This is where no Europe is good. Cutting down the size of the squad. West Ham will be on their 15th conference league game this week. That’s a lot of extra players you need if you want to keep your league position high and do well in that competition.
If they win the trophy would be worth it!

The problem is, the positions which Postecoglou needs to sub slot/rotate are the positions we have the least players (both wings), as we just have Son unless we sign Kulusevski permanently, and even then he may be better in the 8/10 position than the wing in Postecoglou's system.

We still have a lot to bring in, we just have even more to shop out.

It's certainly going to be interesting. I've watched alot of the content posted here to try and "brush" up on Postecoglou as like many my footballing knowledge is pretty insular.

Positives certainly seem to be his ability to coach teams to play agressive, attacking football and motivate players to give everything to win.

Slight concern comes from the fact that alot of his motivation seems to be aimed at remind players they are fitter and better and to keep going which is the PL isn't true, as the base fitness levels for teams is consistently high.

That said its a strategy that largely worked for Poch and there definitely seem to be some similarities in style between the two.

Outside of what I've seen I feel reassured that his time at Celtic has proved he can thrive when his team aren't just "plucky underdogs" which is something I think Poch struggled to achieve and something he is going to tap into here.

There was talk in one of the videos that at Brisbane Roar he had to carry out a huge clear out and bring through youth to fill the gaps which saw a slow, concerning start before things clicked. He won't be afforded that luxury here so I really hope that we can have a fast start to allow him to do what he needs to do. We certainly have a talented squad in part so I'm optimistic.

Overall I feel he is a manager that best reflects the values of our fanbase and I really hope he is the one to bring some pride back to being a spurs fan.

Assuming the appointment of Ange is confirmed, any word on core back room staff? He surely isn’t turning up at Spurs with just himself as he did at Celtic.

As with previous appointments, if Levy has decided he’s the man he’d better then back him decisively and not piss around. A lot of clear thinking work is needed over the summer to make this a success.

How about a World Cup winning Argentinian and a guy that once bossed Pep’s city in the CL?
Gio was not part of the world cup winning squad.

Will be interesting to see if Ange has any plans with them two and if they could step up in the league. I very much doubt it.

Rumour is he’s offered a role to three of his Celtic staff, two coaches and a video analyst.

Yeah exactly.

We don't need a massive clear out. We need:

- better coaching and instilling some belief
- trimming the squad because it is bloated
- upgrades in centre defence and gk

Plenty of talent and potential in the squad, imo. Arguably better than the team who were one year ago smashing everyone.
Coaching will get you so far but as they say you can't polish a turd. I refuse to believe that Mourinho and Conte did not try and coach certain players to become better. I just think that certain player have hit their ceiling or are limited in their abilities.

There are easily 15 players who need to be moved on. That is a mass clear out of our bloated 30+ squad.

We have a small nucleus of players who merit retaining. The others have shown that they are either not at the right level or are too comfortable.

There is definitely a need for a refresh of the entire spine of the team, goalkeeper, centre backs and central midfield. Arguably as well there is a need for a new striking option as well.

I hope that the next manager gets the opportunity to call this out and look to address it with Levy. This summer needs to be a busy one with both ins and outs to demonstrate progress and a move to a new style of football.

I’m on the fence on it, but the big guy has my full support.
From what I’ve seen I like, but I also liked Jose and Conte before they joined us and ruined us.
I've made my peace with it and to be honest, I only preferred any of the others because i'd have won a Levybarrow full of cash. I'm fucked if I know who'd be the best option and i'd be pretending if I said otherwise. In fact, other than my mugpunterism, i've been saying I don't care who got it because he's hamstrung from the start if Rumpelstiltskin is true to form. Anyway............

If he plays entertaining football, has a go at it and is positive, if he buys into the club and what it's supposed to stand for, that'll do me. After all, isn't that what people have been crying out for? So to a degree, he massively checks those boxes and the least anyone who's sceptical about him should do is to give the bloke a chance.

Very happy with this appointment. A manager who tries to play positively is a breath of fresh air after our last 3 incumbents.
I hope he is ruthless in cutting out the deadwood of which there are several so we can move forward with a fresh and motivated squad.
I'm sure it won't be easy as there are several clubs on the up but I'm prepared to give him time to make the necessary changes to the squad and change the style of play.
Welcome Ange and good luck

I just want to enjoy going to games again and having fun watching us play. You’d think it’s a pretty low bar, but we’ve failed to meet it for years!

My Aussie friends who follow football just to troll me (and by default Spurs) absolutely hate that he's going to us. So I think this is great. It's all irrelevant though if we don't bring in defenders who can make a solid foundation for him to build on and keep, or effectively replace, Kane.

Right now, there's only really one thing I can hope for, and that's that Ange and Poch become manager besties and gang up against Arteta.

Here is the video (sorry if already posted). It's 7 years old but still a great watch:

I totally get why people might be resistant to the idea of appointing Ange, but I defy anyone to watch this and still believe that he doesn’t deserve this chance in the Premier League.
