Am I right in thinking you need to subscribe to a whole year for 45 quid to watch the West Ham game on Spurs TV, when it's free on West Ham TV?

Apologies if this has been discussed already. Didn't have time to read the whole thread.

Think the most interesting thing about those lineups is probably the full-back combos.

I'm curious to see how those develop through pre-season.

As much as that team makes me aroused, I think the midfield is flimsy as hell. And the full backs suspect defensively.

Personally I would never play Ndombele/Maddison as two number 8's - it should be one or the other. Same with Porro/Regi. You need a Davies or Royal to balance them out.

We'll have to see how it plays out. I agree with what you're saying but the reason I'll remain open minded is that the end goal is to be the team on the front foot with the ball, possession, and pressing higher up than we've seen over the past three seasons.

I had the same thoughts originally when we had Rose/Walker as both were labeled as attacking first fullbacks at the time.

Ideally, if from past play Ange styles the team would/should be more in a 2-3-2-3 shape with the ball:

Son - Kane - Kulu
Maddison - Ndombele
Regulion - Bissouma - Porro
Tanganga - Romero

Yeah great fun for pre-season but I'd fear the worst if we went into the first game away to a very tactically astute and physically strong Brentford side with that line-up. Even if we signed a top CB to play alongside Romero it just looks too vulnerable at the back to me. Think we'd need Royal in there at least.

That said, if you look at some of Brighton's line-ups under De Zerbi, they basically had 3 defensive players on the pitch at points yet the system combined with the collective effort was robust enough to make it work. That would be my optimistic take, although in reality I'd expect us to get clobbered on the break.

Interesting here:

Lo Celso, Spence, Rodon, Whiteman and Dier in neither team!
This was inevitable given the size of the group I guess. Think Spence and Dier were both coming back off injury prior to pre-season so that could play a part? Lo Celso probably the most conspicuous absence of that lot given Devine started.

I'm open-minded myself but with regards to the Walker/Rose comparison, they were further ahead of Regi/Porro defensively, even at the beginning of Poch's reign.

Happy to see how it all plays out of course, but I would be seriously concerned if we fielded that lineup against Brentford next month.

Am I reading too much into it to think he's gone for the Mourinho approach of one attacking one defensive? I think that's the most common sense approach if we're going to play a back 4.

I like the look of that team, but it leaves Biss with a lot of work to do!
