Some fans disliked Antonio because they believed that he thought he was too good for the club.
Some fans are not in favour of Ange's appointment as they believe he is not of the right level for the club.

Out of interest, does anyone here fall in both these camps?

I am the opposite.

I like Conte, because I thought he could be good for the club.

I like Ange, because I think he can be good for the club.

Well that didn’t take long did it.
I actually think this could be an inspired appointment. Of course all managers are a risk as you can never be sure if the chemistry will work but you have to give them time before you rush to judgement.

What I’d like to see from him is, aside from the attacking football he favours,

Proper squad rotation so everybody feels part of the team, are match fit and don’t get burned out for the latter stages of the season.

Selection based on merit. No more favorites . Sick of seeing the same players picked game after game despite their form falling off the cliff.

Flexibility regarding tactics which means having a Plan B and a Plan C, even a D and E! And switching to the new plan quickly not waiting until it’s too late.

Make Full use of the Substitutes. We can bring in half a team so should use that to our advantage in order to rest players, change tactics and keep everyone in the squad feeling involved.

Most of these points are interrelated in that they are about making full use of the resources at the managers disposal. Most of our recent managers have made terrible use of the squad.
I’m tired of seeing the same 11 starting every game regardless of their form, of no substitutions until the last 15 minutes, of our results suffering in the last quarter of the season because the “starting 11” are dead on their feet.

He seems a down to earth, no nonsense, practical type of guy so I’m optimistic he will implement at least some of these ideas.

Here’s hoping for the beginning of a successful New Era for Tottenham..

One more to add to that...take the domestic cups seriously.

Maybe just maybe Ange was always the first choice or it was a straight shootout between him and Slot. If he was there was no way they would make that public and there was zero chance he would leave before the season was up

Talking to JN was just an opportunist move and everyone else I now think was just noise.
Said this yesterday.

No other link seemed to go anywhere.

As you say, I think Nagelsmann was just an enquiry due to him unexpectedly coming available and not one we were going all in for. Maybe just to see if he'd be interested in the interview process.

Either he flat out rejected us or we caught wind of PSG being interested too and decided that we were better off out of it and that we better let it be known that he wasn't under consideration , so Slot and Postecoglou felt they were right in the running, thus preventing them from signing contract extensions at their respective clubs.

Remember plenty of us in here said that if it was gonna be Nagelsmann we absolutely wanted to avoid a summer saga. If PSG have been in the running to then it makes total sense to back away at the first sign of doubt from Nagelsmanns side before all good options are no longer on the table.

Going to give Munn the benefit of the doubt as I believe he has been the driver here.

You also have to consider that Munn had probably been talking to Levy for a good while before he was confirmed so would have already briefed him on names etc.

Reckon we had all of Kompany, Postecoglou, Slot and Amorim with Luis Enrique as an emergency - as most of these fit the direction we are heading.

Watching some of these videos on Ange's tactics and starting to get worried we don't have the players to play this system.

Bentacur could play the single-pivot but could Bissouma or Sarr? PEH and Skipp can't.
Don't forget that these tactic videos are all based on a team that plays in a league that isn't as competitive and where Celtic average 67% possession.

In the PL, the roles will need to be different and the role of the 6, for example, will probably need a player with greater defensive qualities, so players like Bissouma and Skipp become a better fit.

For the #8 role, we have Bentancur, PEH, Sarr and Devine that can play there, but the 8/10 hybrid role (that O'Riley plays) will definitely need investment, though I wonder if Kulusevski would suit it.

Kane would probably be a better right sided 8 than most of our squad, not saying we do it, just a reflection of where we are.
The right sided 8 presses just as much as the striker but has more ground to cover. I think Kane will be fine as the striker in his system anyway.

I’m on the fence on it, but the big guy has my full support.
From what I’ve seen I like, but I also liked Jose and Conte before they joined us and ruined us.

Yeah exactly.

We don't need a massive clear out. We need:

- better coaching and instilling some belief
- trimming the squad because it is bloated
- upgrades in centre defence and gk

Plenty of talent and potential in the squad, imo. Arguably better than the team who were one year ago smashing everyone.

add centre midfield

With no Europe I'd be inclined to keep Tanganga as 4th choice for a season as homegrown, low wages, get Dier/Sanchez gone and bring two new CB's in.

This is where no Europe is good. Cutting down the size of the squad. West Ham will be on their 15th conference league game this week. That’s a lot of extra players you need if you want to keep your league position high and do well in that competition.
