IDK. It just seems more cohesive.
The sum parts were different against West ham but still better.
I don't know if the instructions are different. It just seems in both first halves we were quite reliant on individuals dribbling.
In both halves there have been good movement and third man running it just seems to be clicking better in the second half. 🤷‍♂️
I think Gio, Richy, Perisic, and Royal are the main reasons for that. They just seem to get what we're trying to do and are doing it at a high level.

Would be nice to arrange a friendly this weekend/before the Shakhtar game to give more minutes to the squad but again some real positives and a couple of headaches for Ange tempered by the fact that the opposition was admittedly poor.

Really hope it was more precautionary than anything else on Bissouma as he's going to be pivotal in Bentancur's absence.

Wouldn't surprise me if they've been beating the 'A' team in training. Certainly the 2nd half team looks better balanced and plays the better pass and move football...

That said, the weakness is counter attacks and we all know how good son and kane are at that...
I think they've been reported doing so at least once IIRC.

So based on pre-season form, I wonder if we'll see this team in our next pre-season game

Vicario
Royal - Romero - Dier - Reguillon
Bissouma*
GLC - Maddison
Solomon - Richy - Perisic

*(if he's not badly injured)

Back to back games where the 2nd half players have played better than the so called 1st XI.

First Half standouts:

Bissouma, Sarr, Maddison

Second Half standouts:

Richarlison, Solomon, Perisic, Lo Celso

All we need now is new CB(s) and we’ve the makings of a decent side.

A perfect example of 1 team taking too many touches and another showing supreme teamwork with minimal touches.

45 minutes agains some part timers and already some want kane dropped for Richie 🤣🤣 Up the spurs
Haha I think it’s more that Kane is likely to be leaving and Richarlison at least looks like a confident player in this system.

We definitely looked way better in the second half with natural wingers. Perisic was excellent again and made Reggie look decent. Not sure Son and Kulu suit the roles they have in this system and it might take a little more time for them to get up to speed but not going to get carried away by that yet. Just good that we have more natural looking alternatives.

Another good performance. Pleased for Richarlison, GLC again looks good and Perisic is an ideal Ange winger. Nice to confirm that Solomon can also play well as the RWF, he provides excellent depth to the squad.

I do think Son needs some more work on his LWF play (it’s his first match under Ange, so there’s time for improvement). He needs to be able to go both ways. Too often he is cutting back. He is very strong with both feet so we know he’s capable of playing the role. He just needs to re-wire the way he’s playing right now. Deki, too. But at least he went on the outside a couple of times (it needs to happen more frequently).

Overall, a good run out.

Difficult to take too much from that.
Maddison very influential first half, Richy took his goals well and looked lively, and Solomon again I thought looked good.

Not much to say about the defence, other than Porro in a back 4 ain't gonna work imo.

Spot on, exactly this! Just need that CB hole to be filled with a Van (de Ven).
