poch could come back and be a massive success. Lots of reasons to think he could be and lots of reasons to think he might not. His lack of winning things in part is just down to probability. Football can be pretty random, if a few decisions change, a few draws become victories etc he could have won a titles here. He could reach that level again, or maybe we would not.

Any appointment is a risk. The problem isn't who we pick. Most managers mentioned are justifiable and could succeed in the right circumstances. We might even get the appointment wrong, so be it, it needn't be such a biggy. The main thing is their needs to be a coherent strategy in place. What are we seeking to build? Who can help us fulfil that vision?

If you believe that, than why wouldn't he leave Spurs if he ends up being legit and go straight to Barca/Real?

I think that's reason enough to not hire him. Would probably leave for those clubs at the drop of a hat.
I think that if we offered him the salary and built something like Liverpool did under klopp that had us challenging on 3 fronts he would have zero reason to leave us for Barca and Real. Im just saying that it feels like do or die on him where if we don't lock him in now, a bigger fish will come in and swoop up eventually.

I don’t really understand what you’re getting at tbh. All three were on our list at one point supposedly.
I’m not getting at anything FFS. Why does everything have to be cantankerous? I was asking a bloody question: Is Poch on the list? I thought he wasn’t. Therefore not even being considered. Not getting at anything, outside of a binary question. No ulterior motive. No trying to prove a point. Just a chuffing question. Fuck me.

I’ve seen the Chris cowling video. That is not representative of how it was is the middle of the park lane.

At best, I’d say 20% would tolerate Poch return.l (and that’s Generous as around me, I’d say it was less than 1 in 20 that joined in)

Yet on the tv coverage it came across loud and clear. Any home game from now on in this season when we aren’t winning will bring about the chant.

I'm worried our fans are blinded by love. Pochettino just isn't at an elite level tactically. That isn't to say he's bad but even at his peak he got outclassed tactically by the likes of Pep, Klopp, Allegri and others - that doesn't mean he never beat them, but he's clearly not on the level of the best. .
Not sure this means that much. Klopp isn’t that tactically astute, he just has an insanely good way of playing and exceptional man management skills. He’s not changed the way he plays this season despite not having the midfield for example.

Pep is obviously a better example but the number of times he’s been done by overthinking his tactics or being too stubborn (think every game against Spurs of late) suggests it’s not just tactics.

No, But apparently both got sent off for 'failing to control their staff'. Which seems a great idea, cos it's much easier to control them if you are banished from the bloody area they are in. Stupid rule.
It’s pathetic and is also a rule at grass roots where coaches / managers get fined if parents get out of hand at kids matches (even though they have to stand in opposite sides of the pitch). They basically call it a failure to control supporters. Ridiculous rule.

One of the spurs coaches yesterday definitely gave one of the Brighton back room staff a dig to the back of the head though.

We didn't get to the CL final via "elite" tactics, whatever they are. We got through sheer fucking bollocks, because players will run through brick walls for Poch. He builds teams based on galvanising them as a unit, and being brave to get out there and have a go at them.

I don't care if emotion drives me, he's my only choice.

My general concern is that whoever we bring in to have us play ”on the front foot” (intense pressing, attacking and possession-based footie etc) will likely struggle to do so with our current squad. Primarily because it is severly lacking in the three basic elements below, which IMO are essential for such tactics. So whereas Conte ball certainly has not been very entertaining (and not something I want to see more of), I can still understand his rationale for defending low considering the shortcomings of our squad.
  • Pressing from the front - Kane and Son (for all their qualities) no longer have the legs to do that. Brighton (like most teams before them) played through our press with ease.
  • Playing out from the back/press resistance - Basically all opponents have figured out that the risk/reward of pressing us high is very favorable, which often sees us pinned back in our own half. And with the exception of Porro/Romero (maybe Lenglet at a stretch), the rest of our defenders do not have the basic technique/vision to play out from the back. To improve this we also need to upgrade our ballplaying qualities in CM (as pretty much only Bents is at all press resistant).
  • Recovery pace in defence - our current lot simply do not have it, and without it we will be murdered on the counter if we still try to play a high line defence.

Exactly. If you’ve got good players playing for each other and have that togetherness then you’ll win the majority of your games or at least get good performances out of each other.

Yesterday I saw a team playing with the hand brake on. Eleven players who if arranged in a proper formation and properly motivated wouldn’t take long to improve. The Shearer article I posted the link to yesterday outlined how Bobby Robson came in and did just that after Gullit and results improved immediately. This was also with a similar group of under performing players known for downing tools. Whilst Poch is no Robson he’s cut from a similar cloth. Bringing him in tomorrow would improve things immensely.

If bigger fish come chasing our managers then it means our managers and our team are doing well. I’ll have some of that please.

Mate, you started this off by calling me Charley Brown and a defeatist. That’s hardly positive thinking now is it. It didn’t seem like you were interested in the info just taking a post that was partly tongue in cheek seriously. I think your reading way to much negativity into this. Not sure why. Also you nor I mentioned Poch once so not sure how I’m supposed to respond to a question that wasn’t asked. This place is so toxic right now, I don’t get why people need to snap at one another, this is twice now you’ve taken umbrage at my posts and I’m not really sure why. There was no ulterior motive.

He showed loyalty to River and turned down Barcelona when they came calling.

If we are turning our noses up at managers that wouldn't leave if Barca or Real came calling it would be a pretty tiny list.
