Granted our team needs a few additions.

But the difference in our team between last year and this year, is a couple of injuries and a huge drop in confidence.

Arsenal aren't storming the league with the best team, they're running on positivity and belief.

There are several managers that can fix this shambles, there is hope.

Those that can remember, that 12 point deduction and the life of 1990's fan, were far more of an existential threat than today.

Everyone keeps saying it’s not the right time. But when is the right time?
We’ve gone for Jose, Nuno and now Conte who all play boring defensive football.

Fans want the entertaining football back. There is only one person who knows the club inside out and loves the club. It’s Poch.
As much as I love Poch, people easily forget the last year he was in charge. I'm telling you now, the place was toxic towards the end. Many of those players are still at the club and I think we need a completely new manager in, a different voice. All three managers I mentioned play attacking football, it's not only Poch who plays this kind of football. Add to this how stubborn Poch was over transfers and some very good players we missed out on because of that. I'll say it again, I love Poch, but then weighing everything up, I don't think now is the time for him to return. Maybe in 5-10 years when we have a completely different playing staff and the club has hopefully progressed further. Not everyone will agree with me thinking a Poch return now isn't the best move and that's natural, I may be completely wrong and his return could be brilliant, I just personally feel one of the managers I mentioned should be who we are pushing for.

I think our issues right now aren't just about poor form so whilst I remember the nineties and take your point, the frustration now stems from us being so close and slowly messing it up every step of the way.

But regarding the team I absolutely agree. The players people moan about now can look totally transformed with a positive coach, tema confidence and some tactical adjustments.

On paper at least we have a very expensive good squad that does need reinforcements but then again whose doesn't?

I'm really hopeful and looking forward to a new positive manager coming in and energizing the place.

Yep, I just don't understand singing for a manager we don't have and not everybody wants.
I know plenty seem to like it but for me, it's a bit pathetic.

I'd take Poch back...

Just think that particular phrasing is a bit cringey lol

I don’t believe any manager alive can make the current squad of players competitive. With the odd exception, this squad is dire and lacks technical and creative individuals. We’ve grossly over paid for bang average players during the last 4 years, which will take years to recover from.

Whoever comes in, isn’t going to be some miracle worker, so we’ll have to lower expectations whilst we rebuild. We have to try and be patient, which is near impossible in today’s football.

We are club that is fast losing its identity and I’m not certain that we have the plan or execution to recover..
I disagree. We saw a year ago what the squad can do when their tails are up and not hampered by too many injuries. And the squad is even stronger now (minus injuries).

We've massively underperformed this season playing awful football and are still not that far off being the 3rd best team in the league.

A couple key signings and a coach who helps build confidence will see a big difference.

You know what, I'm not that fussed about competitive. I'm just interested in enjoying going to watch football again.

Whether it's Hoddle waltzing past Oxford, Ronny Rocket hitting 4 against Southampton, Nielsen throwing himself to win against Leicester, Bale stealing Inter Milan's taxi, or Poch in tears in Amsterdam... There has always been something magic about supporting this club.

There's no magic right now. I want that back.
Spot on... The expectation of being entertained has reach rock bottom.

Maybe around you in the ground. But on TV, the chants for Poch & also the chant for Levy out were very audible & long lasting,
Shelf Bar singing was all about Pochettino....

Even wrapped it into a Stellini Chant.

Not saying it's representative but it was quite clear.

And yet, when we click, we still get great results. This squad is much better than you seem to think, we've just spent too much time under Managers who've never had to coach a squad before, and have not been willing or able to develop those skills themselves, they've just blamed the players for needing to be coached. Serial winners my arse.

I don't think any coach can consistently (i.e. season in and season out) get the likes of Dier, Davies, Tanganga, Sanchez, Lloris, Lenglet, Hojbjerg to perform at the top levels week in week out to challenge at the top. That's because they are not of the requisite quality imo. Football coaching is coaching not alchemy.

So if I’m reading this thread correctly:

- We don’t want a manager who’s already managed us because it didn’t end well, and it won’t end well…

- We don’t want a manager who’s good enough to be on the radar of bigger clubs because if they do well they’ll get poached and it won’t end well…

- we don’t want a manager who isn’t on the radar of bigger clubs because if they’re not good enough for them, they’re not good enough for us, but if they do well for us they’ll get poached and it won’t end well…

- we don’t want a manager who has no PL experience because it’s a risk and won’t end well…

- we don’t want a manager who does have PL experience because we need fresh ideas and not the ‘same-old-same-old because it won’t end well…

- we don’t want a manager who’s too young because it won’t end well…

- we don’t want a manager who’s too old because it won’t end well…

- we don’t want a manager who is popular with the fans because getting something right would let DL off the hook for a while, and what’s the point anyway because it won’t end well…

- we don’t want a manager who will want to rebuild because the makings of a good team are in there somewhere and if they want to bring in fresh blood it won’t end well…

- we don’t want a manager who is prepared to work with the existing squad because that would let DL off the hook for a while and wouldn’t end well…

Have I missed anything?

Poch said we needed a rebuild. Those players are still there and we have been awful for the last 3 seasons. We need to start a rebuild and get rid of those players.
Poch did that last time by getting rid of players such as Lennon, Kaboul and Adebayor

Yes...We want a manager who, irrespective of results "just makes us feel good"
