Err… we had a manager in place for the entirety of last summer…Great to finally have a coach in place well before preseason.
Last time we had that was Poch, so that's 9 years ago.
I'll edit it but I meant newly appointedErr… we had a manager in place for the entirety of last summer…

Nuno joined really late and it was pretty obvious he was treated as a place holder to stabilise things for a year so wasn't given any say in squad overhaul.
But we finally have a chance where a coach can come in, analyse which players will and won't fit into his system, then they can be told to look for a new club before they even return.
Gives everyone the chance to know where they stand so it's easier to move forward.
Jose joined midseason and only preseason he got was a COVID hit one, meaning he was limited.
Conte joined midseason, boosted performances which probably skewed everyone's perception of the squad as some who should have moved on, actually took themselves off the market by overperforming in that short time.
Ange has ZERO history with these players so he can be objective and be upfront about who wont fit and who will.
Im sure they'll be a few "maybes" but there shouldn't really be an opportunity for players to work their way into his good books as he's new, only to revert to shit form.
He can ask to get rid before they get the chance.
Me too. Don’t know why.I receive 2 or 3 emails per day that suggests the exact opposite.
Pochettino was renowned for having a personal touch with his players but in a Chelsea squad of 78 he’s going to spend every waking moment of every day in player 1:2:1s unless he changes this.I suspect every top manager has a different approach to this and I highly doubt every "elite" manager has the exact same approach and has long intense 1-2-1 chats with every player.
Many top managers are renowned for basically ignoring and barely speaking to half the squad individually. Tuchel is renowned for being frosty and aloof, while I very much doubt Conte has many 1-2-1s with the players.
Honestly reckon we're reading into it too much and there are plenty of other managers at all levels of the game that do exactly the same as Ange, while there are plenty of others who have success with more of a personal touch and lots of individual time.
Don't think there's a correct or incorrect way, necessarily, provided the players buy in to the manager's ideas and methods.
Have we signed his back room staff yet?
Glad he’s getting a break before properly starting. It seemed strange that he signed almost the first working day after the Celtic season ended. I imagine he has provided a wish list of named players and types of players. And also that he doesn’t have any affinity with the current set of players so doesn’t really care apart from H of course.
All great points. Will be exciting to see who he favours and doesn’t and how he starts to shape the squad over summer.Great to finally have a coach in place well before preseason.

He doesn’t need huge huge backing he just needs to completely clean out the squad and then 5-6 astute signings this summer and Ange's style of football will be good to go.Agree with all this but it's the last line that's key. He can ask but will he get backed? I mean properly backed, none of this half arsed shit anymore.
The jury is out and history suggest he won't be but he does seem like the kind of guy who won't take any shit and hopefully the penny has finally dropped with Levy.
We live in hope anyway......
Just had a worrying thought. If we assume our players are technically better than those celtic players I'm concerned AP will be mesmerised by players such as winks et al in pre season and give them another chance when we all know he along with several others are not good enough
Nah. Players like Winks, Sanchez etc… who have 1 year or less on their contracts the decision will have already been made by the club to sell on. We have analysts and coaches at the club that will inform Ange why they won’t be up to the required level.
Melbourne has the second-largest Greek community of any city in the world.Just a question related to our new manager to our Aussie SC community. Why does Australia have such a large Greek community? Was there a time when Australia was a Greek colony? Did Alexander the Great have a run-in with a kangaroo with a nasty jab that led to a subsequent invasion?
Brilliant! There are plenty of Aussie related songs, too - starting with Down Under:
Ange comes from a land down under
Attacking football full of wonder
When we press, your defenders blunder
You better run, you better take cover

This is original and great in terms of a tune - not a crappy rehash. There are plenty of Aussie related songs, too - starting with Down Under:
