And don't forget the Poles, Ukrainians and Russians.
The old National league was very ethnic biased.
Adelaide City (Italian), West Adelaide (Greek), Marconi (Italian), Melbourne Knights (Croatia) etc etc.
The A-League changed that after a wide ranging report suggested sweeping changes to take the "ethnicity" out of football in Australia.
Smaller clubs had to change name and it is much better now from an inclusion perspective with admin from clubs replacing the old school die hard dinosaurs of old.
Sounds like Aussie football was quite 'lit' back in the day with all those nationalities having their own teams. I can only imagine the feuds.

It was brutal mate.
I remember going to watch a couple of mates playing in a Sunday league.
Anglo-Saxon team of my mates playing a team literally called "Chileans"
Out of control. We (Anglo mob) didn't help!
All in brawl. Fun though!

I do love the thought of Ange sitting by the pool, with an iPad, doing his research .. wife and kids splashing about and just the odd bit of booming Aussie voice from his sun lounger..

“Ah what… fucking… you can’t.. you can’t be doing that there.. are ya fuckin’ kiddin me mate”

…his wife looking over questioningly at his latest outburst..

“It’s this.. this.. what’s his fuckin’ name… this Dier, love… he’s all over the place.. just fuckin’ gives the ball straight to the other teams fella.. and now… naw fuck, this league is nuts darlin’ they’re bringing on one of the ball boys now, Sanchez somebody, must be e’s fucking birthday or summit…”
Fuckin’ brilliant mate!

Cousins with Luka Modric…which surprisingly not many people seem to know!
Mark Viduka and Luka Modric
The ex-Premier League forward's father Joe immigrated to Australia from Yugoslavia in the 1960s and is reported to be first cousins with Modric's father. Viduka moved to Dinamo Zagreb in the mid-90s – the same club Modric began his career at.

Craig Moore
“When I first went back out to Australia I was at Brisbane Roar. Ange came in just as I was leaving the club. We had a bit of a run-in but we’re grown men – we forgive and forget – and we’ve got a great relationship.

“There was a meeting and he was probably trying to use his motivation on the group. Maybe he said a thing or two that I wasn’t overly delighted with! But it was all good. Then he got the job at the national team and I’m thinking, ‘Oh no, we probably didn’t finish off on a great note at Brisbane!’.

“So I picked up the phone and said, ‘Listen Ange, I’m in Melbourne and I’d love to catch up with you. You’re national team coach now but I’ve been doing this role in terms of mentoring and helping the FA with a lot of information about the players overseas. You may or may not want that to continue!’ We met – we had an hour – and had a really great chat. We both agreed we were hugely passionate about Australian football and wanted to continue to make an impact."

Charlie Miller
“We thought we wouldn’t get someone who was worthy of replacing him. That’s why we didn’t take to Postecoglou. But it turns out he was up to the job because he went on to do a good job at Brisbane then elsewhere.

I should have given him more of a chance. He didn’t even want me to go. But Craig was my pal and I just followed him. When I look back, I should have given Postecoglou time.

The problem was, I had made my mind up about him before he’d even arrived.

But what he did showed me that there was something about him. He wasn’t scared to get rid of us and, back then, Craig and Danny were big-name Australian international players.

“He took on a big rebuild at Brisbane and it didn’t faze him. He didn’t beat about the bush, especially with Craig right away. Postecoglou showed some balls by doing that."

Bob Malcom
“Ange was wanting to bring in younger players and at that point Craig, Charlie and myself were there,” he said. “I hold nothing against him. He wanted to go in a certain direction. That is what happens in football.

“I didn’t really have many dealings with him. I knew I was coming home. I just went in, trained and left. But I spoke to him a few times and he seemed a stand-up guy. I never had any cross words with him. Craig (Moore) played under him and speaks very highly of him.”

Danny Tiatto
“He’s come in and get rid of us old farts, people like myself, Charlie and Moorey” Tiatto told au.fourtwo.com.

"You could see what Ange was trying to do, he was trying to implement new ideas and that’s fair enough. It’s great for the game what he’s done. Roar have raised the level for everyone and hopefully it can continue. What he's done has been very impressive.”

Worth noting that Danny Tiatto was fined and dropped by Brisbane Roar under Postecoglu for having a pop at him in a newspaper article about his "silent" management style, however, I can't find the quotes.

Also, here is another quote from Craig Moore about when he worked for Postecoglu as player liaison for the Australian Nation Team
“Mark Milligan that used to play with Hibs, great lad. He had worked with Ange at Melbourne Victory and this was during the Asian Cup. We’re in training camp and he comes up to me and says: ‘Moorey, Ange isn;t even talking to me, what’s up?’
“I was player liaison manager at the time so told him to leave it with me and I’d speak to Ange. So over lunch I went to Ange and said: ‘Listen Ange, Millsy isn't too happy, he says you;re really different to how you were at club level. He just said: ‘Yeah? He’ll get over it.”
“Now I know he had a lot of time for Millsy. But that just showed how he was. He almost creates a walking on eggshells atmosphere. I told Millsy: 'You'll be alright mate!"
Great research and thank you for doing this. It seems the search continues for someone who unconditionally dislikes this guy!
BTW why has someone rated this off topic when it is literally about Postecoglou? People do that a lot on this forum and it confuses me.

37.30 See Stafford Bloor with a pretty good explanation of what it was like being a spurs fan last season. Plus they do a bit on Ange later so I've put it in here (49 minutes).

With the majority of people being right handed, when you scroll down the page (on mobile), it’s very likely the majority of votes showing ‘off topic’ are mistakes and should be taken as such.

I didn't know that. I don't listen to the podcast, just the analysis bits on youtube and that is good content.
